IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls living in the UK, who have experienced, or are at risk of all forms of “honour” based abuse, including; forced marriage, child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), or domestic abuse.

We work with women and girls of all ages, including lesbian women, bisexual women and trans women. We offer services in Kurdish, Farsi, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Turkish and English. IKWRO offers free advice, advocacy and counselling services and operates a refuge which provides safe accommodation and specialist support to single women at risk of “honour” based abuse, forced marriage and domestic abuse.

IKWRO also provides training for women and girls to help them understand their rights in the UK. In partnership with other organisations, we assist survivors of abuse with accessing English language classes and education, training and employment opportunities.

As well as supporting women and girls directly, we offer advice and training for professionals from the statutory and voluntary sectors, to better understand the needs of the women and girls we represent, the types of abuse they experience and to provide best practice prevention and support services.

We campaign to increase awareness and improve laws and policies to tackle all forms of “honour” based abuse and harmful practices including; forced marriage, child marriage, marital captivity, female genital mutilation, virginity testing and hymenoplasty, discrimination by sharia courts and to push for better laws and policies to protect women’s and girl’s rights.

Job Summary

The post-holder will help Farsi speaking women who have experienced Forced Marriage, Female Genital Mutilation and “Honour” Based Violence. Working in a confidential setting, counsellors listen attentively to their clients and offer them the time, empathy and respect they need to express their own feelings, to help them overcome their problems and to make appropriate changes to their life. 

The post holder must be BACP or UKCP accredited (or equivalent e.g. HCPC) or training to achieve these accreditation

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Establishing a relationship of trust and respect with clients; 
• To undertake high quality direct (assessment and therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, advisory and evaluative) specialist psychological interventions; making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice. 
• Develops treatment and guidance methods and give guidance using a variety of therapy and counselling techniques;
• To formulate and implement plans of specialist psychological treatment or management of clients’ mental health problems based on an appropriate multi-factorial understanding of the client’s problems and current evidence-based best practice, taking into account the current NICE guidelines.

Who we are

The problem - On average, 160 young people are excluded from school each week. Once excluded, prospects for these young people are bleak, with only 4% achieving good GCSE grades, and 67% entering sustained education, employment or training compared to 96% of their non-excluded peers. This can be a pipeline to prison, with concerning statistics showing 63% of prisoners having been excluded from school.

Our mission - To ensure that young people who have been excluded from school are not excluded from society.

Who we serve - We support the hardest to reach young people in the most disadvantaged communities, each of whom are most at risk of experiencing school exclusion or are at risk of being excluded. Young people who are eligible for free school meals are 4x more likely to get excluded, along with black Caribbean boys. Young people with special educational needs are also six times as likely to be excluded as their peers.

Our work - We work in a number of different settings both during term time and after school. Our coaches lead small groups of 8-10 young people, using sport as a hook and mentorship as an anchor to develop their soft skills, as well as improve their physical & mental wellbeing. This, coupled with exposure to the work place through Career Taster Days, raises their aspirations and puts young people in a better position to enter sustained education, employment or training (EET) when they leave school.

Role Overview

Salary – £23,500 to £25,000 (pro rata if part time)

We are looking for people to join our team across England and Wales in Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Cardiff, Luton, Milton Keynes, London.

We are recruiting Youth Workers across our delivery locations in England and Wales to join our squad in August for the new academic year. This is a frontline role where you will spend the majority of your time working with young people, building relationships with them and delivering our full programme of activities which includes rugby based activity sessions, employability workshops, career taster days and more.

You will be working with some of the hardest to reach young people who are most at risk of exclusion, in small groups of 8-10. We use rugby as a hook and mentorship as an anchor, using our four cornerstones (developing life skills, raising aspirations, improving physical wellbeing, focus on mental wellbeing) to develop young people throughout their time with us. We enable young people to be in a better position to enter sustained education, employment or training (EET) when they leave school. 

