Location: Various Sites across Greater London.

Salary: (Salary band 4.1) £35,022.58 - £36,590.75 per annum, pro rata at 37.5 hours per week (placement depending) - (Please note, successful candidates are usually appointed at the bottom of the relevant band)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract: 6 Month Secondment

About the Service

Our Peripatetic Team provide front-line support to Solace’s Advice, Community and Accommodation-based Services across London. Peripatetic Workers enable our services to deliver a consistent, high standard of service.

The team was created in order to have trained, skilled staff ready to cover gaps in service and facilitate the continued smooth running of services, proactively supporting women and children who have experienced domestic abuse.

About the Role

As the deputy service manager you will cover vacancies in management or specialist roles, delivering a high quality support service to survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.

As the service manager you will oversee and lead on the following areas of work of which there is more details in the job description.

  1. Operational Management of the Service
  2. Lead and develop a staff team of up to 7 members
  3. Quality assurance, Managing both staff and service performance
  4. Promote Solace and retain relationships in the borough
  5. Ensure Financial accountability & compliance
  6. Evidence outcomes and produce reports
  7. Corporate responsibilities

The length of a placement within a service can range from several weeks to a few months. You will receive a local induction to the service at the start of the placement. Placements can be in any of the following services:

Advocacy and Support

Refuge

Children and Young People

Therapeutic

Multiple disadvantages

About You

If you demonstrate commitment, innovation, passion, non-judgemental attitude and collaboration, you’ll thrive in our diverse feminist team of professional women.  

You will need to be comfortable with working independently and navigating teams and processes with confidence.  Many of these teams may be experiencing change or uncertainty so building relationships and managing these dynamics will be a vital part of the role.

Ideal candidates will have: 

  • Sound understanding of practical, emotional, social and economic issues affecting survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.
  • In-depth knowledge and confidently advising on a range of options including safe housing, criminal justice, civil remedies and risk management.
  • Demonstratable knowledge of adult and children safeguarding
  • Experience managing staff
  • Experience managing a project
  • Have Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good understanding of Data collection and use of Microsoft packages
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritising workload and crisis management
  • Sensitive and non-judgemental approach when working with vulnerable clients
  • Experience in risk assessment, management and safety planning
  • CAADA/Safe Lives/Women’s Aid IDVA or DAPA qualified (Desirable)
