The Role:

The Activities Coordinator will help develop activities for members of the community accessing our Social Care and Open Access services. We would like to grow the range of social, creative and physical activity sessions delivered at the Centre, in our 3-acre park and in venues across the North East of the borough. 

This is a new post, which means you will have the opportunity to shape both the role and how we deliver this work for the community.
 
The key strands of the role are: 

Activity and timetable coordination: To coordinate and timetable the activities based on the needs of the community. This will involve supporting with the recruitment and onboarding of new coaches and facilitators.
 
Participant engagement and facilitation: To build relationships with people accessing activities, providing them opportunities to connect with one another, raise awareness of services and support available both at the Centre and locally and, provide a space for people to develop new ideas and co-produce activities.
 
Service development: The activities on offer will inevitably change over time to reflect the needs of the community. The role will work closely with the Centre’s delivery teams to ensure activities respond to the needs of, and feedback from, people accessing services. We will provide the opportunity for Open Access sessions (i.e. open to all) and more targeted sessions (i.e. for specific members of the community). Sessions will need to cover a wide range of activities and ability levels.

Context and purpose of role

The Out There Award (OTA) increases the skills, confidence and social connections of young adults (18-26 years) from diverse backgrounds to enjoy the outdoors responsibly. As a member of the Programmes team, the Programme Lead (Out There Award) will be responsible for the successful development and delivery of the programme across GB.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on the design, development and operational delivery of the Out There Award programme across GB.
• Create operational delivery plans – to identify milestones, monitor risks, resolve issues and manage resource requirements.
• Design and develop resources and processes to support programme implementation.
• Be responsible for managing a budget in line with programme goals and objectives.
• Be responsible for evaluation and reporting, to ensure the programme meets KPIs and delivers measurable impact.
• Manage new and existing strategic partnerships with outdoor organisations and those working with young people facing barriers to becoming active outdoors.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Fundraising and Communications Executive is a new role and will play a pivotal part in advancing our communications and fundraising strategies. JOB PURPOSE

The Fundraising and Communications Executive will play a key role in implementing OTR’s fundraising and communications strategies. The role involves planning, creating, curating and managing high-quality digital content across our website, social media platforms and email marketing campaigns. Furthermore, you will support key areas of our fundraising strategy, including trust and grant applications, horizon scanning and ensuring excellent fundraising administration across all areas of activity.

This position is instrumental in supporting the Head of Fundraising in developing and strengthening OTR’s income streams and increasing awareness of OTR’s services through effective communications. 

Specific role duties

Supporting the fundraising strategy

• Lead on OTR’s donor and community fundraiser stewardship through excellent communication and effective relationship management.

Email marketing

The Role

Are you a people person with a passion for making a difference to people while saving food from going to waste? This role involves developing and implementing fundraising strategies to generate financial support, build relationships with potential donors, organise fundraising events and maintain donor relationships to secure and retain funding for the Lingfield Foundation.

You will be the first point of contact for a wide range of enquirers and supporters, assisting with the implementation of a regular giving strategy and supporting donor communications and retention.  Day to day task will include ensuring accurate records on the Development database, supporting the work of Alumni with a range of events and promoting the work of the Development Office with the use of social media.

The Croydon Refugee Day Centre (CRDC) is a small, primarily volunteer-led organisation, with a 4-person staff team and 70 dedicated volunteers.

Our mission is to work together with asylum seekers, refugees and other stakeholders to create a welcoming, responsive & sustainable community at Croydon Refugee Day Centre, where people seeking sanctuary are respected as equals, can regain some control of their lives and build towards a future in the UK.Bottom of Form  Last year, we supported over 1600 people.

Over the past few years, the number of asylum seekers and refugees in Croydon has increased dramatically, and CRDC is increasing its services and staffing to meet the new level of need.

 Purpose: To provide high quality administrative support to the Croydon Refugee Day Centre.

Job Description

As Administrator for the Croydon Refugee Day Centre, you will be a crucial part of our small staff team, working across, maintaining and developing all our administrative systems. Your core responsibilities will be as follows:

• To manage the central administrative systems, processes and procedures of CRDC across different platforms, including Google Drive and Microsoft Teams, plus subscriptions to other services (e.g. web hosting)
• To manage our CRM Access Database of community members, including weekly data entry and management of accompanying paper records; plus annual updates and assisting with extraction of statistics for grant reports and trustee meetings.
• To manage administrative tasks and improve and develop administrative systems associated with our 70-strong volunteer team, including initial recruitment and onboarding of volunteers, DBS checks and references, weekly rotas etc.
• To develop and manage a database of (potential) in kind and financial donors and/or newsletter subscribers and to communicate externally with community donors, including writing thank you letters.
• To ensure that record keeping across the organisation is performed in line with our GDPR and confidentiality responsibilities.
• To support the Coordinators and Manager in managing Hardship Funds, including regular purchasing of necessary hardship supplies, such as toiletries, underwear etc.
• To manage purchasing of office and other supplies and equipment as necessary.
• To manage day-to-day administrative tasks, including but not limited to: monitoring and replying to external email queries; preparation of documents and letters for other staff members; weekly updates of website and facebook page.
• To assist Manager wih financial systems and bookkeeping, including working with Xero.
• To assist Manager with preparation of documents for trustee meetings, prepare draft minutes and act as Secretary at meetings.
• To oversee and train volunteers involved in administrative tasks.

What does United for Global Mental Health do?

