When a person or their family member sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience. They can feel very isolated and that no one understands what they’re going through.

Back Up’s mentoring service is there to help. We know that peer support can have a life changing impact and our Mentoring Coordinators are the ones who can facilitate this through matching them with a suitable mentor who will be able to support them over a series of phone calls to reach their goals.

In addition to creating mentoring relationships, as a Mentoring Coordinator you will support mentors and mentees as appropriate, assess mentee suitability and provide support in the process of identifying, recruiting and training new mentors.

Mentoring Coordinators will be motivated to achieve the aims, targets and milestones that have been set in terms of making quality matches and will be comfortable and efficient with data management and GDPR compliance.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As the Senior Income Generation Manager, you will be instrumental in spearheading income generation initiatives to achieve our Business Plan objectives. Working closely with the Head of Development and Quality, as well as our Senior Leadership Team, you will envision income generation proposals that leverage our strengths and foster synergies within our community-based services. • Good understanding of funding sources for the public and voluntary sector, particularly within homelessness services.
• Familiarity with commissioning and procurement processes related to the voluntary sector.
• Experience in managing or delivering fundraising targets and creating comprehensive fundraising strategies.
• Proven track record in successful bid and grant applications, from conception to delivery.

When a family member has a spinal cord injury, it can be difficult to acknowledge and accept that their injury will affect you too.

You might find it difficult to express and share how you have been affected by these events, especially to your loved one with the injury. Overwhelming feelings of guilt, helplessness, confusion and isolation are very common. 

Back Up’s Family Support team are there to help. Right from the point of injury, our Family Support Coordinators work together with the family and the injured person to create their own ‘Family Plan’ - making sure they have access to information and support throughout the rehabilitation journey.

As a Family Support Coordinator, you will build relationships with professionals to encourage referrals and manage a caseload. Whether it be meeting family members in a clinical setting, providing a listening ear from someone who ‘just gets it!’, or making referrals for ongoing support from a range of partners or statutory agencies – you will be passionate about being able to demonstrate the impact of what we do, and will see for yourself how Back Up quite literally transforms lives.

As Finance & Operations Administrator you will have a key role to play working closely with the trustees and Head of Fundraising & Communications to co-ordinate activities,  to ensure day to day operations in the UK run smoothly.  

The role as advertised covers a broad range of activities. However there will be peaks and troughs of workload. 

This job is for you if you are:

-  A qualified accountant or bookkeeper with experience of Xero ideal (training can be provided).

- Confident working with Microsoft Office (Excel & Word) & Shared drive (eg, GoogleDocs).

- Comfortable working with a variety of IT packages, or learning how to do so 

- Very organised, able to take the initiative, able to work independently.

- Experienced working in a small but ambitious organisation, or are confident you can adapt to such an environment

In a typical month you’ll:

-  Support the Chair of Finance; preparing monthly accounts. Processing receipts and payments for bank reconciliation; invoices and expense claims.   Filing finance documentation. Maintian the restricted v unrestricted donation records, Gift Aid schedules, HMRC returns.

-  Support  the Head of Fund Raising and Communications, liaising with donors (sending receipts, requests for information), researching potential donors, preparing grant applications, ordering brochures and marketing information. Acting as a day to day point of contact. 

- Support the Chair and Vice Chair of Trustees;  helping to prepare and distribute monthly meeting agendas, supporting papers, co-ordinating virtual meeting schedule, drafting and distributing minutes, .- 

-  Support the Chair of Governance ensuring Trustee and Staff Handbooks (policies and protocols), risk register, are uptodate and accessible via the website portal. Lead the administration process for the recruitment of trustees and staff, including the preparation of candidate packs, advertising, induction. Oversight of the EFA Partnership Agreements.

- Support the Chair of Educaton re liaison with relevant external auditors (safeguarding, health and safety, risk). Linking with Moroccan partners to agree on timing and arrangements for audit visits. Ensuring reports are available to trustees as agreed. 

- General ad hoc support to trustees, staff and external stakeholders as required.

Support Coordinator

We’re looking for an innovative, passionate and professional individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join our Stroke Recovery Service based in Rochdale area.

