About Training Link
Training Link is a small charity with nearly 40 years’ experience of supporting people in Somers Town. We offer courses for adults to help people get a job or return to work, often after a long absence. Many of our learners are reluctant to go to a large adult education college where in practice they would receive little individual support in their learning; we offer a supportive, friendly learning environment where people feel comfortable and welcomed. Current classes include ESOL, IT and Maths. We also provide one to one sessions for those needing support around literacy.
Purpose of the role:
- To design and deliver new Green Learning programme for Training Link.
- To develop and run high quality, engaging, fun and interactive community-based environmental awareness classes and activities tailored to adult learners, including learners speaking English as a second language.
- To support residents in Somers Town in their journey to becoming cleaner and greener through community engagement, training and project delivery.
- To help Training Link team to positively engage and communicate with local residents and community leaders/ groups on climate emergency and positive actions.
- To create a welcoming, inclusive and positive learning environment.
- To enable those learners who wish to study further to gain an accredited qualification in Environmental Awareness, including environmental awareness in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- To record and monitor learners’ attendance, progression and achievement.
- To contribute to the evaluation of teaching and learning to inform future planning, ensuring learner involvement in the process.
- To keep up to date with local and wider issues related to the Climate Emergency, from a lay person’s perspective.
- To liaise with the Director and participate in the appraisal process when required.
- To carry out duties with due regard to Training Link’s Equality and Diversity, Information, Governance, Data Protection, Safeguarding, and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- To ensure that each learner provides personal information as required, and complete a learner agreement enrolment form and evaluation form at the end of the course. To keep a register for each session.
- To signpost learners to other courses, services and activities as appropriate
- To complete forms for the National Open College Network and any other external assessment body.
Essential Requirements for the Role
- Knowledge and Qualifications:
- Good understanding of the Climate Crisis and what can be done at a grass roots level to address it.
- An adult teaching or coaching qualification is desirable, or willingness to be working towards one.
- Ability to think creatively and use judgement, experience and initiative to solve problems
- An aptitude for collaboration and cross team working
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to engage and communicate effectively with all sections of the community, in a variety of situations, including the confidence to present to different and represent Training Link at events
- An understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion.
- A can-do attitude
- Ideally a good knowledge of the Somers Town area (not essential but desirable)
Experience
- Experience of teaching adults on a paid or voluntary basis.
- Experience of community engagement with proven positive results

About the role:
The Foundation/Domestic Abuse Prevention Practitioner (FDAP) will play a key role in working directly with individuals using harmful/abusive behaviour within their intimate relationships. The role will include suitability and risk assessments, delivery of interventions, facilitation of group programmes, risk identification, information sharing and preparation of reports for courts and other agencies.
The FDAP Practitioner will be co-located into Priority Crime Teams situated in Newport Police Station to assist with the identification, screening, and engagement of individuals using harmful behaviour in their relationships, working closely with police to provide a timely and streamlined process for earlier identification, referral, and engagement/disruption of high harm perpetrators of domestic abuse.
For this role is it essential you have excellent understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact on victims and their children. Experience of working with individuals experiencing domestic abuse/ and or causing harm. Experience of group work delivery is desirable; however, we will consider applications from candidates who demonstrate an aptitude for the role.
You will need to be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with statutory and voluntary agencies to deliver the best possible outcomes within a multi-agency setting. As well as being tenacious in support of your clients and adept at problem solving.
IT literacy is a must and candidates must evidence both the ability to use bespoke packages and excellence in their recording practice.

The Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) Programme is a one-year postgraduate diploma course which is part of the child mental health workforce development programme. The course started in January 2019 to train graduate entry practitioners to the child and young people mental health workforce. It is a key part of the Green Paper proposals to establish mental health workers in schools and contribute to increasing the workforce set out by the government by 2025.
The Course Tutor will support teaching delivery on the Pg Dip in Educational Mental Health Practitioner programme. Subject to candidate availability and interest, there is also an opportunity for the postholder to support the delivery of other low intensity and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)-based trainings offered within Postgraduate Studies at the Centre.
The ideal candidate will have a recognised qualification in a core mental health profession of Clinical Psychology, Child Psychotherapy, Family Therapy or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and/ or have specific training in CBT. The post-holder will also need to have experience working with children, young people, and families with psychological/emotional difficulties in a mental health service and/ or educational setting.

Who we are
The problem - On average, 160 young people are excluded from school each week. Once excluded, prospects for these young people are bleak, with only 4% achieving good GCSE grades, and 67% entering sustained education, employment or training compared to 96% of their non-excluded peers. This can be a pipeline to prison, with concerning statistics showing 63% of prisoners having been excluded from school.
Our mission - To ensure that young people who have been excluded from school are not excluded from society.
Who we serve - We support the hardest to reach young people in the most disadvantaged communities, each of whom are most at risk of experiencing school exclusion or are at risk of being excluded. Young people who are eligible for free school meals are 4x more likely to get excluded, along with black Caribbean boys. Young people with special educational needs are also six times as likely to be excluded as their peers.
Our work - We work in a number of different settings both during term time and after school. Our coaches lead small groups of 8-10 young people, using sport as a hook and mentorship as an anchor to develop their soft skills, as well as improve their physical & mental wellbeing. This, coupled with exposure to the work place through Career Taster Days, raises their aspirations and puts young people in a better position to enter sustained education, employment or training (EET) when they leave school.

