The vacancy

As a Community Safety Specialist, you will manage a full range of community safety casework, ensuring Peabody’s Community Safety Service is delivered within agreed timeframes, collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure compliance with all necessary protocols, keeping accurate records and maintaining risk assessments.

1 day is required in the office and the rest is spent between working from home and visiting estates/areas you work in. You will cover a patch spanning Aylesbury, High Wycombe, Milton Keynes and Cambridge.

Here at Peabody, we have an opportunity for a Community Safety Specialist on a Permanent and full-time basis. 

A bit about the role:

Manage a caseload of medium and high risk anti-social behaviour cases, developing and maintaining expert knowledge of ASB prevention and collaborating with key external partners through creating effective relationships, (including Police and Local Authorities) to resolve local community safety issues.

Engage with Peabody’s internal and external legal teams on complex cases, preparing documentation and where needed representing Peabody at Court and external meetings.

You will provide our Neighbourhood Managers with advice, support and all necessary tools and tactics to remedy cases with a key focus on prevention, intervention, and enforcement when necessary.

Collaborate with colleagues in Customer Services and Communities team to identify support needs, accessing relevant agencies for both victims and perpetrators of anti-social behaviour, completing referrals to mediation and other support services as appropriate.​

This role will require a Basic DBS check, a full UK driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.

The Homeless Intervention Project Worker will contribute to the delivery of the emergency service provision within our Support Centre. This supports people experiencing homelessness and compound disadvantage as a result of substance misuse, immigration status, offending history or mental health The role will include working alongside our other services which support people to sustain accommodation and prevent homelessness. The service offers immediate practical and emotional support in a welcoming environment, with assessment, signposting and referrals to relevant support services.

You will have direct experience of supporting vulnerable people and an excellent understanding of the barriers to accessing support and accommodation that people with multiple disadvantages may face.

The Role of a Move-on coordinator / Resettlement worker is to work closing with housing officer to provide housing related support to customers ready to move - on. Liaising with Housing solution Team in RBKC Borough Council to establish housing assessment and applications to achieve the objective. RBKC CNS core move-on pathway is through PRS, MOP and other suitable options to be consider while supporting customers move-on options. The move-on coordinator will work with customers in a floating setting when required to ensure there are settled when they move.

The working hours for this role will be 09:00 - 17.00, Monday - Friday.

What you'll do:

Undertake key-working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the Housing officer / service Manager.
Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks and agree levels of support and actions that prepare customers to move- on.
Create support/action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available to achieve a move-on target.
Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation where they moved.
Support customers to set up Rent payment, HB application, liaise with landlords, viewing of properties and support to sustain their tenancy when they move.
Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local community to support move - on pathway.
Empower customers to ensure they receive the service and benefits they are entitled to
Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive tenant/customer records to professional standards.
Encourage and enable tenants to pay their rent and to ensure that rent accounts are managed effectively in conjunction with the Housing Officer
Support customers to apply for charity support on white goods and other assistance to move into their property and have the furniture's and items needed to live independently.
Ensure that referrals are chased proactively so that properties which can be used to house those in need are filled as efficiently as possible

The H&F Navigators provide intensive floating support to clients experiencing entrenched homelessness, clients at risk of homelessness as well as providing resettlement support to clients moving into their own accommodation.

• Work alongside the Service Manager to ensure the service delivers as per the service contract, and ensure the service is meeting the needs of the commissioning team.
• Carry a small caseload of clients, supporting them to identify and achieve support needs/goals.

About you

The successful Deputy Manager will be able to demonstrate skills in being both supportive and assertive. The ideal candidate will have experience of working to support clients to resolve their homelessness, and have a good knowledge of housing legislation as well as the range of support/statutory services available to support a client in their journey of recovery. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of providing client-centred and trauma-informed support, and of managing incidents involving challenging and risky behaviour.

As Complex Needs Practitioner you will engage young people in a variety of interventions, using a person-centred approach, empowering them to reduce risk, increase resilience and achieve positive outcomes.

Birmingham Young People’s Service provides holistic support services for young people 10 to 25 with needs related to alcohol and substance misuse, including those that are affected by a family members alcohol and substance misuse.

All Complex Needs Practitioners are expected to work days, evenings, and weekends across the community and within our multi-agency partnership settings, when required, which will require a flexible working pattern from the successful candidate. The caseload will include a mixture of community and multi-agency referral pathways including health, social care, education, youth provision, and criminal justice.

As an energetic and confident self-starter, you will have a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or above, Dip SW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies).  Alternatively, we will consider candidates with experience of working in the health & social care field, education settings, alcohol, and substance misuse fields with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care.