At United for Global Mental Health, we work with trusted partners to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and increase support for mental health worldwide.

The United for Global Mental Health team is made up of diverse, passionate and knowledgeable individuals based in the UK and in countries around the world. By combining our extensive in-house expertise in advocacy, financing and campaigning with the unique insights of our many partners, we’re making progress on ensuring that everyone, everywhere has someone to turn to in support of their mental health. What will I be doing? 

This role will support the delivery of several activities within our portfolio of activities on climate change, the environment, and mental health. The four main areas of work that the Senior Officer will be responsible for include:

• Leading work with national partners (50% of post)

• Integration of people with lived experience (hereafter referred to as PWLE) across the portfolio (25% of post)

• Developing our advocacy on the intersection of air pollution and mental health (15% of post)

• Developing our advocacy on the intersection of biodiversity loss and mental health (10% of post)

National level work (50% of post)

A key component of the current project will be to support national partners in a subset of countries globally (approximately 6 countries) to advocate for action on climate change and mental health. The final set of countries is yet to be defined but will likely include one country per WHO region and one country from the Small Islands Developing States. The specific responsibilities of this component will include:

• Lead in the selection of national partners in each country. This will include supporting the running of a competitive process to select one civil-society organisation based in each country to conduct the work

• Strengthen the capacity of national partners to work on climate change and mental health (e.g., via training to national partners to be delivered by the Senior Officer), if required

• Support national partners in advocating for the integration of mental health into climate policies, including but not limited to Nationally Determined Contributions, National Adaptation Plans, Heat Health Action Plans etc.

• Lead in cohort-building activities for this subset of countries (e.g., organising regular meetings, ensuring shared learnings etc.)

• With the support of our Operations team, support in the logistics of sub-contracting national partners and monitoring deliverables

Involvement of people with lived experience (25% of post)

The meaningful engagement of PWLE of mental health challenges is central to all work at United for Global Mental Health. The specific responsibilities of this component will include:

• Leading on setting up and coordinating a Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG), which will meet every two months to provide guidance to UnitedGMH and national partners on their work on climate and health. The Senior Officer will be responsible for recruiting approximately 12 PWLE (2 x WHO region), organising regular meetings, and ensuring that the feedback of PWLE is integrated across different projects

• Support the attendance of PWLE to key global advocacy moments in a meaningful, safe, and impactful way

• Support national partners on the integration of lived experience considerations in their work on climate change and mental health 

Work on air pollution and mental health (15% of post)

The evidence on air pollution and mental health is a nascent, but rapidly growing, area of interest. The specific responsibilities of this component will include:

• Scope what concrete opportunities exist for integrating mental health considerations into air pollution policies at the global, regional, and national levels 

• Build connections with organisations working on air pollution and clean air policies

• Refine our messaging on air pollution and mental health

• Lead on the production of one advocacy brief on air pollution and mental health

Work on biodiversity loss and mental health (10% of post)

There is emerging evidence on the association between biodiversity loss and mental health, but very little work has yet been done in the policy space. The specific responsibilities of this component will include:

• Scoping what concrete opportunities exist for integrating mental health considerations into biodiversity policies at the global, regional, and national levels 

• Build connections with organisations working on biodiversity, conservation, and nature

• Refine our messaging on biodiversity and mental health

• Lead the production of one advocacy brief on pesticide use and suicide

• Lead on our engagement with the Convention on Biological Diversity Conference of the Parties (biodiversity COP)

Is this job for me?

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience working on global mental health policy, advocacy, research, or practice

• Expertise in managing and engaging with multiple different types of stakeholders (e.g., civil society, UN agencies, governments etc.) 

• Experience working on co-creation, patient and public involvement (PPI), or working with people with lived experience of mental health problems

• Excellent project management skills and strong planning skills including attention to detail, critical thinking, multi-tasking and problem-solving

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team

• Expertise in the development of funding proposals and ability to track and report on grant deliverables

• Expertise in organising meetings, events, and small gatherings of partners and other stakeholders

• Ability to travel 2-3 times a year internationally

Desirable

• Expertise in climate change and mental health is desirable but not required

• Experience of working in low- and middle-income countries on mental health is desirable but not required

• Experience of working on influencing policy within a government is desirable but not required

• Fluency in English is essential, the ability to work in a second UN language would be an advantage (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian)

The Deputy Service Manager supports the Service Manager in effectively managing all operational matters within their designated services, including line management of frontline staff.

The Deputy Service Manager shares responsibility for ensuring that a holistic and cohesive approach to customer support is embedded across accommodation services. Look Ahead operates trauma-informed and psychologically informed approaches, ensuring customers benefit from strengths-based support practices. The role requires an individual who embodies psychologically informed practice through their leadership style.

Oaklands & St Kilda consists of two supported accommodation services, each providing six mental health rehabilitation units for young people aged 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health-related hospital admission. The aim is to support young people to gain and develop the necessary skills for independent living and to manage transitions from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult Mental Health Services.

Together, these services support up to 12 young people at any one time, offering a welcoming, supportive environment on a spot-purchase basis.

The successful candidate will deputise for the Service Manager when required. This includes direct line management, leadership, coaching, and supporting Specialist Support Workers, Support Workers, and Waking Night Support Workers. Responsibilities also involve ensuring compliance with current legislation, contractual requirements, financial regulations, and Look Ahead's Policies and Procedures.

The role of Deputy Manager will involve five 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday.