We are looking for people to join our team across England and Wales in Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Cardiff, Luton, Milton Keynes, London.
We are recruiting Youth Workers across our delivery locations in England and Wales to join our squad in August for the new academic year. This is a frontline role where you will spend the majority of your time working with young people, building relationships with them and delivering our full programme of activities which includes rugby based activity sessions, employability workshops, career taster days and more.
You will be working with some of the hardest to reach young people who are most at risk of exclusion, in small groups of 8-10. We use rugby as a hook and mentorship as an anchor, using our four cornerstones (developing life skills, raising aspirations, improving physical wellbeing, focus on mental wellbeing) to develop young people throughout their time with us. We enable young people to be in a better position to enter sustained education, employment or training (EET) when they leave school.
The delivery team always work in pairs, running our interventions across a variety of settings (including mainstream schools, Pupil Referral Units, Alternative Provisions, SEN schools, Youth Offenders Institutes, community centres and rugby clubs) working in the school timetable and between 3-7pm. While delivering our interventions is a big part of the job, you will also be responsible for supporting the team to ensure the successful collection of data, managing school relationships and delivering on partnership projects.
You do not need to be a rugby fanatic for this role, but you do need to be passionate about social mobility of the excluded. We are looking for someone with a youth work, teaching, mentoring or sports coaching background to help strengthen our team as we work towards our forward strategy.

As well as leading the youth work, this postholder will join part of The Pelham’s project leadership team alongside the other four core projects:
· Our volunteer-run Coffee Lounge is open 5 days a week, providing a safe and warm space in the community to over 150 customers each week.
· The Pelham as a Community Hub welcomes over 400 people through our doors each week and hire our spaces out to over 60 different local organisations that use The Pelham as a base for their valuable assistance to help people in need locally. The range of organisations covers the voluntary, statutory and small business community to create a vibrant and dynamic space.
· RunningSpace is our suicide prevention project with a vision to champion life and beat suicide through walk2run groups. We currently run sessions in five locations, across East Sussex and Kent. We also host suicide prevention training too on a regular basis.
· The Pelham Counselling Service offers individual and group work therapy sessions with its team of 9 counsellors. It offers bursaries and a flexible service to best meet the needs of local people.
In joining the team, collaborative working will be at the heart of the development of the youth work, including group therapy sessions for young people, suicide prevention work and volunteering and employability pathways.

Main Purpose of the Role:
The Youth Worker will take the leadership role in the development of Youth work from The Pelham, as part of its charitable work and community service, working under the guidance of the CEO and as part of the Project Leadership team.
The role will include having vision to develop relevant and appealing opportunities in Bexhill for young people, working together with local partners, including schools and voluntary organisations. This will include innovative options outside of our current scope of work, which may include wellbeing activities, studying support, home education, group work therapy and more.

7. To support a volunteer team to support in hosting youth activities, all with the appropriate DBS checks and training.
8. To work alongside the pastoral care team at Bexhill Academy to provide support to students during lunchtime(s) in the school week.
9. To explore and respond to the local need for young people, including helping to mitigate anti-social behaviour in Sidley with increased interaction and trust building. This will include working with local partners including Heart of Sidley, Rother Safety Partnership and Sussex Police.
10. This will also extend into local connections in Sidley, Pebsham, Chantry and Bexhill Town Centre in providing opportunities for children and young people and their families, as well as other youth focused organisations.

“For My Future” is a bespoke 6-week course designed in 2019 specifically for people in the justice system. Focusing on both personal skills and practical ones (CVs, applications, interviews), the course is delivered either in person or online to small, single-sex cohorts over a 6-week period. To succeed in this role, you will have experience of supporting people in group scenarios and be confident presenting both in person and online. About this exciting opportunity
As Mentor/Facilitator, your focus will be to oversee the delivery of a vital Mentor Programme to targeted at risk students and young people up the age of 25 years and to establish and maintain positive relationships with each young person to provide emotional support, guidance and mentorship. You will be expected to address each individual’s needs and challenges, utilising personal experiences, local knowledge, professional skills and St Giles’ materials to offer support and intervention, while also assisting each young person with setting and achieving academic, personal, and career goals.
We will count on you to collaborate with professionals to support and develop strategies to minimise the risk to young people and to maintain a trauma informed approach, that recognises and responds to trauma and amplifies the voices and experiences of individuals. Developing positive, pro-social attitudes, behaviour and social skills among those you mentor and supporting and/or co-delivering whole school awareness and professional sessions are also key aspects of the role.

Established in 2013, the United Kingdom and Europe World Literacy Foundation have been dedicated to building strong communities through literacy and education. In 2018, UK Reads was introduced to provide literacy support through distributing books and resources nationwide while delivering author-led workshops to children to inspire the next generation of readers who lacked resources and opportunities to develop and excel. Additionally, UK Reads works to facilitate a global pen pal project, inspiring young writers and offering them a platform to connect, fostering cultural awareness and enhancing writing skills.
About the Project
UK Reads: Literacy Impact East London specifically focus on children and young people aged 11-18 years. The project is designed to reach young people from diverse, low-income backgrounds and ethnic minorities. We have observed that approximately 85% of our beneficiaries come from low-income families, 10% of our users are students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), reflecting the diverse range of learners we aim to support. Additionally, 45% of our beneficiaries come from Black minority communities, highlighting the importance of promoting inclusivity and addressing potential disparities in literacy outcomes.
We acknowledge that low literacy rates often vary through boroughs and are committed to reaching the most underserved, underrepresented, and marginalised young people across East London. We collaborate with schools and community organisations to implement a tailored intervention that addresses the specific needs of each group, offering a diverse range of services to expedite the development of foundational literacy skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging literacy workshops in schools, fostering a safe and collaborative learning environment.
- Lead workshops, ensuring participants actively engage in literacy activities and get the most out of the experience.
- Tailor workshops to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Encourage and motivate participants to enhance their literacy skills and confidence.
- Support the delivery lead in setting up activities and managing logistics for smooth workshop operations.
- Implement workshop activities safely and professionally.

- Attend monthly virtual check-ins with the delivery lead.