This is an exciting, remote working opportunity, to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following a stroke.

Position: S11172 Stroke Association Support Coordinator

Location: Home-based, Rochdale, however, regular travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)

Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week (flexible work available)

Salary: Circa £16,043 per annum (FTE circa £26,700 per annum)

Contract: Our services are contracted, we currently have funding for this contract until 31 March 2025.

The Role

Job Purpose

Money Minded is a new service designed to support adults (18 years and over) in Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hounslow. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate closely with the West London NHS Mental Health Teams, operating within the tri-borough area.

The service provides support with welfare benefits, accessing debt support, housing and well-being. The role of the Mental Health Information and Advice Officer will be to provide advice, guidance and customer representation to tri-borough residents living with Mental Health difficulties. Advice issues may include housing, welfare benefits, council tax, accessing debt support, signposting etc.

The successful candidate will deliver support to enquirers and manage a caseload of individuals, as agreed with the Service Manager. In addition to advice casework, the Mental Health Information and Advice Officer will also be expected to assist onboarding referrals to the service, as and when needed.

The successful candidate will work closely with the West London NHS Mental Health teams and project volunteers, ensuring adherence to the Advice Quality Standard framework (AQS) and Mind's policies and procedures.

Due to the nature of the work, if successful, you will need to have an up-to-date DBS check completed, prior to undertaking unsupervised client work.

Place of Work

The Mental Health Information and Advice Officer will be required to work within the West London NHS Mental Health team offices.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver support to enquirers and manage a caseload of individuals as agreed with the service manager
• Deliver monthly wellbeing peer support groups/workshops
• Provide advice and information relating to all welfare benefits, including assisting clients with form filling and contacting agencies such as the Department for Work & Pensions on their behalf

Knowledge & Experience

This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician experienced in child mental health to deliver our ‘Clinical Practice in Context’ module, which forms part of the curriculum for our two-year full-time MSc programme in Developmental Psychology and Clinical Practice and consists of 2.5 hours of weekly lectures/seminars throughout Term 1 (usually 10 weeks in October-December). The MSc programme has an intake of around 18-20 students per year from a range of diverse and international backgrounds. In their second year, students have an opportunity to apply their clinical skills by undertaking a placement within a child and adolescent mental health setting, while continuing to attend lectures and seminars as well as conducting a clinically based research project. We are looking for a researcher to support our team with delivery of our research and policy programmes. 

The post will suit someone looking for a junior research and policy role, who is passionate about social change, enthusiastic about Demos’ mission, able to work across multiple projects, and wants to work with and support the development of a collaborative and dynamic team. We are looking for people with an interest in research and policy and ideally some practical experience of research design and delivery. This experience can be either in an academic or professional setting - even if you haven’t worked in a think tank before, we would still be interested in hearing from you. Responsibilities 

You’ll be involved in the delivery of research and design of research materials, using qualitative and quantitative methods to undertake original research to inform evidence-based policy recommendations. You will be looking for opportunities to develop your project management skills. 

You’ll write high-quality research reports, blogs, and other outputs for a range of audiences, and work with our External Affairs team to communicate our research findings clearly, compellingly and creatively. 

You’ll help develop Demos’ networks with different stakeholder groups, including policymakers, industry, academic, media and civil society. You will be keen to identify fundraising opportunities and support writing proposals. 

You’ll work within our core research and policy team, working on a range of projects related to our pillars:

• Citizen Economy - that helps people to participate in our economy and spreads prosperity throughout our communities

• Public Service Reform - that empower communities, encourage prevention and improve outcomes

• Collaborative Democracy - that enables participation by citizens and improves the policy making process

About you

We’re looking for an innovative, passionate, and professional individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join our Stroke Recovery Service based in Liverpool on a fixed-term basis.

Location: Homebased, Liverpool. However, frequent travel across the area will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)

The Role

The service aims to identify and address the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway, by providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes.

The Stroke Association Support Coordinator will:

· Support new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.

Your role as a Senior Service Designer will involve designing end-to-end journeys of a service or product as well as the processes and steps to make that journey work.
