About The Role
Are you a qualified Environment and Health and Safety professional looking for an exciting new contract position?
We have a newly created opportunity for a Environment, Safety and Sustainability (ESS) Adviser to join our fantastic Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) team at RBL on a 12 month contract basis.
Working across all corners of the organisation, this role will be an integral part of the SHEQ team which will see you responsible for supporting the implementation and compliance of the environmental management system, health and safety compliance and sustainability across the RBL Group and partner charities.
Promoting a positive environmental safety culture, you will work with colleagues to ensure that they have an environmentally aware workplace, compliant with legislative requirements while working to reduce the environmental impact of our work. You will also work to ensure that we all have a safe workplace with safe working procedures.

Reporting to our Head of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality, key responsibilities will include:
- Provide a central point of focus and responsibility for all RBL matters relating to the environment, to embed good practice and drive RBL performance
- Support teams and work across the organisation to deliver improvements in environmental impacts in line with legal requirements and strategy objectives
- Working with SHE Advisers and other subject matter experts within the organisation to ensure that the identification, assessment and controls of environmental and health and safety risks arising from Legion policies, strategies, operations and supply chains takes place to maintain legal and internal compliance
- Provide advice, guidance and practical training to RBL employees and volunteers as and when required on environmental, safety and sustainability
- Support the Head of SHEQ and others in the development and delivery of reports to the EB and annual statements for publishing
This role will be for a 12 month fixed term period, starting with immediate or short notice. If you are an internal applicant applying for this secondment, please ensure you have discussed it with your line manager and obtained their approval.
You will hold current Environmental and Health and Safety qualifications and a full driving licence. Membership of IEMA and/or IOSH advantageous. And you will have demonstrable multi site experience in an operational environmental and H&S role, alongside good working knowledge of statutory environment requirements, regulations, standards and codes of practice.
You will be contracted to your home address, and you will perform most of your work remotely there, with occasional travel to RBL sites including our Care Homes.
