South London Citizens 

South London Citizens is a thriving chapter with a growing team of ~18 organisers and project staff. We are building the power of communities in South London through borough alliances (in Greenwich, Lewisham, Southwark, Lambeth, Wandsworth, Merton, Croydon) and the wider region by developing community leadership and supporting people to take action on what matters most to them. Over the past three years, we have worked in partnership with mental health trusts to deliver a pioneering organising project, South London Listens (SLL), to prevent mental ill-health, and more recently with wider South London NHS leaders to take action on a range of issues (from low wages to housing conditions) that impact our communities’ health.

Purpose 

We are looking for two Associate Organisers to join our thriving and dynamic team in South London building the power of local communities. These roles will support local organising, and have a specific focus on health and living wage organising.

In this exciting and innovative role, you will work with community organisations, including faith institutions, schools, universities, and community groups. Your primary responsibility will be to

1. build ‘Be Well’ teams to support the wellbeing of their communities, as part of the South London Listens partnership; 

2. find and develop new community leaders within their organisations; and 

3. take action to tackle the social determinants of health inequality (e.g. lack of migration status, racism, housing conditions, low wages and precarious work).

One or both of the roles will also include specific organising with low paid workers to lead the fight for a real living wage and living hours.

A central focus of an Associate Organiser is their own development: learning the craft of Community Organising under the guidance of an experienced Community Organiser. An Associate Organiser is working towards becoming a competent practitioner of the craft of broad-based community organising methodology, and focuses on the building of relational power, the recruitment and retention of dues-paying institutions, the development of leaders, the strengthening of member institutions, leader-led public actions, and the winning of systemic change. Your learning and development will be paramount in the first few months as the responsibilities given to your experience and skills develop.

Main Responsibilities 

Working as an Associate Organiser in South London for Citizens UK your main responsibilities will be to:

Grow and deliver on the priorities of South London Listens and our broader Health organising 

• Build and support new Be Well Hubs in a range of institutions in your allocated boroughs. Including identifying new institutions, delivering training, and supporting them once they are established.

• Work with other organisers to deliver on the priorities identified by communities that are part of the South London Listens project

• Ensure reporting and capturing of stories of the South London Listens project are captured and shared to celebrate and grow the project.

At least one of the roles includes supporting our organising efforts for more just work and wages 

• Identify and develop worker leaders

• Take action with South London Citizens leaders to increase the number of living wage and living hours employers in London 

• Develop and deliver community organising training for worker leaders 

Build relational power to further the goals of CUK 

• Actively participate in the development of a comprehensive power analysis appropriate to the desired sphere of influence for each project/assignment

• Establish working relationships with identified leaders and demonstrate ability to move them into action, including as part of the wider alliance; taking the initiative to establish new relationships as required

• Conduct one-to-ones to develop relationships with leaders and understand their concerns.

• Tell a wide range of Community Organising stories effectively to influence others and achieve CUK’s goals

Identify and develop relational leaders prepared to act with others for the common good 

• Identify and discern actual and potential leaders with the passion and ability to drive change in their borough alliance and through South London Listens.

• Proactively create opportunities for leaders to develop, in particular tertiary or new leaders; nominate for training on the core taster curriculum and Be Well Hubs training.

• Successfully deliver workshops in local institutions, South London Citizens community organising introductions and Be Well training.

Strengthen institutions and develop Broad Based Organisations 

• Ensure good understanding of the basic interests and traditions of typical member institutions

• Organise a small cluster of up to 5 standard member institutions or 1 strategic partner to work together for the achievement of common goals

• Support pre-existing core teams and create/develop new core teams to provide leadership at local level and in South London Listens

Support leaders through the Cycle of Action in order to create change  

• Support member institutions and Be Well Hubs in running listening campaigns

• Organise neighbourhood actions; demonstrating increasing independence in working without the need for close supervision

• Take the lead in supporting groups of leaders through the cycle of action on neighbourhood issues; aiming to achieve neighbourhood and health wins

