 Key Responsibilities

• Act as system lead for Microsoft Business Central, our accounting system, and the other systems used by the Finance Team.
• Prepare month-end journals, balance sheet reconciliations and support year-end accounts and audit.
• Be responsible for restricted funds accounting and support Gift Aid processes.
• Provide cover for Sales, Purchase Ledger and Income Supervisors as required.
• Support Finance Assistants during high-volume income periods.
• Lead finance-related projects and deputise for the Head of Finance when needed.

About You

A successful Financial Systems and Accounts Supervisor will:

• Be MAAT or part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA, with strong financial and management accounting experience.
• Be confident working with accounting systems (ideally Microsoft Business Central) and intermediate Excel skills.
• Have knowledge of Gift Aid and an understanding of charity finance and SORP (desirable).
• Be highly organised, collaborative and flexible, with excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude.

Working closely with the Operations Manager and wider team, you'll oversee all aspects of Foodbank operations including guest provision, volunteer coordination, data management through the Trussell Data Collection System, and product storage across multiple sites. You'll maintain strong relationships with referral partners, churches, schools, businesses and community groups, representing the Foodbank as a positive ambassador for the charity.

A particularly exciting aspect of this role is leading the development, setup and launch of VC&RFB's new Community Essentials Hub. This important initiative will expand the "Hope for Life" aspect of the mission, offering guests access to low-cost food and essentials provision, wider support, and opportunities to participate, volunteer and contribute. You'll help shape this new model, establish operational systems, develop partnerships with organisations such as 'Your Local Pantry', and create opportunities for former guests to be part of the running of the service.

About the role

Key responsibilities

Financial administration

• Process invoices, receipts and other payments, accurately recording them in Xero.

• Perform regular bank reconciliations in Xero and maintain accurate financial records. 

• Creditor and debtor control.

• Keep accurate electronic filing of financial and legal documents.

• Track organisational subscriptions, memberships, and renewals (e.g. Zoom, Google Workspace, domain hosting).

• Assist with payroll processing, liaising with third-party payroll provider.

• Support the Finance Manager with general bookkeeping and financial reporting requirements.

Meetings and coordination

• Provide administrative support for compliance processes (insurance renewals, Companies House and Charity Commission filings, as led by the Finance Manager).

Volunteer and HR administration

• Support volunteer onboarding and maintaining up-to-date volunteer records.

• Support team leaders with recruitment processes for volunteers, consultants and staff.

• Manage volunteer feedback and complaint forms and help ensure follow-up as needed.

• Maintain contact lists and distribution lists for volunteers, staff, and partners.

• Coordinate with project leads to track volunteer participation and availability across projects.

Travel and logistics

• Arrange travel for the CEO, programme staff, volunteers, and partners as needed using our third-party travel company.

• Support with preparing and submitting visa applications and gathering necessary documentation.

• Coordinate in-country travel and accommodation bookings and payments for team members and visitors.

• Maintain records of travel insurance, and relevant permissions for project-related trips.

About you

We’re looking for someone who’s practical, detail-oriented, confident in managing multiple tasks and able to prioritise them effectively. You will be proactive, reliable and adaptable and you will be comfortable using a range of IT tools and working in a remote, global environment.

Essential skills and qualities

• Proven bookkeeping experience or qualification, being confident using on-line accounting software.

• Excellent IT skills using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint along with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar), Zoom, and similar tools.

What will you do?

This newly formed role will be embedded within the site management team. To be successful in this role, applicants will be required to:

• Assist the Senior Premises Officer with maintenance tasks as required to ensure a safe and effective working environment. Must be able perform basic repairs (plumbing, carpentry, painting, changing locks etc.)
• Assist with water testing, testing of alarms and other routine tasks as directed.
• Set and un-set the site alarm systems when required.
• Assist with the opening and closing, unlocking and locking of the site gates and buildings, including evening and weekend use.
• Be responsible for the security of the site when on duty including the locking of all doors and windows.
• Assist the events manager with delivery of events, particularly during evenings and weekends.
• Assist with the cleaning of the site as and when needed.
• Assist with room setup and moving of furniture safely. This includes preparing spaces to host events and functions, packing down and cleaning afterwards. And to service ongoing regular lettings.

The Role

We are looking for an exceptional leader who is passionate about animal welfare and ethical leadership. The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven senior leadership experience, ideally within the charity, animal welfare, or related sectors
• Demonstrable experience in strategic planning, organisational development, and change management
• Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management and income generation
• Experience in data and IT management, including digital transformation
• Excellent communication, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement skills
• A commitment to the highest standards of animal welfare

Experience in retail operations, fundraising, and working with Boards of Trustees is desirable.

Public Affairs and Policy Officer

The Community Support Worker will contribute to the delivery of our LGBTQ+ youth provision supporting young people aged 13+ (and some pre-teens):

Specific Duties and responsibilities

• Work with an intensive caseload of approximately 12 young people maintaining regular contact, through arranged appointments, offering information, advice and guidance, practical support and encouragement.
• Maintain accurate and up to date written client database records and complete all admin tasks within required timeframes.
• Support clients to identify their strengths, interests, areas they would like to improve and barriers to progression, in order to develop their personalised action plan.
• Support clients to increase their self-esteem, become more resilient and improve their aspirations.
• Utilise the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Tool and Free2B tools, to monitor progression.
• Develop and deliver ‘safe space’ forums in schools, providing suitable group work activities (this may be alongside school staff or leading on your own).
• Working with the team to both lead and support our youth group provisions on a rota’d basis (both in person and online).
• Maintain relationships to work across multiple community and school settings, collaborating effectively with organisations to ensure positive service delivery.

General Duties

• Attend regular case supervision and team meetings and events as appropriate.

They are seeking an experienced and passionate Operations Manager – Registered Services to join their leadership team. You will be one of a team of four Operations Managers who oversee all front-line services .

Line managed by the Deputy Director of Operations, this role is strategically important to their delivery of recovery-based services within Birmingham’s mental health system.

Key Responsibilities will include:

· Work with the Director of Operations, Deputy Director of Operations, and other Operations Managers to co-create and deliver the operations development plan

· Line manage the service managers responsible for each area and support other team members as appropriate.

· Ensure services are delivered in line with their strategic vision and values.

· Ensure that the service(s) is being delivered in line with commissioning requirements, service user wishes and in line with local and national policy and best practice.

· Flexibility to occasionally work outside of usual hours.

· Take part in their senior on call rota.

The Successful Candidate will have:

· Experience of working in a CQC regulated service.

· Good working knowledge of relevant mental health and housing legislation and how it applies to service delivery.

· Knowledge of and commitment to the Recovery model of mental health support

· Experience of mental ill health, either personally or professionally

· Good working knowledge of safeguarding and able to deal effectively with safeguarding issues

· Familiar with good practice in data protection and able to support managers and staff to comply with any requirements
