This innovative and exciting safeguarding officer role will build on our current provision to collaborate on safeguarding across several church denominations to ensure a safe, relevant and caring Church safeguarding environment for all. You would be working for Churches Alive in Mann (CAiM) as part of their ecumenical partnership, providing safeguarding support and services for the four denominations who are the lead contributing partners in this initiative (Roman Catholic Church, Church of England, Methodist Church and the Living Hope Community Church).

The ideal candidate will have:

• A relevant professional qualification or the equivalent (for example, in social care or criminal justice), with current professional registration where applicable.
• The ability to transfer good safeguarding practice to a non-statutory organisation, working with colleagues from a non-safeguarding background and achieve good safeguarding outcomes in that context.
• Experience in developing effective new ways of working for an organisation.
• Experience in cases involving the protection and safeguarding of children and/or adults, with at least some of that experience gained in a statutory agency. 
• Experience of working with victims, survivors and perpetrators of abuse.
• Experience of assessing risk.

FareShare’s pioneering Surplus with Purpose scheme works with businesses across the fresh produce sector to help cover the extra costs of redistributing their unsold food to people who need it and preparing unfinished surplus food for redistribution.  FareShare will redistribute thousands of tonnes of surplus fresh fruit and vegetables nationally to charities and community organisations that need it, saving it from going to waste.

Working with the volunteer management team and other key personnel, this role will be involved in attracting and supporting the retention of new volunteers for Surplus with Purpose-related work.  You will also promote the benefits and opportunities of volunteering at EMERGE to the wider community. You’ll be a strong communicator, happy to jump on the phone or take the lead at in-person recruitment events.  You’ll have experience in the community or voluntary sector and strong data management skills to ensure we can accurately report to funders on our outreach and track the volunteers who participate in the programme. An understanding of handling confidential data, meeting targets and deadlines, and experience in recruitment are key skills for this role.

A little bit about the role 

Please note that this role will be closing on Tuesday 26 August at 9am.

As a member of the Admissions & support team, you will be supporting the recruitment and development of new social workers, who will then go onto change the lives of vulnerable children and families. You will play a key role in supporting the completion of all suitability checks (conduct, health and previous social care involvement) for Approach Social Work applicants, managing competing deadlines and multiple applicant cases at any one time.

The role requires a qualified social worker with experience of statutory practice and ideally substantial working knowledge of implementing reasonable adjustments in practice. The role involves primarily risk assessment to inform often difficult discussions around health, conduct and social care experience for applicants to Approach Social Work. Experience of taking part in panels, navigating sensitive discussion around criminal, conduct, previous social care involvement would be required.

Our suitability advisors are social work qualified and experienced members of the team who hold a vital position in ensuring all pre-programme checks are completed fully and fairly, for applicants to Approach Social Work. Suitability advisors are responsible for completing risk assessments where for applicants who disclose criminal, conduct, previous social care matters or disabilities which may need to be considered pre-programme. Suitability advisors also provide organisational guidance on conduct, reasonable adjustments and disability.

The ideal applicant must be a qualified social worker who is registered with Social Work England, and be able to prioritise a busy caseload with multiple deadlines. This role will suit someone passionate about the future of the social work profession, and who holds equity, diversity and inclusion at the heart of their work.

The West Midlands Synod of the United Reformed Church (based in Yardley), is looking for an individual to provide technical expertise on buildings and property in support of Synod Officers, members of Synod Committees and local churches.

The successful candidate will be working to a wide brief and is expected to undertake a range of duties including, but not limited to, advising and initiating action on property issues in local churches, overseeing quinquennial inspections and manse inspections, and providing advice on property-related matters to Synod Committees.

About the Role

We are looking for a Cleaner to join our Team.

Our 627 sqm facilities host over 40 members and staff each day, providing a vibrant space for support services, creative projects, and events. As our Cleaner, you will be responsible for the cleaning and general upkeep of the centre and offices of Headway East London. You will play a vital role in maintaining a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for our community. Your work will ensure that our centre is not only a functional space but a place where people feel valued and cared for.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Working with an agency cleaner to perform cleaning duties as per the cleaning schedule, to ensure satisfactory levels of cleanliness throughout the building.

• Contribute towards retaining our 5 Star rating kitchen standards by supporting the kitchen team with post lunch cleaning.

• Work flexibly to support with ad hoc cleaning around out of hours events.

• Update the admin team when supplies of consumables are running low, ensuring that basic supplies are always available.

• Update the Admin and Premises Manager with any observation of health and safety risks and concerns.

• Assist the Admin and Premises Manager to improve and maintain our health and safety standards.

• Secure the building at the end of the day.

Key Responsibilities

Spear Programme

• Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work
• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees. This includes running application workshops with past Trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics

Relationship management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations
• You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre

Church Community

• The Spear Coach is directly employed by Preston Minster, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
• You will be required to establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement and backing of church members
• Supporting the Centre Manager in ensuring Spear is a key missional feature of the work of the church; this may involve attending church events and speaking at services
   

Centre operations

• Support the wider Spear team and senior leadership team in developing the financial sustainability of Spear Preston e.g. gathering data for funding applications, organising community fundraising events
• Work with relevant members of the ministry team, particularly youth and student ministries to further embed Spear into the life of the church

Experience-wise, we're looking for someone familiar with analytics tools like Tableau, Faststats, or similar. First-hand experience with CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge would be advantageous, especially in the charity sector, and if you're curious about data science or even have experience in this area, even better.