• Evaluate the effectiveness of actions; demonstrating ability to incorporate lessons learned into future actions

Contribute to CUK’s financial viability through effective fundraising & financial management  

• Contribute to fundraising to the value of at least £20,000 per annum through one or some of the following: 

• WWritinge regular updates on the work to be shared with the funders and maintain a healthy relationship with them

• Recruit new dues paying institutions; work together with a more senior Organiser to negotiate annual membership fees and letters of understanding

• Liaise with the Finance & Operations team to update the membership database and ensure timely invoicing and fee collection

Contribute to effective teamwork and live out our ‘Inclusion’ value 

• Be proactive concerning personal professional development and wellbeing: i.e. by reading widely, developing a healthy work-life balance and demonstrating ability to reflect on own organising craft & improve on self-identified weaknesses

• Demonstrate ability to work effectively with colleagues and participate in a team

• Produce all required reports and follow CUK’s procedures on time and to the required standards

• Contribute towards an inclusive environment for all colleagues and community leaders, so that our spaces are a place where all are able to participate 

Participate in the development of the craft of Community Organising and play a role in the Guild of COs  

• Schedule an average of at least three 1-2-1 relational meetings into your daily schedule as a core part of your professional practice

• Commit 10 working days per annum (pro rata) to the preparation, delivery, and evaluation of Citizens UK National Community Leadership Training or other local or regional trainings or other activities organised by the Learning and Innovation team.

• Participate in a Guild Team and help it develop as a Community of Practice that enables Organisers across the UK to develop their skills and experience.

Role Purpose:

This is a great opportunity to make a significant impact on hundreds of civil society, social movements and community groups around the world, driving funding to where it is needed most. The Head of Development will join the central team, reporting to the CEO and will be responsible for forging relationships with funders, as well as identifying opportunities to engage with local community groups. 

They will share the Social Change Nest’s ambitions to transform funding for grass roots organisations and coalitions by reimagining fundraising, removing structural barriers and encouraging institutional funders to support community interests. They will oversee the Marketing, Communications & Development Assistant and one other team member and will collaborate with Risk, Compliance and the Innovation Managers. This is a busy and exhilarating role with opportunity to grow and develop. We are planning to increase the size of the team over the next year.

Elders Voice is a local charity serving older people in Brent. We are recruiting a CEO to lead our talented and experienced staff team through a period of change to ensure our financial security.

Elders Voice is an established and trusted charity in the heart of Kensal Green. We believe ageing should be a wonderful and worthwhile journey, but for that to happen older people need to feel safe and happy in their homes and have access to affordable activities in an environment that embraces their differences. 

The pillars of our work are a well-respected handyperson service and a day centre offering a range of activities focusing on health and well-being, socialising, art, gardening and intergenerational work with and for older people.

The CEO will need to embrace our aims and lead the EV team to provide services based on holistic, long-term, high-quality relationships and to ensure that older people shape development of our services. RASASC Guildford - Making a difference to the lives of those affected by rape and sexual abuse

Position: Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA)

Hours:                    28-35 hours per week over 4-5 days

This is a new opportunity to join our Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) team.

RASASC is a registered charity which has been providing support to survivors of rape and sexual abuse of all genders (both recent and non-recent) and young people aged over 13, from across Surrey since 1992.

We provide an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) Service. ISVAs support survivors to help them overcome the abuse they have suffered and to rebuild their lives. This service also includes supporting the survivor to seek justice through the judicial system, should the survivor wish.

We also provide one-to-one counselling, group work, youth counselling and a family support programme, and a national telephone helpline and live chat service.

Volunteers are an important part of the work we do. Volunteers staff our Helpline and many of our qualified counsellors work on a voluntary basis with survivors of rape and sexual abuse.

ISVA

ISVAs are survivor-focused advocates, who support survivors of recent and non-recent rape and sexual abuse to enable them to access the services they need in the aftermath of the abuse they have experienced. An ISVA provides individual support and this will vary from client to client.  