The delivery team always work in pairs, running our interventions across a variety of settings (including mainstream schools, Pupil Referral Units, Alternative Provisions, SEN schools, Youth Offenders Institutes, community centres and rugby clubs) working in the school timetable and between 3-7pm. While delivering our interventions is a big part of the job, you will also be responsible for supporting the team to ensure the successful collection of data, managing school relationships and delivering on partnership projects.

You do not need to be a rugby fanatic for this role, but you do need to be passionate about social mobility of the excluded. We are looking for someone with a youth work, teaching, mentoring or sports coaching background to help strengthen our team as we work towards our forward strategy.

About the Role

Chance UK has been delivering early-intervention services across London since 1995. Our longest running programme is our mentoring service where Mentors pick the child up from home and run a 1:1 session in the community, once a week for 2 hours. They use the solution-focused approach to work on building the child’s self-esteem and confidence, set goals and explore new places.

In addition, we are growing a range of community based groups running after school as well as some workshops delivered in schools which will support children with developing social and emotional skills and resilience through activities or skills development.

The balance between 1:1 work and group delivery will change according to services commissioned so the post holder will need to be flexible accordingly.

Mind in Croydon is a charity concerned with the welfare of people with mental health problems living in the London Borough of Croydon and the surrounding areas. This exciting role will manage the provision of a non-clinical Recovery Space (crisis café) funded by South London Partnership Commissioning. This project operates in the day and evenings, people are referred by our Trusted Assessors in various Teams such as Croydon University Hospital, Psychiatric Liaison, Assessment and Liaison, Croydon College, Home Treatment Team and others.

The aim of the service is to divert people, who would be better supported elsewhere, away from Accident and Emergency (A&E) and towards services that can support with their immediate crisis within the Borough of Croydon. The Recovery Space Service Manager leads this service which is non-clinical but a warm and welcoming setting to support and hold individuals during the day and evening. The Recovery Space service referrals will not be accepted after 10pm for attendance at night.

The role will work closely at senior operational level with external partners, clinical, commissioning, and voluntary sector organisations to plan, develop and promote the highest quality service. They will manage a team of nine staff, three are Crisis Workers, operating a day service, one outreach crisis worker also operating during the day and five Recovery Space Workers in the evening.  The role will need to produce reports, develop, and implement policies and procedures in line with best practice and to ensure the service is making a difference to people’s lives.  The role will work with other service managers including those managers within the Transformation services to ensure a One Team approach to provide an effective and efficient service for clients.

The team works with unpaid Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers, completing statutory and holistic assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need. The Role: 

The role is within our IPS Service and will be based within a Camden NHS secondary care team. The postholder will be directly employed by Hillside Clubhouse but work under an Honorary Contract from Camden and Islington Foundation Trust.  They will be managed directly by the IPS Operations Manager but work as team member within the clinical team. The role is dynamic and involves being integrated in a clinical team, working within the community, and we operate a flexible working policy where working from home is also permitted up to two days per week.

Overall aim: 

To enable people with mental health issues to gain and sustain competitive employment by working within the evidence based Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model.

Primary Duties: 

• Manage a caseload of up to twenty clients and work within and apply the 8 principles of IPS in all aspects of role. 
• To work with and enable clients to find work using a mix of conventional approaches and employer engagement. 
• To generate ongoing referrals from the clinical team and to manage those effectively. 
• To engage directly and collaboratively with the clinical team while maintaining the existing multi-disciplinary approach to assisting clients seeking work. 
• To report and meet regularly with clinical team service managers and the IPS Operations manager, and to participate in both casework and clinical supervision from IPS Operations and clinical team services managers. 
• To be an active member of both the clinical and Hillside teams 
• To be responsible for own management of administrative duties tied to both Hillside Clubhouse and clinical team and adhering to existing Hillside and NHS protocols. 
• Source job opportunities specific to client needs from a range of sources including those advertised via current and conventional means, as well as through contact with local and Pan London employers. 
• To build up a network of employers to secure available and future vacancies.

