HOPELINE247 Adviser (Night Service) – Birmingham

We are looking to recruit HOPELINE247 Advisers to provide individually tailored suicide prevention advice and guidance to young people and those who are concerned for them via our national multi-channel helpline HOPELINE247 and deliver suicide prevention training online and in community settings across the UK.

What you will do:
• Work as part of a team providing suicide prevention support to a range of clients via multichannel communication platforms.
• Work on a 7-day shift system
• Use professional judgement to assess the needs of the service users who present with risk to life and manage and report any matters related to safeguarding.
• Maintain accurate records and input data monitoring into the data base system.
• Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practise.
• Provide training, mentoring and coaching to new recruits.

To be successful in this role you will have:
• a degree or professional qualification in Health or Social Care, Community Work or a related discipline
• previous experience of working in an advisory capacity in suicide prevention or mental health
• a proven record of working directly with vulnerable young people
• experience of providing advice and guidance via multiple communication channels
• the ability to empathise, support and build rapport with suicidal people and those who care about them, remaining non-judgemental and adhering to the remit of the service

Salary: £30,272 per annum (Scale point 24) progressing by increments to £33,594 per annum (Scale point 28), based on 33 hours per week. As a night shift worker, you will receive an additional allowance of £10 per night shift. This will be paid on a monthly basis along with the salary.

Hours: Various shift patterns available (16.5 hours, 25 hours & 33 hours per week contracts)

Working arrangements: This role will work shifts starting at 10:25pm and finishing at 7:45am. Shifts will be on a rota basis across a 7-day working week.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Develop, deliver and monitor the fundraising strategy for the Charity

• Establish a process for active stewardship

• Work with the CEO to ensure fundraising targets are met and manage an effective pipeline across different income streams: corporates, trusts & foundations and individual giving.

• Research and drive new opportunities for multi-year commitments from trusts and foundations

• Source and nurture corporate supporters – both corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sponsorship

• Work with the wider team to develop a consistent approach to our individual funding ask from alumni.

• Lead on the preparation and submission of high-quality, effective applications and report on grants awarded.

• Create a programme of cultivation events which nurture existing partnership relationships and underpin the creation of new ones.

• Oversee the development of inspiring digital content and collateral to attract new and retain funders and fundraisers to the charity.

• Ensure accurate record-keeping of corporate partnerships and relationships in our CRM system. 

• Ensure that our work complies with fundraising best practice, GDPR and other relevant legislation.

Person specification 

This role requires an ambitious, passionate and determined individual with outstanding written and verbal communication skills. You’ll be curious, inclusive, creative, flexible, resilient and have a collaborative working style with a proven ability to work as part of a small team.

You’ll have an excellent understanding of the English language and a keen eye for detail.  You’ll flourish working to deadlines which you will meet because of your exceptional time management and organisational skills. 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate

• At least three years fundraising management experience

South Uist Renewable Energy Ltd (“SURE”) is seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Director for a fixed term of three years.

SURE operates a 6.9MW windfarm on behalf of the community of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides.  The existing board members are democratically elected by the community and this new, renumerated position represents the first board vacancy that is also open to non-residents on a co-opted basis.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a technical windfarm expert to join the SURE board at a pivotal time.  Upon appointment, the new Non-Executive Director will meet with the Chief Executive and the management team for a comprehensive induction into the operations of the business. 

Standard duties of board membership apply to this role and the collective SURE Board:

• Set the strategic direction of the company

By scheduling weekly calls from our trained volunteers, Age UK's National Telephone Friendship Service provides older people with a chance to make a new friend from the comfort of their home.

As a Friendship Coordinator, you will play a vital role in coordinating and supporting the thousands of matches between our members and volunteers across the UK. Whether you are answering emails and calls, ensuring safeguarding measures are upheld or supporting members and volunteers through the onboarding processes, you will be helping to ensure this much needed service reaches those who need it most, in a safe and efficient manner.

Utilising your excellent customer service skills, you will be the first port of call to support our volunteers and older members - so you'll need to be comfortable spending a lot of time on the phone and communicating by email. You'll also need to be passionate about supporting older people and have a good understanding of older people's needs.

This role can either be based at our office in Blackpool, or in Ashburton Devon. We offer a hybrid model of home and office based-working, so you will need to be within a reasonable distance of either the Blackpool or Ashburton office and be willing to travel there regularly. As a guide, the team currently work from the office once or twice a week but please be aware this could increase.

You will work a 35-hour working week, 5 days out of 7 with start and end times between 8am and 6pm. It will include weekend and bank holiday shifts, which will be arranged on a rota basis.

Campbell Rd Young Peoples service provides support and housing for 55 young people in Tower Hamlets that are either leaving care of affected by youth homelessness. The Support Worker role will be to manage a caseload of approx 7-10 young people .You will be expected to deliver positive outcomes for all our young people and support them to reach independence, keep safe and maintain their tenancy's. Aside from support workers delivering support there is a strong element of housing management associated wit this role, for example managing rents, raising/monitoring repairs and health and safety.

Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers

Age UK's Telephone Friendship Service is recruiting for Friendship Coordinators to join our growing team!

Loneliness is a major issue that is now widely recognised in society today, particularly amongst older people. By scheduling weekly calls from our trained volunteers, Age UK's National Telephone Friendship Service provides older people with a chance to make a new friend from the comfort of their home.

As a Friendship Coordinator, you will play a vital role in coordinating and supporting the thousands of matches between our members and volunteers across the UK. Whether you are answering emails and calls, ensuring safeguarding measures are upheld or supporting members and volunteers through the onboarding processes, you will be helping to ensure this much needed service reaches those who need it most, in a safe and efficient manner.

Utilising your excellent customer service skills, you will be the first port of call to support our volunteers and older members - so you'll need to be comfortable spending a lot of time on the phone and communicating by email. You'll also need to be passionate about supporting older people and have a good understanding of older people's needs.

This role can either be based at our office in Blackpool, or in Ashburton Devon. We offer a hybrid model of home and office based-working, so you will need to be within a reasonable distance of either the Blackpool or Ashburton office and be willing to travel there regularly. As a guide, the team currently work from the office once or twice a week but please be aware this could increase.

You will work a 35-hour working week, 5 days out of 7 with start and end times between 8am and 6pm. It will include weekend and bank holiday shifts, which will be arranged on a rota basis.

In this role, you will also have the chance to work with a wide range of channels and activities, including digital, mail, and telephone, to create supporter-focused communications that create an emotional connection with our supporters. You will use your deep knowledge and expertise to assess and select content that best represents AAUK and our development achievements. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating compelling and high-quality final copy for our Child Sponsorship, Next Step, and Regular Giving programs.