This role is based at the RASASC Guildford office and will work across Surrey. The ISVA must have a full driving licence and use of a car that can be used for work purposes.

You will be part of a dedicated, experienced, and friendly team consisting of nine ISVAs. The ISVAs meet fortnightly for peer support and work collaboratively with each other to share knowledge. Each ISVA has a lead area of responsibility in addition to your caseload supporting a range of clients.

You will be provided with monthly clinical supervision and attend monthly one-to-one meetings with the ISVA team leader.

Job Description

• To support survivors of rape and sexual abuse.
• It is the responsibility of the ISVA to impartially advise the client on all options open to them, such as the Criminal Justice System, SARC, GUM clinic and other local services.
• The ISVAs are expected to balance a caseload that includes survivors progressing through the criminal justice process as well as survivors that have decided not to report, or who are no longer in the criminal justice process.
• The ISVA will be based at Guildford RASASC but will be expected to travel throughout Surrey.
• The ISVA is expected to carry out other duties from time to time which are broadly consistent with those in this document, as the job description cannot cover every issue which may arise within the post.

Key Tasks

· The ISVA will provide a survivor-focused, independent service, distinct from the role of a crisis worker or counsellor.

· Undertake risk assessment and support needs analysis with survivor and develop a support plan for the survivor.

· To provide advice and support across a wide range of issues, such as housing, health and education, that will help to support the survivor and ensure their ongoing safety in the aftermath of the abuse.

· Manage caseload and maintain necessary case files and records including monitoring information as required under funding conditions and by RASASC.

· To provide expert advice and support in relation to issues and the impact of rape and sexual abuse on this client group to other members of the ISVA team as well as the wider RASASC team. 

· The ISVA will be required to undertake accredited training specifically designed to support them in delivering this service. This training is held in Manchester and is delivered over six module. Each module is taught over two consecutive days to minimise the amount of time ISVAs are away. Currently this training is delivered virtually although this may change.

• Fulfil relevant monitoring processes as requested by the ISVA Team Leader or the Fundraising Manager.
• To attend monthly one to one supervision with team leader and fortnightly clinical supervision.

Job Title:  Training Lead: Parents and Volunteers

Hours:         2.5 days a week 

Salary:    £32,000 for Cardiff Based/£34,000 for London Based

Reports to:     Head of Services

Location:        Cardiff or London (Brockley SE4)

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate and engaging training lead for our parent and volunteer training programs. The training lead for parents and volunteers will lead on the design, development and delivery of a program of training support for parents impacted by Child Sexual Abuse and will support with the delivery of the training for new We Stand volunteers.

Role Description 

To plan, develop and deliver parent training and workshops for protective parents and carers whose

children have been sexually abused; to support parents and carers to understand and process the impacts of child sexual abuse and learn strategies for supporting their children after abuse together with those who share similar experiences. To work collaboratively with We Stand colleagues, to provide support that is accessible, appropriate, timely and tailored to suit the needs of individual clients.

To contribute to the recruitment and selection of We Stand volunteers including student therapists on placement and helpline volunteers. To lead on the delivery of induction and training for all new volunteers and ensure that they are adequately prepared and supported to begin their placement with We Stand.

Parent Training: 

Parent training and workshops are designed to support parents following a disclosure of CSA. The training focuses on providing parents and carers with the useful information and strategies they need to manage and support their child or young person’s journey of recovery. Via 1:1 or group sessions, parents gain the knowledge they need to help them support their child and regain confidence in themselves.

