The Healthy Ageing Project will address specific challenges within the community, while actively promoting healthy ageing in practical and effective ways across our network.

We will focus on the strengths and expertise of our member groups to promote engagement with Ireland's unique music, dance, sport, language and culture.

We will work together with our members throughout this three-year journey. Together, we will develop, launch and promote a project geared towards improving health and wellbeing, reducing health inequality and providing strategic direction for national health programmes and policy recommendations for the Irish community.

This post is part time (17.5 hours per week) and will be based in the North of England, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester etc.

The role

• Provide expert support, guidance, and information on cerebral palsy particularly within the context of Scope’s Strategy, to disabled people, families, professionals, Scope colleagues and members of the public.

• Be Scope’s representative within the region on cerebral palsy, joining existing CP forums and groups, helping the CP community to come together, and sharing Scope’s work within communities.

About you

You will:

• Have an in-depth knowledge of cerebral palsy, its causes, health implications, therapies, and available support due to a personal lived experience.
• Have experience and up to date knowledge of current issues that affect disabled people and those around them, specifically people with cerebral palsy.
• Have at least two years’ experience working in a customer focused environment.
• Have excellent communication skills with an understanding of different needs and being able to respond to these accordingly.
• Have a strong ability to convey complex information in an accessible way and engage diverse audiences.
• Be an excellent communicator who demonstrates effective person-centred listening, empathy, and probing skills to respond to underlying issues and assist customers to make informed choices.
• Be highly organised with the capacity to prioritise workloads effectively by using your own initiative. Ability to engage groups of people and individuals on the subject of cerebral palsy and disability.
• Have direct experience of the barriers that society creates for disabled people. Bringing drive and enthusiasm to the role, demonstrating that you care passionately about improving the lives of disabled people.

The role

The post of Project Coordinator is critical to the work we do and this is a great opportunity to make a real difference to improve health and care services and make them work better for the patients and local people of our city.

You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a variety of patient-focused projects on different topics, against quality, time and cost constraints. You will manage projects from inception to delivery including publicising, following up on any recommendations, and promoting the impact that we make. As we are a small team you will also be expected to contribute collectively to a shared workload to keep the team working effectively.

Some of the projects which Healthwatch Brighton and Hove projects have delivered in the last year include:

• Improving home care services
• Improving dementia services
• Improving maternity services
• Tackling health inequalities

We have a strong team of employees and volunteers and you will be supported by our Head of Research and CEO.

Work Location

Our office is at Community Base, 113 Queens Road, Brighton. We’re a home-based team, but hold team meetings at the office every Monday and you will be expected to work in the office on this day. There is also an option of office working on Thursday and hot-desking in either the office or Community Works’ office space on other days.

We will provide line management, technology and equipment support to enable home working. Applicants must be prepared to undertake this role in either form of work setting.

Main responsibilities and duties:

1. To be responsible for all aspects of planning and delivering a portfolio of time-limited projects. Typically, this will include:

• scoping evidence-backed projects which support our wider strategic aims
• contributing to written project plans
• Using Excel or SPSS to analyse data
• leading on undertaking service review fieldwork including interviews, ‘Enter and View’ visits (where we visit services in person) and Mystery Shops of our local hospitals
• supporting others e.g. volunteers and other members of the team to undertake fieldwork
• drafting clear, well-written and evidence-backed reports
• developing workable recommendations
• presenting findings at internal and external meetings
• delivering promotional and publicity materials to support projects
• working in partnership with other groups to deliver projects.
•  All of the above will be carried out with the support of the Head of Research.

2. Proactively undertake any duties that assist with the smooth running of Healthwatch Brighton and Hove e.g. representing the organisation at meetings with a wide variety of stakeholders including the NHS, City Council, voluntary and community sector partners, taking part in promotional events, leading and supporting volunteers in project and representative work. This post will shadow other Project Coordinator’s before attending meetings alone.

3. To take shared responsibility with the rest of the team for developing and delivering the Healthwatch Brighton and Hove workplan.

4. Managing specific pieces of routine work that support the work of Healthwatch Brighton and Hove. Examples may include, supporting the production of an annual report, contributing to newsletters, helping to maintain our social media presence and updating our web site, etc.

 5. Undertake other duties as may be appropriate to the role, in accordance with the values, policies and procedures of Healthwatch Brighton and Hove as well as the ‘Ways of Working’ statement attached to this Job Description.

At FearFree we are proud to deliver services across the Southwest, and we're excited to be expanding our offer, with the introduction of a new Education, Training and Employment (ETE) Service.  We have a full time vacancy (37 hours per week) and a part time vacancy (22.5 hours per week).

As a Support Advisor you will be a fundamental part of our team, supporting the delivery of the ETE programmes and the development of the service. The service will provide a range of trauma-informed and person-centred support, focused on supporting those impacted by abuse to access education, training, employment or volunteering.

You will be responsible for providing trauma informed support through group work and 1-1 support. Working alongside a team of practitioners across our geographical patch in Devon. The project aims to:

• Increase volunteers in FearFree and support people to access volunteering opportunities externally.
• Support individuals impacted by abuse to access training and employment.
• Help people access bespoke apprenticeships and internships.
• Support service users to increase and advance work related skills, such as the development of CVs, financial management and IT skills.
• Raise awareness of this agenda to a wider network.