London Victim and Witness Service is recruiting for 2 x DRIVE Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA). These roles are full-time working one-day per week in the office and the other days from home, with regular travel required to visit clients and attend meetings.

The Drive model is based on an intensive case management approach and explicitly targets high risk perpetrators of domestic abuse associated with victims who have been referred to the MARAC. About the role:

This role will be part of our IDVA team in the London Victim and Witness Service. As a DRIVE Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will:

• Address the safety of victims at high risk of harm
• Serve as a victim's primary point of contact by working with their clients from the point of crisis to assess the level of risk, discuss the range of suitable options and develop safety plans.
• Be pro-active in implementing the plans, including actions from MARAC, which address immediate safety and enable victims to protect themselves and their children, as well as longer term solutions, using sanctions and services via criminal and civil courts, housing options and other organisations.

You will need:

• Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).
• Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
• Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
• Understand safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
• Direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.
• Have excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.

Caseworker

Forces Employment Charity is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Caseworker to join our team working on the CFO (Co-financing Organisation) programme in partnership with the probation service. In this role, you will provide specialist support to veterans within the criminal justice system, focused on early intervention, support and diversion to prevent re-offending. You will work closely with probation staff, partner organisations and lead providers to identify, engage and deliver emotional and practical support to veteran clients.

This is a Full-time 35 hours per week, home based role with regular attendance at Lewisham and Croydon Activity Hubs and frequent travel throughout the UK. This role has a salary £29,000 pa.

This will be a fixed term contract till 31 July 2024.

For the CFO programme, Forces Employment Charity is working in partnership with probation service staff and other partner organisations to provide specialist support for veterans in the justice system.This support is focused on early intervention, support and diversion at point of contact with justice system in order to prevent re-offending.

The successful applicant will be providing activities and support to clients within a formal contractual framework working to challenging targets.The role holder will need a strong beneficiary focus and the ability to rapidly form relationships with partners and local agencies.

• Work with partners to identify and engage veterans with the CFO Programme.
• Undertake needs assessments with each veteran and jointly develop their support plan.

Night Reconnection Assistant - Rough Sleeping Prevention Service

London, Islington, Lambeth and Kensington and Chelsea 

£31,703 - £35,578 pa

Are you looking to start your career supporting vulnerable adults; working for a charity who makes a real difference to the lives of people who are homeless every day?

Our client's exciting pilot is a new approach to preventing rough sleeping, through the provision of accommodation with onsite specialist move-on support to those who are at immediate risk of sleeping rough. The service will provide a route and support for single homeless clients who are presenting to the Local Authority Housing Options or day centres and at imminent risk of rough sleeping, but not yet rough sleeping.

Where their homelessness cannot be prevented by the council and they are at imminent risk of sleeping rough, a referral can be made into the Rough Sleeping Prevention service.

The service will be based across three London locations in Islington, Lambeth and Kensington and Chelsea and staff will be expected to work across all 3 services . 

• 7 day rolling rota including early, mid and late shifts
• (K&C): medium – high support accommodation.
•  (Lambeth): medium support accommodation.
•  (Islington): Assessment hub space for up to 15 clients. Site will operate 24/7.

Each site will have staff delivering casework and support, providing each person with a comprehensive assessment of their needs and circumstances, and intensive specialist support to secure move on.

In these roles you will: 

• Work as part of a busy team environment working closely with those affected by rough sleeping. 

• Provide a safe and supportive environment at night to clients; and support a team of Assessment and Reconnection Workers, with key tasks; such as implementing reconnection or assessment plans and supporting clients into appropriate accommodation.  

About you

• These crucial roles will suit people with an interest in in developing key skills to build a career working in a support role, as well as:

• Some experience of dealing directly with the public and / or customers in a busy service environment. 

• Good communication skills and the ability to work with others effectively to get things done.

• Some understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerably housed people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services.
