Job description

Are you passionate about building a high-performing team to support clients experiencing homelessness?

We are looking for a Deputy Manager to join the Hammersmith & Fulham Supported Accommodation Pathway. The pathway consists of supported accommodation for 129 clients across seven sites, including 24-hour staffed complex needs hostels and semi-independent services.

In the role of Deputy Manager you will support the Service Manager at The Coninghams, which is a 24/7 complex needs hostel with 31 residents. We work with some of the most vulnerable clients in the borough using psychological and trauma-informed methods.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the development of staff and services that are focused on recovery, working towards our clients moving forward into independent living and achieving their goals. You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the team in the day-to-day development and management of the service.
  • Ensure residents have a safe, welcoming home, with staff who work in a caring, flexible, and approachable way.
  • Line manage staff, providing motivation and supervision to deliver high-quality, recovery-focused, person-centred support.
  • Foster a team culture that involves residents in St Mungo’s projects and local community activities.
  • Work standard office hours (Mon–Fri), with flexibility to meet service needs outside these times.

About you

To thrive in this role, you must be adaptable to a fast-paced environment and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the housing and support needs of people experiencing homelessness.

  • Previous line management experience isn’t required, but you’ll have experience motivating staff or volunteers to deliver high-quality support.
  • You’ll contribute to and draw strength from a supportive, experienced team.
  • You’re a proactive problem solver who seeks support when needed.
  • You’ll help the service manager lead with a positive culture and uphold high standards for staff and clients.
  • You’ll collaborate across teams, services, and stakeholders to achieve strong outcomes.
  • You’ll maintain a recovery-focused, trauma-informed approach, keeping clients at the centre of everything we do.

We are working hard to create a diverse and fully inclusive culture where everyone feels valued and we welcome applications from all under-represented groups, particularly Global Majority candidates who are underrepresented at this management level.
