The role
We’re looking for a Volunteer Development Officer to support us in the delivery and development of high quality volunteering across our organisation. You will champion and support volunteering in Citizens Advice and influence the position and profile of volunteering across the service. You’ll work closely with the Head of Volunteering to support the delivery of the new volunteering strategy, ensuring that stakeholders from across the organisation are engaged in its development. You’ll provide operational volunteer management direction and support and maintain high standards in volunteering through the provision of guidance, tools, information and training.

OVERVIEW

Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (the Rising Sun) is an independent charity in Kent working to prevent domestic abuse and improve the lives of survivors and their children suffering from its effects. We have an ambitious vision for a world in which women and children live free from actual or threatened domestic abuse and all forms of violence.

Our team provide a range of services to adults and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse. We understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and so we listen to individual needs and respond in a trauma informed way. We provide one-to-one support and also deliver therapeutically informed group programmes to help survivors to recognise healthy/unhealthy behaviours in relationships and to understand the impact of domestic abuse. Bringing survivors together validates experiences and enables them to draw strength from one another.

We are looking for a creative and proactive individual who has experience of supporting survivors of domestic abuse. Working with survivors of domestic abuse as an outreach worker, you will play a crucial role in advocacy, risk assessment, safety planning and empowerment.

As part of our passionate and committed team of approximately 45 staff, our aspiration is that you will thrive and develop in this varied role. You will be contributing to the invaluable work of the Rising Sun and making a lasting difference to the lives of those who are impacted by domestic abuse.

JOB PURPOSE

• To provide practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse, including crisis intervention, risk assessment and safety planning.
• To develop individual support plans, which address the risk of harm and offer information, advocacy, advice and signposting to survivors, underpinned by individual risk and need.
• To empower survivors, thereby increasing self- esteem, reducing isolation and helping survivors to keep safe.
• To provide survivors with information relating to their rights and ensuring survivors are empowered to make decisions based on their options.
• To work in collaboration with the adult team and wider Rising Sun team to support other programmes delivered within the organisation.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Service delivery

• Work as part of a team providing high quality support, advice, advocacy and information to survivors of domestic abuse.
• Manage a caseload in accordance with organisational policies and procedures and adhere to confidentiality.
• Work in a needs led way with a specific focus on a trauma informed approach, which recognises domestic abuse and its impact.
• Work holistically with survivors, recognising individual needs, and help survivors to recognise and build on their strengths and abilities to build self-esteem and resilience.
• Offer support face to face or remotely, via phone or video call, depending on the needs of the survivor and current guidance around social distancing.
• Attend regular supervision and appraisals with line-manager.
• Work effectively in partnership with other agencies and refer on appropriately, dependant on need and risk. This may include referral to specialist agencies, to other specialist DVA services or other external processes (for example MARAC).
• Assess risk to individuals on a regular basis using the DASH risk indicator checklist.
• Work with survivors to develop tailored support plans with a focus on reducing the risk of harm, increasing their personal safety (and that of any children) and responding to their individual needs.
• Support survivors to be able to identify and manage the risks to themselves and their children
• Provide information to survivors in relation to their options, including guidance in relation to their housing, legal and welfare rights and advocate on their behalf as required.
• Encourage service users’ participation in service development, continuous improvement and feedback exercised.
• Represent the Rising Sun at relevant community meetings and forums.
• Support Rising Sun’s community services including our One Stop Shop drop in service and group programmes.
• Maintain up to date and accurate records and ensure, reports and evaluations are completed as required.
• Work as part of a team, supporting colleagues and building positive working-relationships with team members.
• Contribute to wider team meetings and discussions to share learning and feed into organisational developments.
• Be willing and available to work some evenings and weekends as required to support wider team activities such as representing Rising Sun at events (time off in lieu can be taken by arrangement with your line manager).

General

Swindon’s welcome, accessible space in the heart of the town is looking for two Hub Coordinators - to help us grow, build and do more: by and with the community. It's a great chance to get active and make a real difference in this diverse town.

You’ll be working with a dynamic group of volunteers and visitors, helping to keep the Hub running day-to-day, as well as taking on a special focus of your own.

One special focus will be reaching out and drawing in: connecting with communities, groups and people around Swindon who are not using the Hub; building relationships, working in partnership and organising events and activities to see that the Hub is as inclusive and diverse as it can be.

Summary of Role

This is an exciting new role in our Talking Therapies team providing vital support to people in Manchester with common mental health problems. Working alongside counsellors, you will provide wrap-around social and practical support to adults on our waiting list for or who are engaging in Talking Therapy to enable them to address and overcome barriers impacting on their health and wellbeing. You will provide advice, information and guidance on these issues, make onward referrals to specialist advice organisations where necessary and support engagement with these services. 

You will build and maintain relationships with key referrers, such as GP surgeries, to promote the service and facilitate appropriate referrals.

Once trained, you have the exciting task of leading and facilitating a new course within the service: Living Life to the Full™, a CBT-informed group programme designed to support people to improve low mood, overcome stress, sleep better and build confidence.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Westway Trust as a Property Assistant, providing efficient and responsive administrative support across the full property team. You will be a friendly, motivated, and active administrator who will play a key role in the smooth running of the property department.

