Job description

Location: Hybrid · West Sussex · East Sussex · Buckinghamshire · West Berkshire · Surrey · Oxfordshire · Hampshire, Homebased in the South East

About the role

Please note: this role requires regular face-to-face casework across the South Coast, predominantly within the Hampshire region. Applicants must be willing and able to travel extensively within this area.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full-time Casework Administrator to join the Southeast Regional Office at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. Our region covers Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey and Sussex.

While much of the administrative and casework support is delivered remotely, this role will involve regular in-person visits to beneficiaries, primarily along the South Coast (with a strong focus on Hampshire). This is an essential and integral part of the role.

You will be responsible for providing specialist administrative support and undertaking casework across the Southeast region, including both virtual (telephone-based) and face-to-face engagement. You will work closely with colleagues across the Regional Office to ensure a consistent, timely and high-quality service is delivered to SSAFA beneficiaries.

To support you in this role, you will receive a comprehensive induction and training programme. You will work closely with the Regional Casework Managers and Regional Manager.

This is a home-based, lone-working role, with regular travel required. All travel expenses will be reimbursed. You must have a fast, stable broadband connection in your proposed workspace.

About the team

In this role you will be working closely with colleagues in the Southeast Region Office, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger team which includes 2 Casework Managers, a Regional Operations Manager and a team of 8 Regional Casework Co-ordinators.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. The successful candidate will have experience of using their own initiative, planning and managing their workload with minimal supervision. You should be experienced at writing descriptive reports following a recommended structure. This role requires you to be a resilient person and it would be advantageous if you understand the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape would be valuable, but not essential.
