Join AWT as our new Environmental Economist & Nature Recovery Land Buyer and you will make a significant contribution to achieving our goals of creating 1000ha of new habitat by 2030, with the Trust purchasing at least 100ha of new land.
This exciting area of work offers significant opportunities to tackle the climate and ecological crises. AWT has a wealth of ecological expertise and is a leader in local environmental markets having developed BNG and Bat credits and processes.
You will work with the Senior Leadership Team and expert ecologists, to develop the vision for large-scale land purchases and improvements to our existing reserves. With your background in environmental economics, you will assess the multiple benefits each project could offer and develop business cases that facilitate investment from the emerging green finance markets. Resulting in a prospectus of land purchase opportunities which will guide the Trust’s ambitions up to 2030.
You will also support the Head of Nature Recovery with land purchases, giving you the chance to input into projects as they develop and see theoretical benefits come to life.
Key Tasks:
· Using AWT’s Green Finance Review Process, carry out assessments of existing reserves and land on the open market, to enable the creation of a fully costed Land Purchase Prospectus, which will inform AWT’s actions for years to come.
· Lead the acquisition process for AWT's first Nature Recovery land purchase - aiming to be completed by the end of 2024.
· Work closely with senior staff to develop AWT’s customer base for credit sales. Initially focusing on Biodiversity Net Gain, bat credits and carbon credits.
We want to see nature restored on a grand scale across the Avon region. We have big plans between now and 2030 to see this happen.

About this key role
Working as part of a multi-agency team, we will count on you to lead by example, be the day-to-day expert within the team, and be a positive role model to the team of caseworkers. The Forces Employment Charity are looking for a highly motivated Employment Support Consultant to promote and provide employability and employment support for veterans within the region.
Reporting to National Veteran Support Programme Manager. the successful applicant will have a track record of providing employment and job finding support. A strong customer focus and an ability to work independently to achieve targets and deadlines is an essential requirement along with strong communication and organising skills, knowledge of the local employment market, training, and adult education opportunities.
This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week with a salary of £28,325 depending on experience. The role is Home based with local and regional travel.Veteran Support Consultants will spend an average of 30% of their time networking within their region.
Job Role: To promote the Forces Employment Charity and Veteran Support Programme across the UK and provide employability and employment support for veterans in order that they find appropriate sustainable employment, or other Preferred Vocational Outcome.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and guidance to support veterans into employment.
- Develop links with local and regional businesses and business forums to develop relationships with Corporate Mentors and to provide enhanced local level employment opportunities, working collaboratively with Employer Relationship Managers (ERMs).
- Facilitate veterans to access suitable training courses.
- Post and maintain an exemplar professional LinkedIn profile and engage with appropriate content from FEC and partner organisations.

NB Service Coordinators are required to balance management administration with being present in the group's houses. This necessitates some occasional evening and weekend work to be agreed with their line manager.

What We Offer
- This post is offered subject to a probationary period of 6 months; 3 clear references; a completed work history form; a satisfactory and up-to-date enhanced DBS check; and a satisfactory right to work check as appointees must have the right to work in the UK.
- There is no additional pay for overtime, but Time off in lieu (TOIL) will be given and agreed with the line manager when circumstances require the post-holder to work extra hours. TOIL should be taken within 2 weeks of being accrued.
- All Service Coordinators are the on-call rota for 1 week every 6 - 8 weeks. There is an additional payment of £56 a week for being on-call.
- Paid holiday allowance of 33 days leave per year. (This total is inclusive of 8 days in lieu of bank holidays).
- Service Coordinators will be provided with a programme of personal development and training including opportunities to study for QCF qualifications in social care and leadership development through L'Arche in the UK's leadership development programme.

The role of Community Stewardship Manager (Sooty Volunteers) will help to improve the lives of blind and partially sighted people by managing relationships with our amazing team of volunteer fundraisers who deliver RNIB's Sooty box programme across the UK.
Sooty has been the face of RNIB's charity collection boxes for over 50 years, collecting more than £13 million in public donations.
You will be responsible for ensuring our volunteer's contribution is a positive and supported experience, creating opportunities for volunteers to engage with other teams across the organisation and maximise fundraising income.
If you have a passion for volunteer engagement, community fundraising, relationship building, and communication, this is a fantastic opportunity to utilise your skills, creativity, and enthusiasm.
What you will need -
The successful person will have experience of volunteer management, ideally working in a fast-paced fundraising team or similar environment, and an interest in learning about creative marketing campaigns and supporter journeys.
You will be a great communicator with the ability to speak to a wide variety of stakeholders to ensure our supporters receive the best stewardship possible. You will also be experienced in motivating people to get involved, quickly building rapport and establishing long lasting relationships.

About the role
As Senior Advisor, you will provide global thought leadership in your technical area and drive work on specific parts of the Save the Children UK's strategy. You will represent the organisation regularly with external experts and will lead on technical engagement with partners. You will be a recognised expert in your field, providing leadership on complex assignments and projects, and providing technical guidance to others in resolving complex issues in a specialised area.
Senior Education Advisor – Teachers
As the Senior Education Advisor, you will have a strong focus on our work on Teacher Wellbeing and Professional Development. Save the Children UK leads the Enabling Teachers Common Approach for the Movement and seeks to ensure our programming with teachers delivers improvements in learning outcomes. This role would lead aspects of our Enabling Teachers work and represent it externally and internally. It will also ensure we are building evidence of learning in our teacher and other education programmes, especially acquisition of foundational skills.
You will be responsible for leadership in this focus area for SCUK and across the Movement to advance the organisations strategy ambition and LEARN Global Goal. This will include global thought leadership internally and externally in this focus area. This role will provide leadership to advance our teacher work through advocacy, programming, thought leadership and evidence & learning.
In this role, you will:
- Provide global leadership (e.g., in internal and external working groups) in the technical area within the Save the Children Movement and/or wider sector.
- Lead on elements of Save the Children UK's strategy with minimum supervision, reflecting your high-level responsibilities, and articulate a compelling vision to inspire others to achieve our ambitious goals for children.
- Play a leadership role in the technical design and delivery of high-quality, strategic, inclusive, and impactful programmes, working collaboratively with stakeholders, and particularly with colleagues in country offices and partners.
- Lead the development and implementation of technical strategies and products (such as best practice & evidence based approaches, minimum standards, and publications) to a high standard.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships, leading on engagement with partners to amplify impact.
- Drive research, evaluation, and innovation projects in your field of expertise, to expand the knowledge base, promote a learning culture and identify new / enhanced approaches to amplify impact.
About you
To be successful, it is important that you have:
- Experience and knowledge working in international development programming
- Experience of providing technical assistance and individual mentoring to NGO programmes teams in education
- Experience in the design, implementation and management of education programmes
- Experience of working in a matrix-managed context and promoting change across multiple networks
- Understanding of; child rights principles, gender and education & conflict sensitive education.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills, and the ability to think and plan strategically; well-developed negotiation and communication skills, including spoken and written English.
- An internationally recognised postgraduate degree or equivalent experience
- Teacher training qualification or experience in teaching experience would be desirable
- Working knowledge of French is desirable
- Ability to travel up to 40% of work time.

Working as part of the Finance Team you will contribute to the delivery of an efficient finance department ensuring accurate and timely financial transaction processing including purchase invoice processing, checking and approving expense claims, weekly BACS payment runs and cash book postings all in line with Kew’s financial policies and procedures.
To be successful you will need to be a methodical and proactive employee; working closely with the Finance team, Kew staff and external suppliers as part of the transaction processing team, demonstrating excellent customer service together with strong communication skills both orally and in writing.
