You will be providing advice to clients supporting them through the debt advice process, including dealing with emergencies, income maximisation, budgeting advice and ultimately helping with a debt strategy.
You will need to:
- Prepare and present cases to the appropriate statutory bodies
- Negotiate with third parties in writing and on the telephone
- Act for clients where necessary by calculating, negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning
- Be numerate and able to analyse data and draw conclusions
- Have good communication and IT skills
Role purpose
To deliver an excellent quality debt advice service to clients, with due regard to the aims, policies and procedures of the organisation and service, working within a client focussed and responsive team.

About the role

Support Worker
We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Support Worker to join our Hope House service in Slough.
£24,960.00 per annum, working 40 hours per week. Benefits include 25 days Annual Leave, pension schemes, staff discounts, healthcare and career progression.

We provide support for 16 customers, we have two sites Hope House (10 bed supported housing) Doddsfield Rd (6 flats independent living with floating support).
Hope House - Support hours 24 hours 7 days per week, with sleep- in based on a shift rota pattern - (sleep-ins staff are paid additional to salary advertised).
Doddsfield Rd - Floating support (during working hours)
Team - 1X Contract Manager, 1X Team Leader, 3.2 Support Workers.
Current Vacancy - 1x FTE/1 x FTC Support Worker role who will be allocated to work with customers at both sites.
Staff work closely with Slough Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) we also have a designated Occupational Therapist working along side supporting staff. Customers also attend Hope College which is facilitated via Slough Mental Health Team as part of their recovery process needed in preparation into independent living.
This is a great opportunity for any support worker to gain exceptional experience within the mental health field, based on the solid working relationship with (SCMHT) We have since implemented training directly from SCMHT to support staff with understanding Mental Health diagnosis and Managing Crisis with our customers in-house.

What you'll do:
- Undertake key-working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the Team Leader/ Manager
- Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks and agree levels of support and actions
- Create support/action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available
- Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation
- Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local community
- Empower customers to ensure they receive the service and benefits they are entitled to
- Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive tenant/customer records to professional standards
- Encourage and enable tenants to pay their rent and to ensure that rent accounts are managed effectively in conjunction with the Housing Management team
- Ensure that referrals are chased proactively so that properties which can be used to house those in need are filled as efficiently as possible

Our Welfare Officers provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family. As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.
Our intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.
Our service is transitioning to become more accessible and inclusive, digital technology plays a key role in this, as such you will use digital technologies to complement and enhance processes and service user experience.
You will play an active role within the community, promoting the service through the delivery of presentations and representing the service at public engagement events. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.
It would be advantageous if you have experience of carrying out assessments, preparing plans, monitoring and reviewing outcomes.

This role is part of the Wiltshire Project which provides individual and family support to domestic abuse for victims and their children.
Working within the children and families team, you will focus on delivering timely and high quality, trauma informed support to children.
This exciting new post will predominantly be working with children aged 0 to 5 years and their parents/carers who have experienced or been affected by domestic abuse. Focusing on standard and medium risk cases, this role will provide practical and emotional support to children where appropriate and their families, with an emphasis on early intervention and awareness raising.
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
· To provide high quality, specialist support to children who have lived in a domestically abusive family.
· Enabling the children and their families to access statutory and other services where appropriate.
· Managing a caseload and working proactively to support children, young people and their families.
· To deliver educational, time-bound, 1 to 1 support sessions for children where appropriate and to their parents on the impact of DA on their children
· Provide specialist support through group work provision specifically the You and Me Mum Course to mothers who are victims of domestic abuse and have children aged between 0-5 years.
· To support with the facilitation of the CYP witness group provision alongside the specialist children and young people advisors
· Undertake risk assessments and implement robust safety management plans.
· Give practical and emotional support to children affected by domestic abuse.
· Work closely with multi-agency partners and the wider Wiltshire team to ensure that we maintain a focus on risk management and safeguarding.
· Work with your team and manager to develop early intervention resources.
· Engaging with and supporting the MARAC and MASH process, to ensure that the voice of victims is heard.
· To build key relationships with the Family Hub specifically the Navigator roles across the county.
In addition, there will be the opportunity to work with the team and manager to develop and deliver new group work provision for young people.
This role will be based in our Trowbridge office, with a requirement to travel across Wiltshire. FearFree supports staff to work flexibly, with an ability to work in a hybrid fashion, both at home and in the office.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of low to medium risk children and their parents/carers, predominantly aged between 0-5years through face to face appointments but also utilising virtual technologies.
- Complete an initial assessment of the child’s needs so that you can identify and plan the support needed to address issues and prevent any problems from escalating.
- Assess, manage and review risks to service users, colleagues and self, according to agreed procedures.
- Assess the needs of the child and their parent/carer devise appropriate support and safety plans with due regard to the dynamic nature of risk.
- Work with colleagues, health and social care professionals and multi-agency networks to evaluate caseload needs and the progress that has been made.
- Work directly and proactively with children and their parent/carers to help them to understand the impact that Domestic Abuse has had on them and/or their children.
- Ensure personal safety and that of service users and other staff at all times.
- Respond to emergencies and crises with a focus on the child’s wellbeing and safeguarding.
- Plan and implement activities to promote self-awareness, confidence and participation for children.
- Provide person centred, trauma informed support to all your cases, to empower the young person to make informed choices.
- Enable service users to participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of services.
- Work effectively in partnership with multiple statutory and voluntary agencies to enhance service delivery, safety and safeguarding.
- Respond to a child’s individual learning needs and style, adapting practice as necessary.
- Work closely with schools and education establishments to ensure support offered to service users is appropriate, planned and coordinated.
- Keeping the child’s voice central to all support and decision making wherever possible: taking the time to talk through and work with the individual child’s understanding around safeguarding and why we need to share certain things.
- Act as duty officer for Wiltshire, responding to incoming calls, logging referrals and making assigned outgoing calls, according to the duty rota. Duty shifts will be 9 – 5 in the Trowbridge Office.
- To understand and work effectively within a multi-agency framework, consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse, in order to reduce the risk for service users and their families.
- Accompany service users, when needed, to other relevant agencies and support them in their interactions with these agencies.
- To work alongside colleagues to deliver a whole family approach.
- Be proactive with your line manager to carry out periodic case reviews.