You will be pro-active, organised, with good initiative being the main point of contact responding to estate and property related enquiries and reports of issues, from tenants, customers, contractors and the community.  You will therefore need to possess or demonstrate a willingness to provide a good level of customer service with property knowledge.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Provide efficient and effective administrative support across the Property team, including daily active filing, archiving, photocopying, scanning and record keeping.
• Initial point of contact for enquiries to the Property team.
• Provide a responsive customer service handling system to record such enquiries.
• Coordinating the general day-to-day activities of the Head of Property & Estates in relation to emails, posts, and voicemails.
• Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of property particulars, void reports, and reviewing property marketing websites for current information.

Knowledge and Experience:

You will join a small team of housekeepers working mainly at our Community/Justice/ Counselling services. Well-managed spaces make our buildings great places to be ensuring they are efficient, secure and pleasant environments. You will work with the Soft Facilitates Manager to carry out planned cleaning duties from a schedule of works. You will also need to build in capacity for reactive cleaning as required. 

A key part of the role will be to work with project managers and the Soft Facilities Manager to ensure solid housekeeping provision. You will ensure the efforts of you provide a high level of cleanliness, and cleaning complies with health and safety standards too.

You will have a usual place of work at either Katherine Price Hughes House, Highbury or Wincott Street, Lambeth as we have two Housekeeping roles available, but be required to work flexibly across the property portfolio if business needs demand this. You will facilitate end of licence/tenancy cleaning preparing these spaces for new residents, or you could be asked to provide cleans between room hire in our counselling and our community spaces. The post holder will ensure their working practices are safe and compliant with the organisation’s health and safety guidelines.

PEOPLE SUPPORT 

• To support the Soft Facilities manager in achieving excellent housekeeping across Strides. This will be discussed in monthly supervisions. 

FINANCIAL COMPETENCE 

• To work with the soft facilities manager in keeping costs to a minimum. 

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES 

• To follow instruction around recording work as guided by the soft facilitates manager. 

• To update portals and systems relating to flow of works, both scheduled and reactive if required.

SERVICE DELIVERY 

• To follow the agreed schedule of works in each building.

• To support the team with room inspections. 

• To have an awareness of risk in working practices. 

• To keep abreast with current COSHH and Hygiene regulations and other matters relating to safe working practices. 

• To keep good stock control of cleaning supplies.

• To monitor the standard of our buildings ensuring standards are consistently high. 

• To attend planned meetings as required, including the staff conference and other organisational events.

• To occasionally carry out specialist duties as agreed with the relevant manager (e.g. specialist cleaning if adequately trained). 

• To report maintenance issues promptly if found.

• An accredited qualification in facilities housekeeping, or a willingness to work towards this once confirmed in post.

Job Purpose: The Adult Carers Service supports carers aged 19+. The service provides practical, emotional and planning support so that carers are supported to maintain their caring roles, increase their resilience, and support them plan for the
future to avoid crisis. The Carers Support Coordinator will work in close collaboration with the Services Manager and SMT to support the implementation and development of the Bromley Well Adult Carers Service. Context of the role.

The successful candidate will be guided by the Communications & Fundraising Officer to communicate the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers and demonstrate the impact of Upbeat Communities to our supporters and followers, as well as to new audiences. They will have a positive attitude and love communicating what we do as a charity.

The role can mostly be done remotely; however, it will be required for the candidate to travel to our base in Derby a minimum of 1 day a week to stay connected to the team, and for team meetings and training as and when they occur.

Content creation

•  Creating written and visual content for social media and our website.
• Finding useful resources, articles, and news to be shared on our website, blog and social media.

Social media and website

•  Day-to-day management of Upbeat’s social media accounts including creating and scheduling content, replying to messages, and interacting with followers.
•  Updating the website with relevant images, statistics, and news.

Supporter stewardship

• Following Upbeat’s donations process, ensure donors are thanked in an appropriate and timely manner, and that all communications are logged on to our database (Donorfy).
• Researching local fundraising or awareness-raising opportunities and events.

Other

• Working with Upbeat’s Communications & Fundraising Officer on larger-scale fundraising campaigns throughout the year, as well as the communication of these campaigns.

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

Contract: Permanent

We are looking for a reliable and committed person to be part of our team of advisors providing information, advice and emotional support to carers, working collaboratively with colleagues and other organisations to achieve this.  Experience of providing such support is essential and prior working with carers desirable.

The work is primarily telephone based, but there are times when face to face support is required.The role may also include undertaking talks and presentations to both promote and raise awareness of the service and our organisation.

The Role

The purpose of this role is to ensure that unpaid carers have access to the information and advice they need when they need it and to help them carry on caring for how long as they wish to do so whilst looking after their own health.

Main duties

(i) To be the first point of contact for all unpaid carer wishing to access a service provided by Carers in Hertfordshire

(ii) To identify carers’ needs and provide information, advice and support to unpaid carers, primarily by telephone and email

(iii) To support unpaid carers with advice through case work and to manage own caseload, prioritising cases as appropriate.

(iv) To contribute to capturing unpaid carers’ experiences through careful record-keeping using organisational systems.

(v) To source, collate and maintain organisational knowledge of local and national service provision appropriate to unpaid carers’ needs.

(vi) To attend some meetings and events for unpaid carers.

(vii) To support the early identification of unpaid carers through the maintenance of collaborative relationships with other service providers and the provision of information on unpaid carers’ issues to Carers in Hertfordshire’s provider networks. 

(viii) To ensure unpaid carers are aware of all Carers in Hertfordshire services and can use them, according to their wishes.
