Custody HAWk

We are currently looking for a Custody and Probation HAWk workers to be based in a Prison Establishment and Probation Delivery Unit (PDU) to support The Probation Services objective in reducing reoffending.
The fixed-term contracts (ending July 2027) we are recruiting to are based across the below:
- HMP Thameside & a London Probation Delivery Unit (PDU)
- HMP Isis & Bromley Probation Delivery Unit
- HMP Wormwood Scrubs & Kew Foot Road Probation Delivery Unit
In this role you will be assessing clients’ housing needs and take action to prevent homelessness by;
- Supporting clients to retain existing accommodation or to relinquish tenancies to avoid accruing rent arrears and debt.
- Supporting clients who will be homeless on release to access appropriate accommodation.
- Working alongside The Probation Service to achieve set interventions to prevent homelessness
- Working as part of a larger team based across 10 prisons and multiple probation offices
The post requires the successful candidate to be based in prison establishments & PDU’s 5 days per week (with one home working day each fortnight)
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
- Some experience of working with ex-offenders and people who are homeless/at risk of becoming homeless
- The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency team within the prison and probation environment and to maintain effective relationships with external agencies.
- The ability to work flexibly in a changing and often challenging environment
- The ability to work to agreed deadlines and targets.
- The ability to cope with clients with multiple needs, who may display challenging behavior.
