In this role, you will be responsible for a diverse range of activities and programmes. You will play a crucial role in developing the evidence-base for our high-profile influencing activity, through both in-house research and commissioning activity externally. This is an exciting time to join the organisation in the run-up to a general election, where you will play an important part informing our national policy, press and campaigns activity.
You will also shape the strategic direction of our research and innovation programmes, which support the development of research skills in general practice and facilitate sharing of innovative practices to improve patient care. This includes management of our Research and Surveillance Centre contract collaboration, which delivers instrumental insights for the UK Health Security Agency’s disease surveillance across the country, as well as our Research Ready programme, which helps to get practices prepared to carry out research.

As the Head of Finance you will lead the day to day operational function of the finance team and provide strategic support to the senior management team and trustees. You will be a qualified finance professional who has experience of working at a senior finance level with drive and enthusiasm to further develop and implement effective finance systems and processes. You will have a crucial role in continuing the success of the organisation and be able to prepare high quality reliable and timely management information to the Executive and Board of Trustees. Ideally you will have a good understanding of charity accounting and regulation as well as compliance and governance within charitable organisations. You will have strong leadership skills to motivate and develop the small final finance team, helping individuals to fulfil their potential.

We are seeking to recruit an individual with purpose, passion and integrity to lead our Health team. In this role, you will use your skills, knowledge and experiences to help ensure movement and physical activity is embedded into health and care systems. You will work with partners across the system, in the leadership of GM Moving; our whole system approach across the city-region to reduce inactivity and grow a movement for active lives for everyone, with a specific intent to reduce physical activity and health inequalities.
Hours: 22 hours per week
Salary: NJC Points 49-53 Band H, £58,072 – £66,182 p.a. pro rata (salary to be at entry level except for exceptional circumstances)
