About the role

Your key purpose will be to manage a shop that raises funds for the organisation while also delivering a positive experience for customers, donors and volunteers.  This role blends retail management, people leadership and charity governance.

This role requires experience of charity retail, preferrable in a supporting or managerial role. You will have an ability for resilience and being adaptable, showing a commercial awareness whilst reflecting the charities ethics. You will need to show you are fair, patient and empathetic leader.

Your role in our mission….. 

To ensure we can continue our important work, our Fundraising team are incredibly important. Since the pandemic, fundraising at Marie Curie has been through a lot of change. However, the organisation recognises the importance of our activity within communities across the UK and community fundraising has been invested in.

What you will be doing

• Be the primary contact for supporters, patients, and families and offer excellent service to supporters through various communication channels. 
• Develop strong internal relationships to enhance fundraising efforts and support Marie Curie activities. Help identify and engage new supporters.
• Record, bank, and process supporter income in line with Marie Curie policies. Maintain accurate financial and supporter records.
• Provide stewardship for Fundraising My Way participants, local fundraising groups, volunteers, and third-party eventers.
• Manage collection site bookings and permits, contact volunteers, dispatch materials, and ensure proper follow-up and record-keeping for collections. 

What you will need

• Good verbal and written communication skills demonstrating a sensitive approach
• Good IT skills including Word processing, email and spread sheets and a working knowledge of databases
• Excellent people and customer service skills.

• Able to engage with supporters and families in support of their fundraising activities.
• Driving licence and access to car is preferred but not essential

About the opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, supportive Business Support Team and play a central part in delivering high quality printing and posting services that make a real difference to people affected by dementia.

As a Business Support Print Officer, you will help run a busy and reliable Print Room that supports colleagues across the Dementia Support and Partnerships Directorate and beyond. You will produce a wide range of printed materials that meet our brand guidelines and reflect the professionalism and compassion that Alzheimer’s Society stands for.

Your work will help ensure that people living with dementia, their families and carers receive clear, timely and accessible information from the services they rely on. You will also support the success of Alzheimer’s Society events and groups by providing the materials needed to promote, inform and guide participants.

The role also occasionally includes digitising paper records so that important information is stored securely and can be accessed appropriately. You will work carefully and in line with our information governance and data protection requirements.

This is a role with real purpose, contributing directly to earlier diagnosis, better support and improved outcomes for people affected by dementia.  There will also be opportunities each year to come together in person as part of the wider Business Support team to build relationships, share learning and shape our service.

Important:

About the role:

This Best Companies Top 100 mid-sized organisation and Top 20 Charity is looking to appoint a Neonatal Support Worker (35 hours, 5 days per week)' as part of a developing programme delivering high quality wrap-around care and support to families with a baby receiving treatment on the Neonatal Intensive Care units within the London & South East region, working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team supporting the families.

The Supporter Relations and Fundraising Operations team at Alzheimer’s Research UK is a key point of contact in the charity for supporters and members of the public and ensures the highest standards in operational processes and compliance, in order to ensure a first-class supporter experience.

The Supporter Relations Executive will be responsible for delivering supporter facing engagement activities ensuring delivery of an excellent experience for every contact, recognise opportunities to increase supporter loyalty, and generate the maximum amount of income for dementia research. This role primarily works within the Supporter Relations sub- team alongside other Executives. To ensure appropriate resourcing across the wider team and maintain SLAs, the role will also carry out donation processing and other operational tasks relating to supporter activities, where required.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Supporter Enquiry Management

· Provide exceptional supporter care, ensuring every supporter and member of the public enjoys an outstanding experience when engaging with the charity, in all communications: inbound telephone calls, emails, social media messages and enquiries by post.

· Respond to a wide range of enquiries including marketing campaigns, donations, fundraising events and requests for materials, within a timely and professional manner. 

· Receive and respond to feedback and complaints from members of the public and supporters, as the first point of contact in the team, escalating where required.

· Ensure the integrity of the CRM database, Salesforce, by amending supporter records accurately, including coding of and processing donations.

· Promote fundraising, engagement and retention opportunities when communicating with supporters, using a range of initiatives to explain the positive impact of their donations in contributing to the charity mission, ‘for a cure’.

