Who we are
St Werburghs City Farm is an inner-city community hub for land-based opportunities. We understand the importance that green space has for our collective health and wellbeing, which is why all our work is based on strengthening the connections between land, animals and people. We know that enjoyment of green space, access to local food, and opportunities in the agricultural sector are not equal, and we are committed to addressing this imbalance in our work. We appreciate that everyone has skills, experience and assets to share, which is why we base our approach on co-design and delivery with and for our community. We target our work at those experiencing mental ill-health, disadvantage and/or marginalisation. We are working to create a future where communities grow, green spaces flourish, and together we thrive.

With support from the Farm’s Director, who is an experienced fundraiser, you will develop and implement the fundraising strategy for the Farm, leading on the delivery of key activities, initiatives and opportunities.
You will confidently take on the leadership of the Farm’s well-established fundraising from trusts and foundations, growing our unrestricted income base and attracting multi-year funding to support our projects. Your experience will also enable you to take the lead on establishing a new individual giving programme for the Farm, creating and implementing a stewardship strategy alongside the Marketing, Events & Communications Operational Manager. We anticipate that the postholder will spend 75% of their time managing and growing our existing trusts and foundations portfolio and 25% on building a new individual giving programme. As a member of the Farm’s Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Director and Operational Managers to ensure that our fundraising strategy enables us to deliver against our objectives, as well as supporting project managers and other staff to contribute to the development of relevant fundraising opportunities.

Closing date: 9 a.m. Monday 13th May
Who we are.
The Orchard Project brings orchards into the heart of urban communities, along with the many benefits they provide: environmental, physical, mental, social, and educational. They are the only national charity dedicated to the creation, restoration and celebration of community orchards.
For many hundreds of years, orchards were a key part of communities across the UK. But sadly, due to urban development, many of these green spaces, which are hubs of biodiversity, have disappeared. The Orchard Project’s mission is to reverse this decline and ensure everyone in cities across the UK is within easy reach of a thriving community orchard.
They also provide accredited horticultural courses and training with a view to increasing employment and representation amongst marginalised communities and host events and activities centred around orchards to improve community cohesion.
The fruit produced by orchards is used by local communities and shared throughout cities by teaming up with foodbank charities and advocating nationwide for the benefits of community orchards.

About the role.
As Head of Fundraising and a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll work closely with the CEO to devise the organisation’s fundraising strategy as they enter a positive and ambitious new five-year plan.

Using creativity, you will secure multiyear unrestricted six-figure grants from an array of grantmakers as you continue the diversification of this income stream.
The charity is continuing the expansion of its fundraising strategy to incorporate new income streams, a project you’ll spearhead with the launch of digital fundraising. You’ll target individual givers to open up new revenue sources through digital sources as you tap into the goodwill for the charity and its work across the nation.

Head of Fundraising & Partnerships (British Home)
British Home is a Royal Charter charity with over 160 years’ experience of providing specialist residential care, therapy, support, and hope for adults living with neuro-disability. We have a bold ambition to be recognised as Outstanding by the CQC by 2024 for providing safe and patient-centred care and, ultimately, then aim to be recognised for having Level 2 Rehabilitation Centre status after 2025.
Our new three-year strategy focuses on achieving our ambition by raising our capabilities in neuro-disability care provision and concurrently helping ensure the sustainability of the charity in the long term.
We are recruiting our next Head of Fundraising and Partnerships to revitalise our fundraising strategy and lead the implementation to help deliver our strategic goals.
This is a great role with huge potential and an opportunity to build a small team.
Key Experience:
You will be an experienced fundraising professional working at a senior level with strong strategic and team leadership experience.
With demonstrable experience overseeing diverse income generation activity, you will lead a capital appeal project to refurbish our iconic building and to introduce new technologies and specialist equipment to improve the lives of British Home’s beneficiaries.
At British Home, our strong reputation for high-quality care and innovation is your canvas to paint success, fostering robust relationships that translate into impactful income through corporate and trust fund partners.
By working closely with our committed CEO, you will identify funding priorities, develop project requirements and produce tailored applications for a diverse range of trusts and foundations, and nurture strong relationships with corporates and high-net individuals to support our work.
This is a great opportunity for a senior fundraising professional who is a self-starter and passionate about creating a meaningful impact on the lives of our residents and their families. Here, you'll have the freedom to put your own stamp on the role and be a driving force behind our ambitious mission. Every team member plays a crucial role, and your enthusiasm and dedication will be key to our success. If you share our commitment towards ensuring that everyone with neuro-disability is able to live as full and independent a life as possible, then we would love to hear from you.
Why should you join us?
In the words of one staff member, we are ‘simply not a big brand provider’. We take pride in being a charity, offering a unique environment with a staff-centred approach. Here, we provide our residents with the time and individual support they need. Experience first-hand the positive impact your fundraising expertise will have on transforming the lives of our residents. Make a difference with British Home!
