Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For almost 50 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse.

Purpose of the Operations Manager role: 

As Operations Manager, the successful candidate will play an integral role in the effective day to day management of key business support services including operations, IT data and premises. The role includes line manage responsibilities of the inhouse team as well as maintaining key relationships with outsourced companies to ensure objectives are met.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Operations Manager:

Operations: 

• Manage the non-pay elements of the Operations Budget, including IT budget. (approximately £400K annually) 
• Ensure that the technical, digital and office environment needs of all staff (across all sites and remote workers) are fit for purpose and adequately resourced
• Compliance with Health and Safety legislation
• Oversee the effective management of communal facilities, office resources and equipment. 
• Responsible to complete, monitor and maintain the Operations Risk Management register.

Data Protection and Management: 

• Provide subject matter expert advice on GDPR compliance and data protection. 
• Responsible for co-ordinating the Data Champions Group to ensure that all Data Protection Polices are kept up to date. 
• Responsible for all Subject Access and Right To Be Forgotten Requests
• Act as the ICO liaison. 
• Responsible for setting GDPR training requirements
• Manage the Intranet and SharePoint sites
• Responsible for ensuring that the CRM operates in line with WA’s IT and GDPR Policies. 
• Responsible for monitoring the ongoing archiving connection.

IT: 

• Work with the external IT contractors to ensure effective delivery of the WA IT strategy. 
• Ensure effective management and coordination of IT systems, equipment, office machinery, premises, and services. 
• Plan, develop and implement strategies for IT
• Ensure organisation wide compliance with IT policies. 
• Manage responsive IT support, maintain central records for externally provisioned services. 
• Oversee the effective use of databases and file storage

• Experience and knowledge of a variety of software packages, particularly MS products
• Line Management experience

The Healthy Ageing Project will address specific challenges within the community, while actively promoting healthy ageing in practical and effective ways across our network.

We will work together with our members throughout this three-year journey. We are looking for an enthusiastic project manager with experience of working in a hospitality or catering environment. Special Events Officer

Charity People are seeking a Special Events Officer to join a humanitarian charity to help assist with some upcoming events, as well as other general event administration. The role will start as soon as possible and require two days per week in their London office, whilst you can work the rest remotely if preferred. This is a 35-hour week role, which can be worked flexibly if required. There is a chance this role could become permanent for the successful temporary post holder. At this time, they really require someone with charity events experience to come in and keep things ticking over nicely. This is an exciting 2 day a week role to be part of the growing Newham District Foodbank and Ascension’s Advice Service. On 9th June 2021 Ascension’s foodbank officially became part of the Trussell Trust network. We were named Newham District Foodbank, because our plan is to expand to more than one distribution centre to ensure that people across the whole of Newham are well supported. As part of the strategy, we have already secured funding to have debt and benefit advisors supporting each new distribution centre.

In this role you will manage the poverty response work of Ascension Community Trust, including its foodbank. You will provide high level strategic work, including liaising with donors, referral partners and other local foodbanks and support new partners into Newham District Foodbank. Your role will include fundraising for and reporting on the work of Newham District Foodbank, including local partnership funding. ABOUT BLACK ROOTZ

Black Rootz is a multigenerational growing project providing opportunities for Black and racially minoritised people to grow food for themselves, their families and their communities. Black Rootz was established in 2019 by a collective of Black growers in Haringey who recognised the need to organise to challenge the deep inequalities in the growing and food systems. Over the past 5 years, Black Rootz has developed a holistic practice for Black and racially minoritised communities incorporating intergenerational knowledge transfer, increased access to land and food sovereignty, regenerative environmental practices and reduced food inequality.

Black Rootz has been incubated as a project within The Ubele Initiative since 2019. As an established name in the growing community, it is now building towards an independent future.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Project Manager is a new role that will provide hands on management capacity to Black Rootz. The role will bring experience and energy to support the delivery and continued development of the project’s core activities; the Community Growing Programme and a new workshop series. The Project Manager will take on a management position and, with support from Ubele, help the project to navigate decisions that will enable Black Rootz to achieve its overall social, environmental, and operational ambitions. 

The successful candidate will be central in Black Rootz’ journey towards a more independent and sustainable future. Hackney Foodbank is looking for a Volunteer Manager to join their team 2 days per week (14 hours).

Purpose and Key Responsibilities:

The Volunteer Manager role is responsible for recruiting, engaging and deploying volunteers into a wide variety of roles across the charity.

• Work with the Warehouse Manager and Food Distribution teams to support the recruitment journey and retention of volunteers. Encourage people to volunteer through a variety of marketing and promotion approaches, including social media and working with our Communications and Fundraising team to develop a strategy for volunteers. Develop, coordinate, and engage a network of around 150 active volunteers. Book and signpost volunteers to relevant and engaging volunteer training sessions. Work with the Warehouse Manager and Head of Food Distribution and Volunteering to resolve any volunteering related issues or complaints. Proactively liaise with the staff team to determine volunteer requirements, select volunteers for the right roles and match them to the right people, considering preferences and restrictions on both sides. Provide advice and guidance to volunteers about their matched relationship (with support from the wider team) and highlight safeguarding concerns as appropriate. Work effectively to ensure volunteers feel part of Hackney Foodbank. Support the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of our services.
• Gathering volunteer feedback and take appropriate steps for improvement.
• Manage the Assemble platform and implement the annual Peakon volunteer survey, and implement the recommendations resulting from the survey.

We are looking for a Supporter Development Manager for a 12 month contract with an inspiring national social welfare charity, to be responsible for delivering exciting projects all designed to generate income or to steward supporters.

This is a hybrid role, with 2 days a week in the London office.

The Charity
A long standing national charity, dedicated to providing life long support from advice services to rehabilitation. They have a staff of c1,500 people securing over 150m last year.

The Role
Plan and manage campaigns end to end,to supporters and shoppers through channels including direct mail, email, telephone, SMS, social media and supporter stewardship events.

Implement supporter development strategies to include welcome communications, upgrade, reactivation and other stewardship-based initiatives to maximise retention.

Work with the Senior Product Managers to produce annual and campaign budgets.

Coach and mentor members of the team in communications expertise and management skills.

The Candidate
Significant experience of planning and managing complex direct marketing campaigns including direct mail and email.

Effective management of multiple key suppliers, ensuring service is to agreed standards

Significant evidence of effective income and expenditure budget management and of producing scenario models and
forecasts.

Experience of managing and leading large and complex projects.