The service will support victims of Domestic Abuse, Sexual Violence and Stalking aged 15 and above, alongside perpetrators of Domestic Abuse – empowering victims and reducing the risk of recidivism for perpetrators.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in working with vulnerable people and an understanding / experience of the ETE sector. They will have an understanding of trauma informed practice and ideally have experience implementing this within group and 1-1 settings. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of Employability skills and will demonstrate the ability to proactively engage with both local employers and local support networks/organisations to promote the skills of the individuals they are supporting.

About Unlocked

Unlocked Graduates exists to break cycles of reoffending, with particular focus on breaking the link between disadvantage and reoffending. Currently prison is not a place which successfully does this: the average prisoner has 16 previous convictions and 48 percent of prisoners reoffend within a year of release. The role will encompass community support activity as well developing and running school holiday provision. 

Key responsibilities will be:

• To provide enrichment activities to the children’s youth work to include holiday schemes, afterschool and lunch time clubs.
• To develop a strong food poverty programme and offer support for the community through adult education, wellbeing, advocacy/family support and volunteering opportunities.

This could be the perfect role for you! The Family Support Worker is an exciting role within a growing and dynamic team, where you can help to make a real difference to the lives of unpaid carers in Lambeth. 

Having identified a gap in the identification of young carers and adult carers looking after someone with substance misuse issues, over the past year we have successfully piloted a project to identify and provide long-term support to these carers. We are now entering the second year of the project, and are looking for a new Family Support Worker to bring their expertise, enthuasism and ideas to the next stage of the project. 

The Family Support Worker will work across our Young Carers and Adult Carers Service to provide support to families affected by substance misuse, through whole-family assessments and reviews. The successful candidate will ensure that adult and young carers, and their families, have access to a range of emotional and practical support appropriate to their needs.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of working within the substance misuse field and an understanding of associated health and social issues. They will preferably have experience of working with both adults, children and young people. We are seeking candidates with a professional qualification in health & social care, youth or community work, and/or direct experience of delivering family focused interventions.

As a Senior Triage Officer - Children and Young people’s Service, you will be:

• Managing a team delivering initial telephone-based support and an effective triage service to those affected by crime
• Responsible for line managing a team including recruitment, performance management and monitoring, support and guidance
• Act as the first point of contact for clients referred in to the service, ensuring that comprehensive impact and risks assessments are completed and a tailored response to each client’s needs is provided.
• Accountable for the performance of the team including maintaining performance information, using outcomes to identify effective practice and ensuring compliance with national standards, codes of practice and all legislative requirements
• Be the point of escalation for complex and sensitive cases and queries, whilst providing support, advice and guidance to the team
• Managing and monitoring workloads across the team, promoting effective communication channels to ensure best practice

About You

You will need to have the following essential skills:

• The ability to undertake impact and risks assessments and identify appropriate support
• Excellent telephone and IT skills required to use a database and undertake all administrative and reporting requirements
• Experience of safeguarding issues and legislation relating to both child protection and vulnerable adults
• Knowledge and understanding of the impact of crime on those who experience it, a working knowledge of the criminal justice system
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, sharing, coaching others.
• Good communication skills, both verbally & written and ability to demonstrate empathy

Hours: 25 hours per week – evening and weekend work with daytime shifts.

Overall Purpose

• To provide support and care to the young people who are newly arrived in the country, providing the foundations for them to rebuild their lives with dignity, strengthen their resilience and inspire hope for their futures.
• To partner with social workers and representatives from other agencies, for the benefit of the young people.

This work is essential in enabling us to deliver our therapeutic support for all areas of a young person’s life.

Duties & Responsibilities

• To be a Support Worker for newly arrived young people who are in the care of Baca in all areas of the young person’s life, supporting them from first arrival through to their move to semi-independence.
• To welcome new arrivals into the accommodation and communicate basic information about the house, making them feel safe and able to rest; with compassion without discrimination of age, race, colour or behavioural issues.
• To enable young people to achieve the following outcomes increased physical wellbeing, increased emotional wellbeing, improved personal safety, increased social engagement and increased engagement with education, employment and training.
• To enable young people to live with positive values and good boundaries.
• To be a proactive role model for the young people, enabling them to learn day to day living skills and helping them integrate positively with the local community.
• Training young people in living skills such as washing, cleaning, cooking and safety, food shopping and budgeting; proactively and intentionally in line with the Baca independent living preparation plan.
• Helping young people settle into a routine which will include education and social activities.
• Work in close partnership with social workers and other professionals and volunteers to provide a holistic development package for each young person enabling them to become independent.
• Maintaining very good communication with relevant members of the Rebuild Team and relevant social workers through regular appropriate reporting.
• To work collaboratively with the rest of the Rebuild Team to ensure all young people are safeguarded and supported to rebuild their lives.
• Complete and update all admin work as part of the role such as month end reports and support plans on time and in a consistent manner.
• Playing an active role in developing knowledge and understanding in areas relevant to the role and especially in the areas of asylum and refugee law, trafficking, supporting separated children and the cultures of different nations relevant to Baca.

They will be a good self-starter and have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire our young people to be the best they can be. 

The successful applicant will be motivated and passionate about the work that Baca does and the young people in our care. They will be very approachable, enjoy working as part of a wider team but also able to manage their own time and workload. Someone who is supportive, responsible, reliable, personable and willing to set boundaries in line with Baca’s values.

This is a frontline role that will need the successful applicant to be working closely with young people in their houses and will need access to transport young people to different appointments, meetings and activities.