· Engage in outbound telephone calls and written communications to increase the value of, or to retain supporters; this will include thanking, stewardship activity, obtaining Gift Aid declarations and vulnerability checks.

· Support the Fundraising Relationship team to manage accounts specific to their regions, to ensure excellent supporter stewardship.

· Effectively and consistently seek opportunities to build networks among our fundraising community, ensuring these are directed to appropriate fundraising teams.

· Seek opportunities for repeat fundraising, by identifying opportunities and engaging with supporters as part of our re-engagement process.

The successful applicant will also manage service reports in Salesforce, report back regularly to the management team, as well as developing links with other mental health services or appropriate agencies.

Though Bipolar UK does not offer Crisis Support, the successful applicant may have to direct members of our community experiencing a crisis to relevant services and will also be responsible for recognising and reporting Safeguarding incidents within the bounds of Bipolar UK’s Safeguarding Policies.

Essential

You can demonstrate:

• Significant experience delivering training, or group learning, with the ability to adapt style for different audiences.
• Confidence delivering sessions digitally, a longer-term development may include in-person, (flexibility around reasonable adjustments will be made).
• Strong awareness of mental health conditions and their impact, including bipolar disorder.
• Experience delivering self‑management, psychoeducation or wellbeing‑focused programmes.
• Have a clear understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion in learning environments.
• Ability to create and adapt accessible, inclusive training materials.
• Experience training professionals at varying levels of seniority.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Maintain accurate records of delivery, attendance and outcomes
• Gather participant feedback and contribute to continuous improvement of course materials and delivery methods
• Maintain excellent records throughout course delivery, whilst ensuring feedback and course evaluations are completed and developed.
• Confident user of Microsoft Office and willing to learn new software as required.
• Understanding/adherence to confidentiality/GDPR and also safeguarding policies and willing to undertake training as role requires.
• Co-ordinate promotion, scheduling, delivery and follow-up working close with colleagues in Services, Fundraising and Comms.
• Work with colleagues in Fundraising to further develop the Workplace Friendly Scheme

Practical Information

• This role involves online delivery and some travel
• Evening or weekend delivery will be required for some courses and/or workshops.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Advice Centre is central to our work. The advice we provide offers clarity and confidence. When people understand their circumstances, they feel safer. In moments of uncertainty, clear guidance can make a massive difference, and that’s why we’re here to offer support that helps our Visitors feel safe, informed and understood. This role administrates the operational service within the Advice Centre, triaging the needs of Visitors and coordinating Advisor and volunteer appointments.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• To coordinate the Advice Team’s appointments and schedules.
• To be the Advice Team Lead:
  • reviewing Advice Centre processes, and adopting appropriate changes to enhance service delivery
  • lead on daily briefs and monthly meetings with Advisors and Steps2Work Coordinator
  • report any issues or challenges to Operations Manager where necessary
• To quickly assess the needs of Visitors and decide whether they need to be seen urgently, or to book them an appointment.
• Lead the daily brief of Advice Centre volunteers to ensure that they are up-to-date with current issues, events and are familiar with advice processes.
• To ensure that volunteers are utilised effectively throughout the Advice Centre with support and guidance.
• To maintain Advice Centre record-keeping through the collection of Visitor data and input into our database (AirTable). Includes the creation of new records for newly registered Visitors. In addition, to ensure that personal information held about Visitors is checked for accuracy periodically.
• To ensure compliance with GDPR legislations and Harbour’s Data Protection Policy by ensuring Visitor information is not available to public view, and all documentation is safely and securely stored.
• Create information posters and signs for the benefit of Visitors and/or volunteers.
• Be the admin for Harbour’s Community and Volunteer WhatsApp groups.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

• Committed to the values and charitable objects of The Harbour Project.
• Reliable with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• A good understanding and application of the principles of Safeguarding, particularly in relation to people at The Harbour Project.
• Proficiency in database management and maintaining accurate digital records as well as having basic IT skills, with the ability to use systems such as Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets and Drive)
• Evidence of entitlement to work in the UK.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

• Experience in assessing individual needs quickly and accurately to determine urgency and appropriate support pathways.
• Experience leading staff or volunteers, including running briefings, conducting meetings, and providing ongoing guidance.
• Ability to manage complex schedules, appointment systems, and team rotas.
• Experience working with refugees, people seeking asylum, or vulnerable people.