Key Responsibilities

Design and development of content 

• Setting up an annual program of training and workshop delivery for parents and carers

• Ongoing review and development of content to ensure the program is up to date and tailored to the needs of clients

Managing referrals and Assessment of clients 

• Working collaboratively with We Stand colleagues to promote training and workshops to relevant parents and carers

• Managing referrals to training and workshops and assessing the suitability of clients for the program

• Be a point of contact for parents and carers on the waiting list for training and workshops

Delivery of group and individual training 

• Deliver We Stand’s 4-week training programme for parents and carers

• Be a point of contact and support for parents during and immediately after their involvement in the program

• Where appropriate, deliver 1:1 training slots to parents and carers who require this additional support due to e.g. those with additional needs, high levels of anxiety or a particularly complex situation (including sibling abuse)

• Keep accurate and appropriate records for every parent/ carer attending training and workshops

Monitoring and Evaluation 

• Ensure that robust monitoring and evaluation processes are in place to capture the experience of all parents and carers attending training and workshops

• Analyse evaluation data against programme aims and objectives to ensure outcomes are being met and to inform service developments

• Take responsibility for continuous improvement of processes to support the effective delivery of training and workshops for parents and carers

• Contribute towards reports for funders, and the We Stand Board of Trustees 

• Contribute to relevant fundraising applications, as required

Volunteer Training 

We Stand relies on a team of dedicated and skilled volunteers to help us deliver life-changing support to families impacted by child sexual abuse. We are committed to ensuring all volunteers have the information, resources and support they need to carry out their role effectively and have a positive experience during their time with the organisation. This includes via a comprehensive training and induction programme and ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and selection

• Contribute to the recruitment and selection of new volunteers following a best practice volunteer recruitment process

Induction training programme 

• Oversee and coordinate an annual program of induction training for new and existing volunteers

• Lead on the delivery  of a 4-week programme to induct new volunteers

• Assist with the review and development of content to ensure the program is up to date and tailored to the needs of volunteers

Monitoring and Evaluation 

• Ensure that robust monitoring and evaluation processes are in place to capture the experience of all volunteers attending induction training

• Analyse evaluation data against programme aims and objectives to ensure outcomes are being met and to inform training developments

Other duties: 

• Attend regular clinical supervision, supported by We Stand

• Attend regular We Stand staff and team meetings

Situated in the Programmes, Policy & Impact Directorate, and reporting into the Head of UK Programmes, the Programme Lead, Carer Poverty Alleviation is a new role linked to the development of a new major programme operating in England, Scotland, and Wales. The Carer Poverty Alleviation Programme is a new Carers Trust programme under our strategic goal that no carer is pushed into poverty or is financially disadvantaged by their caring role.

The Programme Lead role is the fulcrum for this new partnership programme, will be comfortable to lead within and outside of the organisation and in developing a new team to drive the programme to success. This role will excite you if you are an established programmes specialist who is energised by achieving social impact via meaningful delivery partnerships, which in this case are local carer organisations (Carers Trust Network Partners).

You will join a small team of housekeepers working mainly at our Community/Justice/ Counselling services. Well-managed spaces make our buildings great places to be ensuring they are efficient, secure and pleasant environments. You will work with the Soft Facilitates Manager to carry out planned cleaning duties from a schedule of works. You will also need to build in capacity for reactive cleaning as required. 

A key part of the role will be to work with project managers and the Soft Facilities Manager to ensure solid housekeeping provision. You will ensure the efforts of you provide a high level of cleanliness, and cleaning complies with health and safety standards too.

You will have a usual place of work at either Katherine Price Hughes House, Highbury or Wincott Street, Lambeth as we have two Housekeeping roles available, but be required to work flexibly across the property portfolio if business needs demand this. You will facilitate end of licence/tenancy cleaning preparing these spaces for new residents, or you could be asked to provide cleans between room hire in our counselling and our community spaces. The post holder will ensure their working practices are safe and compliant with the organisation’s health and safety guidelines. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

PEOPLE SUPPORT 

• To support the Soft Facilities manager in achieving excellent housekeeping across Strides. This will be discussed in monthly supervisions. 

FINANCIAL COMPETENCE 

• To work with the soft facilities manager in keeping costs to a minimum. 

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES 

• To follow instruction around recording work as guided by the soft facilitates manager. 

• To update portals and systems relating to flow of works, both scheduled and reactive if required.

