This role is the first point of contact for journalists getting in touch with the Trussell Trust. The role is accountable for handling media enquiries; checking and responding to the press inbox; media monitoring and securing press coverage. The Press Officer will assist with media work through print, online and broadcast news to help build understanding, awareness and consideration of the organisation’s mission and goal. The Press Officer will support and advise colleagues, food banks in the network and external stakeholders to ensure they receive media coverage of strategically important projects.

Role responsibilities 

· Handle incoming enquiries and provide accurate, timely and appropriate responses, briefing journalists in line with the Trussell Trust’s key messages and priorities.

· Build relationships across the organisation, within the food bank network, with external stakeholders such as corporate partners, and with journalists to assist with securing coverage across national, regional and local media to reach new audiences and build cause awareness

· Horizon scan for media opportunities and develop innovative integrated communication plans, overseeing advice, statements, timelines, and key messaging to engage specific audience segments.

· Arrange spokespeople for interviews and support with organising and managing press visits to food banks, as well as photo calls, to support the organisation’s communications priorities and campaigns 

· Circulate regular coverage updates across the organisation and help maintain and develop media databases, key performance indicator reports and other admin systems and processes to ensure continuous improvement 

· Act as the media lead on proactive projects that help build understanding and awareness of both Trussell Trust and the food bank network’s strategic objectives.

· Participate in regular 1:1s and annual reviews, contributing to the identification of objectives and targets, and monitoring of progress towards them 

· Participate in an out-of-hours rota for media enquiries.

Person Specification 

Technical skills and minimum knowledge: 

·  Experience of working within a press office environment/PR

agency with a track record of securing high-impact coverage.

· A confident communicator who demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Demonstrates experience of tailoring communication for different audiences and circumstances. 

· Knowledge of UK national, regional and local media and how to leverage them to get key messages out to the public. Some experience of handling media enquiries and speaking to journalists. 

· Has a clear idea of priorities and manages own time appropriately while delivering key outputs and replying to requests in a timely fashion

About the Team

This interim role reports to the Director of Communications, Policy and Campaigns (CPC), alongside other Assistant Directors.

The CPC team drives Shelter's campaigns for social housing and renters' rights, supporting our services and income generation efforts.

You'll manage heads of important content and engagement teams, driving strategic direction and collaboration across functions.

As Assistant Director Communications and Content, you'll lead Shelter's communication efforts, ensuring impact, reach and a coherent organisational voice.

Main duties and responsibilities

We’re looking for a Senior Digital Engagement Manager to head up our Digital Team, taking the lead on driving forward the organisation’s digital marketing and communications. You’ll work with the Head of Marketing and Communications to develop and deliver the digital elements of the wider marketing and communications strategy, and line manage senior officers who lead the operations and development of our website, social media, email marketing and paid advertising activities. 

You’ll play a lead role in maximising digital marketing opportunities, raising the profile of the organisation, communicating information, services and campaigns to new and existing supporters, and using insights and data to drive engagement and growth across the organisation. You’ll be the go-to expert for major initiatives that require digital support, from communication campaigns to change projects. You’ll also bring insights into the latest trends and developments in the digital marketing landscape.

You’ll be a digital all-rounder with enough hands-on knowledge and experience to support your operational leads, and the ability to think strategically, guiding the team and driving forward new ideas and initiatives. 

We are looking for an Operations Officer to support our Head of Training and our associate training team and, on occasion, the wider team, to organise and deliver our training and consultancy services

Essential skills

Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Power Point.

Highly proficient in the use of online platforms, including Microsoft Teams 

2+ years proven work experience in a similar role

Use of accounting software, Xero (desirable)

Responsibilities

Support the marketingof our training courses and consultancy.

Creating/scoping new systems and/or software to support data management systems. 

Handle new bookings, including liaising with external commissioning clients.. 

Schedule training sessions, distribute training manuals, evaluation forms and other materials. 

Manage and maintain the training calendar, including creating, managing and sending out meeting links, and acting as the contact for our team of associate trainers

Provide TEAMS / Zoom support for our virtual training delivery, and organise logistics for in-person delivery

Manage invoicing and payments

Provide other administrative support to  team members as required

About the role

As CEO, you'll support us through a new stage in our development. We're operating in a fluid political environment and so our new leader needs to be confident to work in a political setting while also having the skills and experience to run an organisation like ours.

You'll take ultimate responsibility for our campaign to achieve Proportional Representation in the House of Commons. You will:

• as leader of the campaign, be primarily responsible for building the popular and political momentum needed to secure this seismic reform;
• as leader of the organisation, be primarily responsible for defining and executing MVM’s strategy, while ensuring its good financial health and legal and regulatory compliance; and
• as leader to our staff and volunteer team, be primarily responsible for providing clarity of direction while ensuring the organisation maintains a collaborative, empowering and inspiring culture.

You will:

• lead the UK campaign for Proportional Representation;
• ensure MVM has a clear external brand, with consistent messages, effective and emotive arguments, and impactful use of evidence;
• be a spokesperson for the organisation on a variety of public platforms including national media and at key MVM events;
• create and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders;
• lead on development of MVM's post-election strategic plan;
• line manage and delegate responsibilities to staff, as appropriate;
• take ultimate responsibility for the good governance of MVM, including but not limited to the organisation’s financial health, legal compliance, and good standing with regulatory bodies;
• with support of relevant MVM staff, to ensure that the Board is supported in performing its governance role;
• support and comply with MVM’s policies active within the organisation pertinent to the role; and
• undertake other related duties as required to assist MVM in meeting its objectives.

Support and Development Officer – East and West Midlands

• Salary of £23,634 per annum

Reporting to the welcome team manager and sitting within the service delivery team, we’re looking for some who is: 

• Committed to engaging and empowering volunteers and older people. 
• Experienced in using a CRM system to capture, store, and retrieve information on all stakeholders. 
• Solution focused and committed to using technology to find solutions and to improve performance. 
• A skilled and confident communicator able to engage on the phone with people of all ages. 
• Familiar with working in a fast-paced environment with experience of working to deadlines and meeting performance related targets. 

Key responsibilities 

• Supporting volunteer and older people applicants in your region through the onboarding process.  
• Leading online group volunteer inductions, checking references, and conducting ID checks.  
• Conducting informal calls with older people applicants, ensuring that our services meet their needs.  
• Collaborating with colleagues to identify applicants for volunteer roles or older people referrals.  
• You’ll also be part of the team which responds to phone and email enquiries and that provides high quality support to older people and volunteers.  

We put the safeguarding of our older people, volunteers, and colleagues at the heart of everything we do and as such, this role will be subject to an enhanced criminal record check.

About you

The Membership Engagement Officer (MEO) is a key role which inspires and engages our membership to be active and fulfil their role and purpose while remaining compliant with the Legion’s Membership handbook and policies. We are looking for an effective, diligent multi-tasker with excellent customer service and communication skills who can both support and challenge.

The MEO provides organisational support, advice and information to our members, and works closely with County Committees, membership central team staff and other departments.  This a varied role which covers a range of duties from connecting and building relationships with Branches to compliance oversight and responding to membership queries.
