Support Officer
We take great pride in the personalised, tailored support we offer, no matter what difficulties someone is facing, and the feedback we get from the people we help, who consistently tell us we’ve made a life changing - even life-saving - difference.
Our support services team is at the very heart of that and we have an unusual opportunity for someone amazing to come and be part of it.
The Role
There’s no such thing as a typical day in the LionHeart support services team as the cases we support are as individual as everyone who calls us. We support people from the very beginning of their careers as graduate surveyors or apprentices, through to retirement and beyond. You could be supporting someone through illness or work-related stress, arranging legal support or counselling, or helping someone who’s been out of work become more confident in their interview skills.
You'll operate the helpline on a rotational basis, providing information, advice and support for the professionals who get in touch, no matter what challenge they are facing. You will manage your own caseload, providing a tailored package of support to meet need and encourage steps towards independence - ranging from people who need short-term help and advice or access to a single service, to more complex situations where you may work with someone over several months providing multiple services.
We’re looking for someone who is well-organised and can work independently, yet is a good team player who can work with colleagues and external partners to provide the best support possible for RICS professionals and their families.
We want someone who has at least three years’ experience of working/ volunteering in a supportive role with members of the public, with excellent communication skills and great attention to detail. Most important of all is the ability to deal compassionately with individuals, while maintaining confidentiality at all times especially when handling sensitive information.
As an employer, we pride ourselves on a real commitment to work-life balance and a fun, flexible and exciting working environment that is fully inclusive and welcoming.
We also offer training opportunities and staff development days.
We would like to encourage diverse applicants for this position as we are actively seeking to diversify the team throughout the organisation.
The shortlisting process will be anonymous in order to mitigate unconscious bias and ensure a level playing field for all applicants. This means that the shortlisting panel will not have your name, address or any other demographic or other characteristic information at the point of shortlisting.
We are proud to be a Disability Confident Committed Employer. If you have a disability and you meet all minimum requirements of the job as set out in the JD and Employee Specification you will be put forward for interview.

Are you passionate about children’s safety and have the skills and experience to excel in this role and help reclaim the internet for young people? We would love to hear from you!
Children’s online safety is both an important and an urgent issue and the need for our unique work here at Breck Foundation is greater now than ever. Our organisation was founded in 2014 in response to the tragic loss of Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old boy who was groomed and murdered by someone he met online. Our work aims to prevent this from ever happening again. Our work saves lives. We reach thousands of children and young people in schools and other community settings with Breck's story every year. Our talks and educational materials fill a gap in the current UK curriculum that otherwise leaves children vulnerable to online grooming and exploitation. With 98% of young people now active internet users, current and future generations grow up having to navigate new and evolving digital dangers. Last year we saw a 133% growth in the numbers of young people facing homelessness coming through our doors. Now, nearly half of them are - or recently have been - sleeping rough and with the numbers of young rough sleepers in the capital growing at an alarming rate, New Horizon Youth Centre has had to take decisive action to unlock support and housing for this group. The Head of Services - Rough Sleeping is a brand-new role for the organisation and will lead on developing a new internal strategy for young people facing rough sleeping, as well as holding operational oversight of our established youth-specific street outreach function and emergency accommodation hub, both of which are unique in London. You will need to be strategic in approach and an excellent relationship builder. You will act as our lead colleague on relationships with the Greater London Authority and London Councils’ rough sleeping teams, working with them to ensure our learning and insights inform policy and ultimately open up access to emergency support for those under 25. Alongside this you will need a keen eye for operational detail, have experience of delivering homelessness services, and be passionate about piloting new solutions to prevent homelessness among young people. More than anything you will need to champion what young people can achieve, be committed to collaborating with others and determined to find a way.

If so, St Giles has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Caseworker to work on our pioneering SOS+ project, where you will provide vital support to 10-15 young women up to 25, who are involved in serious youth, violence, county lines, exploitation, and criminality.
About St Giles Trust

You will develop safety and care plans with each client and their families, ensuring that they are equipped to understand the factors which can make them vulnerable, put them at risk and know where to access support if they need to, while also delivering ongoing dynamic risk and contextual safeguarding assessments.
We will count on you to provide important advocacy and support to young people with regards to welfare and financial advice, housing options and/or how to sustain tenancies, rent arrears, access to suitable and affordable housing, and how to access education, employment, and training (ETE) opportunities, as well as facilitating access into positive activities to divert young people away from criminality, offending and harm. Developing and maintaining relationships with referral and regional agencies, being responsible for two volunteers and participating and attending team and strategy meetings and child protection conferences, are also key aspects of the role.

• To have a relevant qualification to a good standard, or be working towards one
• An understanding of the Government’s Prevent (anti extremism) programme
• Knowledge of services for offenders and patterns of offending in London borough/s
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, verbal and written
• A flexible, collaborative and professional approach to your work.
We actively encourage people with personal experience of the criminal justice system or lived experience of the issues facing this client group to apply for this role.
