Join Dementia UK as a Governance Officer, where you will provide comprehensive, efficient, and high-quality administrative support for risk, compliance, and governance matters.

As part of the Governance, Compliance and Risk team, you will help ensure a robust governance framework is in place across the Charity. You will support the Head of Governance, Compliance, and Risk in maintaining effective governance processes, policy frameworks, and establishing high levels of corporate governance practices. You will also work under the direction of the Company Secretary on governance matters and administrative support.

Your responsibilities will include attending meetings, ensuring effective record-keeping, and taking accurate minutes when appropriate. This will also involve arranging meetings, collating papers, prioritising diaries, and managing associated tasks.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in an administrative role, including the administration of formal meetings and minute-taking. You should have excellent written and communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. Strong organisational and work management skills, along with the ability to prioritise tasks, are essential.

About this key role
Working as part of a multi-agency team, we will count on you to lead by example, be the day-to-day expert within the team, and be a positive role model to the team of caseworkers.  Using a strength-based approach, you will provide support, advice and advocacy for young people and their families regarding accommodation, working through person-centred support plans designed to promote choice and control for young people.  You will ensure, on a day-to-day basis, that all monitoring information and evidence is being recorded and collated correctly, and that you promote inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process and include appropriate agencies in the delivery of the service.

Job Role: To promote the Forces Employment Charity and Veteran Support Programme across the UK and provide employability and employment support for veterans in order that they find appropriate sustainable employment, or other Preferred Vocational Outcome.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Provide advice and guidance to support veterans into employment.
• Develop links with local and regional businesses and business forums to develop relationships with Corporate Mentors and to provide enhanced local level employment opportunities, working collaboratively with Employer Relationship Managers (ERMs).

NB Service Coordinators are required to balance management administration with being present in the group's houses. This necessitates some occasional evening and weekend work to be agreed with their line manager.

Main purpose of the role:

- To lead and manage the Oak Group, one of three groups in the L'Arche London community, comprising of a range of services for people with learning disabilities and its team of assistants. 
- To lead the service delivery within this group in line with L'Arche values, standards and the requirements of the Care Quality Commission [CQC]. 
- To play an active role in the leadership of L'Arche London, helping shape a vibrant community of people with and without learning disabilities.

Leadership and People Management:

- Supervise and work with the Deputy Service Coordinator to lead a team of 15 Support Assistants. Ensure each assistant in the group is regularly supervised, trained, and appraised, and that action is taken to effectively manage performance issues.
- Understand the requirements of the CQC and other relevant legislation and ensure that all applicable standards are met including adult safeguarding. 
- As part of the Community Coordinating Team, implement appropriate policies and procedures, promoting the wider L'Arche mission, vision and values.

Provision of Support to People with Learning Disabilities

What We Offer

- This post is offered subject to a probationary period of 6 months; 3 clear references; a completed work history form; a satisfactory and up-to-date enhanced DBS check; and a satisfactory right to work check as appointees must have the right to work in the UK.
- There is no additional pay for overtime, but Time off in lieu (TOIL) will be given and agreed with the line manager when circumstances require the post-holder to work extra hours. TOIL should be taken within 2 weeks of being accrued.
- All Service Coordinators are the on-call rota for 1 week every 6 - 8 weeks. There is an additional payment of £56 a week for being on-call.
- Paid holiday allowance of 33 days leave per year. (This total is inclusive of 8 days in lieu of bank holidays).
- Service Coordinators will be provided with a programme of personal development and training including opportunities to study for QCF qualifications in social care and leadership development through L'Arche in the UK's leadership development programme.

Save the Children UK have an exciting opportunity for an individual with extensive leadership and education experience to join us as our Senior Education Advisor where you will work with the Programme Quality and Impact (PQI) department to ensure we deliver high-quality, evidence-based programmes and develop technical approaches to achieve positive sector-wide change for children.

About the role 
As Senior Advisor, you will provide global thought leadership in your technical area and drive work on specific parts of the Save the Children UK's strategy. You will represent the organisation regularly with external experts and will lead on technical engagement with partners. You will be a recognised expert in your field, providing leadership on complex assignments and projects, and providing technical guidance to others in resolving complex issues in a specialised area. 

Senior Education Advisor – Teachers 
As the Senior Education Advisor, you will have a strong focus on our work on Teacher Wellbeing and Professional Development. Save the Children UK leads the Enabling Teachers Common Approach for the Movement and seeks to ensure our programming with teachers delivers improvements in learning outcomes. This role would lead aspects of our Enabling Teachers work and represent it externally and internally. It will also ensure we are building evidence of learning in our teacher and other education programmes, especially acquisition of foundational skills. 

You will be responsible for leadership in this focus area for SCUK and across the Movement to advance the organisations strategy ambition and LEARN Global Goal. This will include global thought leadership internally and externally in this focus area. This role will provide leadership to advance our teacher work through advocacy, programming, thought leadership and evidence & learning.

In this role, you will:   

• Provide global leadership (e.g., in internal and external working groups) in the technical area within the Save the Children Movement and/or wider sector. 
• Lead on elements of Save the Children UK's strategy with minimum supervision, reflecting your high-level responsibilities, and articulate a compelling vision to inspire others to achieve our ambitious goals for children. 
• Play a leadership role in the technical design and delivery of high-quality, strategic, inclusive, and impactful programmes, working collaboratively with stakeholders, and particularly with colleagues in country offices and partners.
• Lead the development and implementation of technical strategies and products (such as best practice & evidence based approaches, minimum standards, and publications) to a high standard.   
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships, leading on engagement with partners to amplify impact.
• Drive research, evaluation, and innovation projects in your field of expertise, to expand the knowledge base, promote a learning culture and identify new / enhanced approaches to amplify impact. 

About you 
To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Experience and knowledge working in international development programming
• Experience of providing technical assistance and individual mentoring to NGO programmes teams in education
• Experience in the design, implementation and management of education programmes
• Experience of working in a matrix-managed context and promoting change across multiple networks
• Understanding of; child rights principles, gender and education & conflict sensitive education.
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills, and the ability to think and plan strategically; well-developed negotiation and communication skills, including spoken and written English.
• An internationally recognised postgraduate degree or equivalent experience
• Teacher training qualification or experience in teaching experience would be desirable
• Working knowledge of French is desirable
• Ability to travel up to 40% of work time.

Ways of Working:

Working as part of the Finance Team you will contribute to the delivery of an efficient finance department ensuring accurate and timely financial transaction processing including purchase invoice processing, checking and approving expense claims, weekly BACS payment runs and cash book postings all in line with Kew’s financial policies and procedures. 

To be successful you will need to be a methodical and proactive employee; working closely with the Finance team, Kew staff and external suppliers as part of the transaction processing team, demonstrating excellent customer service together with strong communication skills both orally and in writing.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in accounts payable and be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of what is required backed up by experience in the role.

Experience with Agresso would be desirable.

This role is based at Kew with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.