SERVICE DELIVERY 

• To follow the agreed schedule of works in each building.

• To support the team with room inspections. 

• To have an awareness of risk in working practices. 

• To keep abreast with current COSHH and Hygiene regulations and other matters relating to safe working practices. 

• To keep good stock control of cleaning supplies.

• To monitor the standard of our buildings ensuring standards are consistently high. 

• To attend planned meetings as required, including the staff conference and other organisational events.

• To occasionally carry out specialist duties as agreed with the relevant manager (e.g. specialist cleaning if adequately trained). 

• To report maintenance issues promptly if found. 

ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

We require a housekeeper who can demonstrate the following competencies to a high level. The desire to do well in the role is more important than direct experience of a similar role and transferable skills are welcomed. We will be looking for evidence in the following areas during the selection process:

• Sound Organisation and planning skills 

• Excellent communication.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA 

• An accredited qualification in facilities housekeeping, or a willingness to work towards this once confirmed in post.

• Experience of domestic cleaning duties 

• Working knowledge of COSHH (Control of substances hazardous to health). 

• Experience of dealing with people directly in a community building and/or residential setting and/or business premises. 

• An ability to communicate effectively in English, and an ability to communicate with people whose first language is not English. 

• Ability to use IT, including Microsoft Office.

• An understanding of Safeguarding responsibilities, or a willingness to learn these standards. 

• An understanding and commitment to the principles of Equality, Diversity and inclusion as it applies to the workplace.

We are seeking a Payroll & Finance Administrator to assist the Executive Director: Finance and Resources with completing administration and payroll tasks to ensure a smooth running Finance Team.

You will administer aspects of donations and income, post donations received into our CRM system liaising with the Director of Fundraising, conduct Gift Aid claims, generate reports and utilise the CDS system to ensure all data is correctly entered and support given to all administrators.

You will administer the payroll and receipt system. Additionally, you will reconcile all costs, generate invoices and check that timesheets, holidays and absence are recorded correctly. This role requires you to work Monday to Friday but you must be willing to be flexible as and when required.

You must have a minimum of five A*-C GCSE passes, including Mathematics and English (or equivalent). Additionally, good IT skills, especially in Excel and administrative, recording and reporting skills are essential for this role.

Their creative flair and understanding of what mobilises individual giving audiences will help them to develop compelling propositions for support. As individual giving lead, the Senior Income & Engagement Officer will join War on Want at a very exciting time. We have recently launched a new supporter mobilisation strategy to bring transformative growth to our supporter base, both increasing participation with War on Want campaigns, and increasing the number of active War on Want members who support our work with regular monthly donations.

This position would suit an experienced fundraiser who’s looking to take ownership of an individual giving strategy. In doing so, they will oversee a significant proportion of War on Want’s income and engagement Programme and make a valued contribution in the fight against global poverty.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Royal Hospital Chelsea where we are seeking an exceptional individual to join the Chelsea Pensioners Veterans’ Outreach  (CPVO ) team in a new role as a Veterans’ Outreach Officer. 

 The CPVO programme is aimed at extending an offer to older service veterans, inviting them to engage with our In Pensioners and enjoy the sense of community and comradeship that is at the heart of the Chelsea Pensioner community. While most of our programme activity is centred on the Royal Hospital Chelsea estate in London, the programme seeks to expand in reach to other UK regions where there is a sizeable veteran population who might benefit from engagement with our team of Chelsea Pensioners, staff and volunteers. There are also plans to develop a digital offer.

 The Veterans’ Outreach Officer will support  the Head of Veterans’ Outreach in developing and managing the programme of activities encouraging engagement and social interaction between Chelsea Pensioners and other service veterans thereby helping to alleviate the social isolation and loneliness felt by many older veterans. Responsibilities will include promoting the programme within veterans' networks and finding innovative ways to connect with veterans; the management of themed events both at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and further afield as we seek to expand nationwide. The role also involves significant data collection and analysis to inform the strategy, evaluate delivery, and identify fundraising opportunities.
