Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel

DSAP exists to advise the Diocesan Bishop and the Diocesan Chief Executive on the adequacy of the local safeguarding policies, in alignment with all national church and statutory procedures, and provide scrutiny of culture, working practices, and training arrangements for all diocesan and cathedral staff and office holders. The panel provides appropriate advice, guidance and support on case management and safeguarding requirements.

As chair of the panel, you will lead a dedicated team of safeguarding experts, specialists, and diocesan staff, drawing on their knowledge and experience to continuously improve our safeguarding practices.

Operations Director

Children North East is a growing charity, working to ensure that all babies, children and young people have the opportunity to grow up happy and healthy. The charity as a whole has been through a transformative restructure and due to this transformation the charity has grown substantially since 2019. Our Operational area will be led by two Directors an Operations Director and an Operations Development Director.

The current Operations Director has now been appointed internally as the Operations Development Director, this role will focus on system change including research, data, growth and further our development on specific pieces of work. This will include growing the demographics of children we work with to help us to meet their needs, changing reactionary work into intervention work and will lead on the following:
• CNE voice work – supporting babies children and young people to have a voice in the work that we do at CNE.
• Developing, implementing and leading on our training offer – in house online packages.
• Leading on new operational developments – research, scoping, pilots and evaluation.
• Driving forward our current work – regionally and nationally – stakeholder engagement, scoping new geographical areas for
development actively selling our work.
• Influencing and campaigning – working alongside policy/campaigning led by CNE, influencing external networks and systems.

The Operations Director will ensure that our current and future strategies will enable us to meet our ambitions. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to drive the charity forward in meeting the end of its current 5 year strategy and be part of the development of the next 5 year strategy. You will create good working relationships with your senior leaders and Operational Leads and you will have a whole charity approach to the work required.

This role will Lead our Operational Leads to deliver the excellent services that sit within their portfolios including the following teams:

• Therapeutic including Counselling
• Communities
• Poverty Proofing

The Operations Director role will ensure the income, safety and quality of our services are delivered to the highest standards. With key leadership qualities, this role will ensure the sustainability of our services and work collaboratively with SLT to reach its ambitions of our current and future strategies. There will be specific collaboration with the Operations Development Director to ensure that once our seed and pilot work is established it is moved forward into Operations within the charity to benefit all of the people we work with. This role is also expected to inform the Operations Development Director of key themes/gaps in services that have been recognised through current service delivery work.

The Role

As our Head of Finance, you will actively lead on the management of all aspects of the finance function to include;

· The production of interim and annual financial statements that comply with the requirements of the Charities SORP (FRS 102).

About You

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in community and / or business development with a good knowledge of the charity sector.

As Development Manager, you will:

• Support mining charities to develop business plans and budgeting and help them to identify funding opportunities and develop funding proposals.
• Provide secretariat services to mining related regional grant making charities. 
• Contribute to the development of and promote the organisations support offer for other mining charities, seeking new methods of supporting local trustees.
• Support the recruitment and training of local trustees and officers, encouraging good governance
• Develop local partnership working with other voluntary sector organisations, tiers of local government and local communities.
• Ensure the organisation interests and responsibilities in partner charities are retained and fulfilled.
• Represent the organisation with external parties, including, welfare charities, councils and local authorities as required

The essential qualities, skills and experience you will need to apply for this role:

• Experience of community development and / or business development and an understanding of business planning and budgets
• Experience of identifying and applying for funding on a national, regional, or local level.
• Proven experience of working in the charity sector with a good understanding of governance requirements and the challenges facing the sector.
• Proven experience in building confidence and a positive reputation with stakeholders.
• Ability to be self-motivated, with good personal organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to resolve problems in a logical, proactive, practical and positive manner
• Ability to take initiative with a practical, ‘hands on’ approach to work
• A valid driving licence and own transport with the flexibility for some travel

As Director of Development, your key focus will be to harness this momentum to grow our charitable income and develop new revenue streams, enabling us to invest in making a greater impact. Reporting to our Managing Director as a member of the Charity Leadership Team, your responsibilities will include:

· Developing a Soil Association Group fundraising strategy to deliver our strategic plan and growth objectives.

· Leading our Fundraising and Supporter Development teams, ensuring targets are achieved and supporting their personal and professional development.

· Working closely with colleagues to curate coherent and compelling funding propositions that support our work and impact.

· Establishing and cultivating key donor and funder relationships

· Representing the charity at external meetings and events

· Contributing to the overall strategic development of the Soil Association Group alongside other Directors, the Group Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees

We are looking for someone who is passionate about our mission and shares our ambition for change and the impact we can have. You will likely have experience of working at a senior level in fundraising, but we are also happy to consider other backgrounds where income generation and stakeholder engagement have been important factors. An inspiring leader with a track record of generating income, raising funds or attracting investment, you will motivate your team and champion our cause to a wide range of stakeholders, potential funders and donors.

Embracing Age is a Christian charity working towards a world where older people are valued, connected and full of hope. We do this by befriending care home residents, supporting informal carers and equipping churches in their work amongst older people. Care home residents are twice as likely to feel severely lonely than older people living at home and we want to embrace them with God's love.

About the Role

The CEO will provide leadership to Embracing Age and to be responsible for the management and administration of the charity, in partnership with and reporting to the trustees. You'll lead, inspire and motivate staff and volunteers, whilst upholding and developing the Christian ethos, vision, mission and values of Embracing Age, along with the strategic objectives and priorities.

You’ll be a strategic, passionate person with a big heart for the older generations and a desire to mobilise churches and communities in coming alongside them. You’ll be a friendly, confident individual with good communication and organisational skills who is looking for a part time flexible role.
