Rough Sleeper Navigator
Are you passionate about making a lasting difference, using your skills to help people experiencing homelessness achieve homes that last?
This post is offered as a 12 month fixed term contract (secondment for internal applicants)
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Kensington and Chelsea Navigator Team as a Rough Sleeper Navigator. We work with a fixed cohort of identified rough sleepers, providing bespoke, through care case work to individuals who require specialist support and multi-disciplinary approach to remain away from the streets and sustain secure accommodation; and avoiding a return to homelessness.
In the Navigator role you will
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders including local authorities, other homeless services and housing providers.
- Provide a client centred approach, offering support and advice to access health care for physical and/ or mental health conditions, work and training opportunities and the relevant support for other support needs.
- Support the outreach team by taking lead with complex clients cases, developing clear and detailed action plans which effectively articulate recommendations and influence partner agencies to secure agreement and achieve positive outcomes.
Where you’ll be working
- In this role you will work across different locations to ensure support is provided to clients where it is needed, across London in team offices, on the streets, local day centres, housing options and in people’s homes
- Core hours are 9-5, Monday – Friday, however, flexibility will be required and the post-holder will be expected to work some evenings and bank holidays as well as occasionally supporting our Outreach team with some shifts.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who shares our aims, and will be dedicated to empowering people to make positive change. If you can bring the below, we encourage you to apply:
- Commitment and understanding around the issues faced by homeless and vulnerably housed people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services.
- Thorough understanding of professional sector-specific working practices, the ability to work with a considered and trauma-informed approach, with good professional boundaries.
- Influencing and networking skills, able to present written and verbal action plans in a multi-disciplinary environment, to ensure the right support is in place for clients.
- Good communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with individuals, sometimes in a relatively short space of time, and to maintain relationships, regardless of the situation.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills are required as you will be working independently including lone working across London.
A DBS disclosure check is a requirement for this post and will be undertaken for the successful candidate.