Working with children and young people, the team will focus on delivering timely and high quality, trauma informed support to children who have been the victims of domestic abuse.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Regional Casework Coordinator to join the Northwest Region at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.
You will be part of the regional office team who are the first point of contact to all beneficiaries into the Regional Office. You will be assisting with sometimes complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlining needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary, either by beginning a casework referral, referring to another service within SSAFA or making an external referral to organisations better able to offer support. About the role:
In October 2023, the organisation began delivery of Year 1 of their West Midlands based Environmental Leadership Programme in partnership with the Shropshire Wildlife Trust. The role of the Participant Support and Delivery Officer is to work closely with the programmes delivery team across the partnership on the different stages of programme recruitment, delivery and implementation – all to ensure that participants have an excellent experience with us.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Supporting the recruitment and onboarding of Year 2 participants in the run-up to the programme starting in October 2024 and provide a friendly point of introduction for participants onto the programme. This will include travelling to support the delivery of in-person taster and recruitment activities.
- Supporting the participants and managing their experience before, during and after programmes. This will include working with the programmes team to ensure we have collected all of the participant information we need to be able to assess the success and impact of our programmes and will include communicating with and keeping track of correspondence with participants
- Carrying out monitoring and evaluation activities and analysis of data that will help us measure and communicate our programme impact, including data collection (qualitative and quantitative) that can be used to create a programme narrative
- In Salesforce - undertaking data entry and administration including the production of basic reports and the ongoing development of simple automation that helps us streamline processes across the programme and partnership

Key skills required for this role:
- You have experience of delivering timely, tailored and appropriate wrap around support for participants during the programme to ensure that they complete the programme having achieved both personal and campaign aspirations.
- You’re a team player. You develop good working relationships with young people, programme participants, colleagues, trustees, funders and stakeholders regardless of their background or seniority. You build trust and can stand in the shoes of others.
- You are process-oriented and like the detail. You love a brief, a spreadsheet, a system, and a to-do list – creating new ones and building on existing ones. You love getting through your tasks for the day, working through details at pace and to a high standard.
- You prioritise well and have excellent time management skills. You are well-organised, plan and have good attention to detail. In doing so, you manage your own time well and respect the time of others. You can juggle multiple deadlines and have experience of balancing multiple tasks and responsibilities.
- You are a strong communicator. You think about how to get your message across when you communicate, and in both written and verbal communications you are clear and concise. You are comfortable communicating in both one-to-one and group settings, online and face-to-face.
- You are ‘tech savvy.’ You are comfortable using technology to support your work and that of others. You ideally have experience with tools such as Zoom, Mural and Trello and learning environments such as Notion/ Mighty Networks, or are willing to learn how to use them with support from the team. We also use a system called Salesforce, but we’ll give you the training you need to be able to use this.