Experience of liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals and engaging effectively with clients in a variety of settings is essential. You will also need a flexible approach, excellent record keeping and report writing skills. We also work on an outreach basis, with a central hub base at our head office.

Homeless Support Worker 

£23,775 - £25,027 per annum 

Poole, Dorset 

Permanent, Full Time  

37 hours a week - Working a 7 week rolling rota with a mix of early (7am to 3.30pm), mid (9am-50pm) and late (12pm - 8pm) shifts.  

Our client supports people who are homelessness across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch. This is a new service that starts in June, so this is an exciting opportunity to be part of the set up and implementation of this team.

Their team will be providing intensive, one to one support to enable clients to maintain their accommodation and achieve their goals.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

• You will have your own caseload of clients to support and will work with them on a one to one basis out in the community and in the clients homes. 

• You will identify their needs by listening to them and put together a support plan which is equally achievable and realistic for them 

• You will link in with outreach workers and other agencies to build rapport and trust with clients who are homeless in preparation for them getting their own accommodation 

• You will support clients to attend appointments and act as a link for clients to engage in services with the aim to improve their physical and mental health 

• You will work with people to identify their strengths and talents, and encourage them to focus and build on these, with a view to affecting behavioural and lifestyle changes that are positive and sustainable 

• You will be conscientious in areas such as safeguarding and lone working 

• You will help clients to access the benefits they are entitled to claim 

• You will challenge harmful behaviours and play an active role in encouraging people to come inside from the street, or to play an active part in sustaining their accommodation 

• You will support them to manage and safely manage alcohol and or substance misuse 

• You will encourage their involvement in personal progression in the form of education, training, employment activity or volunteering 

• You will help them improve their practical skills in areas such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework and managing a tenancy 

• You will work with external partners to maximise the opportunities available to clients so that they can resettle in the community. Specifically working closely with the client’s property owners and Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch councils to ensure a successful tenancy 

• Maintain client records using relevant systems to a good standard 

• Work in accordance with the Health and Safety regulations and all policies and procedures 

• You will gain knowledge and understanding of the Housing First principles and how Housing First uses a client-led approach 

• You will be non-judgemental and work towards the clients' goals and not towards societies expectations 

• Attend supervision, appraisal, training and meetings as directed which may be outside your normal working pattern 

• Work flexibly across all areas of operation where required and prior notice given 

• Any other reasonable task as requested by a member of staff 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING 

Previous experience in this type of work is not essential but you will have a real passion for wanting to work with people who are homeless. You will receive support and training in understanding the key principles of Housing First but some prior research and understanding of the support model is desirable Your values will match theirs, you will be committed to helping others and enjoy the real job satisfaction that this brings. 

You will also have: 

• Clear verbal and written English 

• Good IT and keyboard skills 

• Polite, assertive manner, ability to self -motivate 

• Passion for working in a client/customer facing role 

• Knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation 

• Have an interest and genuine concern for homelessness and related issues 

• Knowledge of voluntary and statutory agencies 

• Knowledge of best practice in supporting people with drug/alcohol and/or mental ill health issues, including realistic harm reduction approaches

There are two Parkinson's Local Adviser roles available. Both contracts available are permanent posts, with a minimum of 25 hours per week required. 

About the role

You’ll empower your clients to take actions for themselves or will advocate on their behalf for better service, support and outcomes, so they can live their life with Parkinson's in the way they choose.

You’ll deliver tailored information and support through a range of channels including telephone, video and email and, where appropriate, home visits and in community settings.

You’ll be responsible for building excellent relationships with healthcare professionals and other relevant agencies, as well as our network of volunteers and groups.

What you'll do:

• Provide professional person centred, in depth support to clients by a range of means, ensuring the most efficient and effective use of resources.
• Provide support on a variety of health and social care issues, including appropriate emotional, employment and welfare benefits support and advocating with and on behalf of clients. 
• Work flexibly across the service responding to enquiries through a range of channels.
• Work closely with clinicians, specialist nurses and other professional colleagues to raise the profile of the service, increase depth of support and achieve improved outcomes for people with Parkinson’s.

What you'll bring: 

• Experience of managing and delivering individual case work, including advocating for clients and supporting people to navigate  the health and social care system 
• Experience and understanding of safeguarding and your role in keeping clients safe and  implementing organisational policies and procedure
• Ability to be calm and use emotional intelligence in challenging casework
• Demonstrable digital competence, with experience of effective use of a range of tools including online case management systems
• The ability to build effective working relationships with others including working within multi disciplinary teams internally and externally 

You must live in the Essex or nearby in the East of England in order to carry out this role.
