As a Support Worker at Ace of Clubs drop-in day centre supporting people who are homeless and facing adversity, you will play a key role in supporting individuals who may be navigating chaotic lifestyles, trauma, and multiple disadvantages. You will provide practical and emotional support, help people access essential services, and work to empower them to move towards independence.

Your role will involve working directly with service users, managing case records, liaising with partner agencies, and contributing to the smooth running of our busy centre. Ultimately, you will support people to overcome barriers, develop essential skills, and build confidence in navigating life challenges and providing advocacy where needed.  In particular, you will be on duty as Support Worker during our busy, daily lunchtime service - responding to the needs of a variety of guests – on a busy day we can reach 150 – 200 guests visiting our service.

In addition, Ace of Clubs works with a wide range of volunteers and partners on a daily basis including food partners, health partners, corporate, individual and client volunteers.  Your role will also be required to support the team in the smooth functioning of these areas, for example liaising with partners on site, showing around volunteers or feeding back any issues during lunch service.

You will also be required to support the Centre Manager with the operations and building’s co-ordination, including carrying out weekly health and safety checks as required, i.e. fire alarm checks, legionella checks etc., meeting onsite contractors, counting and logging cash takings, responding and filtering the central email account and making food and supplies orders. You will be provided with comprehensive training in these areas.

Support Coordinator

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and well organised individual to join the Stroke Recovery Service across Birmingham and Solihull.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following a stroke.

Position: S11327 Stroke Support Coordinator

Location: Home-based, Birmingham and Solihull. However, regular travel will be required as part of this role (will include team meetings and other work-related meetings)

Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week

Salary: Circa £16,400 per annum (FTE circa £27,435 per annum)

The Role

Reporting to the Stroke Association Service Delivery Coach, the coordinator will work with the local Health and Social Care services to receive referrals and support stroke survivors and their carers. As a coordinator you will provide personalised information, advice and support with regular reviews throughout.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Working with the local Health and Social services to receive referrals to support stroke survivors and their careers.
• Providing personalised information, advice and support to address any needs identified.
• Completing Needs Assessments with stroke survivors and supporting them to develop a stroke recovery plan.

About You

The post holder will:

• Have a background in a caring and/or charity profession supporting people with disabilities.
• Be able to demonstrate previous experience of working collaboratively with other organisations to achieve joint ambitions.
• Have experience of working with people who may have additional communication support needs.
• Have the ability to use basic Microsoft system.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

The Lead Coach is primarily responsible for overseeing the training room and group sessions with young people. You will help shape the training environment and will confidently adapt and deliver materials and sessions to work within the group’s development towards work readiness.

Delivery of Spear Programme - Group and 1:1 coaching [60%]

• Preparing and coaching Spear Foundation sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme.

Training the Assistant Coach [10%]

Main areas of responsibilities are:

Safety and security

• Provide a friendly and professional front-of-house welcome to residents, visitors and staff, and ensure the building is safe, secure quiet and welcoming

As an Engagement and Assessment Worker, you will be part of Crisis Skylight Brent’s Engagement and Assessment Team, providing a high quality, non-judgemental and safe service to individuals who approach our Skylight Centre. Engagement and Assessment Workers are the first point of contact for a range of enquiries from people who are experiencing homelessness for the first time, individuals with complex and multiple needs, visitors, volunteers, and supporters. You will be providing information about Crisis’ services, delivering a high-quality triage and assessment service, and offering Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) on local homelessness and other related services. You will also manage a small caseload.

Crisis uses a case management approach, and the successful candidate will attend case management meetings, reflective practice, and team meetings. You will also work collaboratively with external partners and Crisis Skylight London’s Coaching and Learning Teams.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Experience of working with homeless or other vulnerable groups and understanding of the importance of respecting confidentiality, showing empathy and sensitivity, and working in a boundary way.
• Experience of assessing presenting needs and working in a Psychologically Informed Environment, and in a way that ensures that members with all levels of need can access the service.
• Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to delivering the highest standard of customer care and high quality IAG.
• Good knowledge of homelessness, housing and welfare legislation and Safeguarding procedures.
• Strong interpersonal skills including effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to deal with challenging situations with a calm approach.
• Ability to manage a caseload, and successful relationships with external service providers and partners.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

We work with up to 12 young people at a time, providing a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment. Many of the young people joining us are moving on from hospital, stepping down from more intensive placements, or transitioning from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult services.

We deliver 24-hour trauma-informed and psychologically informed support. As a Specialist Support Worker, you will take a lead role in supporting young people with more complex mental health presentations - using advanced judgement to identify changes in presentation, contribute to risk planning, and confidently engage with clinical professionals to ensure the right interventions are in place.

The Specialist Support Worker role involves early shifts (7:30 - 15:30/8:00 - 16:00) and late shifts (14:00 - 22:00) throughout the week, including some weekends each month.

What you'll bring:

Essential:

Significant experience supporting young people or adults with complex mental health needs, ideally in hospital discharge, step-down or supported accommodation settings.

Strong understanding of risk assessment, safety planning and safeguarding, with confidence to escalate concerns appropriately.

Proven ability to work autonomously, make sound decisions and remain calm in high-pressure or crisis situations.

Confident in supporting young people to develop daily living skills, independence and community integration.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including accurate recording and information sharing with professionals.

Desirable:

Level 3+ qualification in Health & Social Care, Psychology, Mental Health, or related field, or equivalent professional training.

Experience contributing to multi-disciplinary meetings such as ward rounds, discharge planning or CPA reviews.

Experience mentoring or supporting the development of less experienced staff.

Experience embedding trauma-informed or psychologically informed practices (PIE, DBT-informed work, recovery approaches).

Lived experience applied professionally and appropriately in a support setting is welcomed.

About our Complex Needs & Community Services

Hertfordshire Mind Network’s (HMN) Complex Needs and Community Services have rapidly expanded. The services portfolio includes, The Community Support Services, The Domestic Abuse Service, Bounce Back, Complex Needs Housing Service, Flourish (for refugees and asylum seekers), Primary Care Network Service, Peer Support, Wellbeing Services and our newest services at The Sadie Centre. The services provide one to one outreach and community-based support for people across Hertfordshire as an alternative to statutory pathways. As an integral member of our diverse team, you will work closely with staff supporting services with administrative needs.

About You and the Role

The Mental Health Administrator will be a key member of the Complex Needs and Community services, providing effective administrative support to the team, ensuring accurate and effective policies, communication and procedures are in place.

Key responsibilities

• To support the Complex Needs and Community teams to process referrals and make 72-hour initial referral phone calls
• To be the first point of contact for HMN callers via telephone, email and in person – providing high quality service to every person
• To undertake responsibility for admin duties for the Complex Needs and Community teams, including the processing of mail, responding to internal/external e-mails, word processing, entering accurate statistics, sending out reminders, staff training audits, record keeping audits, diary management and letter writing.
• To work in line with standardised administrative systems across HMN
• To work with the Team Leader for Peer Mentoring for groups to manage admin inboxes, send out meeting place invites and coordinate Peer Mentoring services
• To support with monitoring and evaluating services
• To check and process invoices
• To support the team with recruitment admin and staff induction
• To provide sickness/annual leave cover for our wellbeing centre admin teams, answering the main switchboard to answer enquiries
• To support the Director of Complex Needs and Community and the wider Senior Leadership Team as required with administrative tasks
• To support the teams as appropriate with client casework
