Intensive Engagement Hub Worker
About The Connection at St Martin’s
We believe that no one should have to sleep rough on London’s streets, and that everyone should get the support they need to find a place to call home. We get to know every person we work with, understanding what they need to recover, helping them build on their strengths, and supporting them to find their own way home. Help us make London a city where no one sleeps rough on our streets.
London’s diversity is its biggest asset and we strive to ensure our workforce reflects London’s diversity at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability.
We particularly encourage applications from candidates with lived experience of homelessness who we believe are an essential asset in our sector.
We are committed to being an inclusive employer and welcome the opportunity to consider flexible working arrangements.
About the Role
The Intensive Engagement Hub is an innovative new pilot service, run in partnership with Westminster City Council. You will have the chance to be part of this exciting new approach to engage people experiencing rough sleeping who are furthest from help.
As part of a small team, you will work intensively with people rough sleeping in Westminster whose physical and mental health, and engagement with services is creating a persistent barrier to their ability to move into stable accommodation.
The pilot will provide;
· A schedule of ‘Hubs’ that are held across the year for fixed periods of time (approximately 4 hubs per year, that are 8 weeks per activation). These are communal style accommodation for each cohort of people and will be an opportunity for clients to engage with an intensive support offer, focussing on stability, health and wellbeing, and the facilitation of access to longer term accommodation support. The service will also be responsive to wider needs, and might be based from other ‘hub’ sites, where other accommodation becomes available
· Wrap around casework for a cohort of people per activation, that will mainly be delivered to people using the communal style hub, but might also be offered to other locations, when accommodation becomes available to us – for example extra winter pressures beds (developing due to it being a pilot). This casework offer will support the person to move into longer term accommodation, alongside building a professionals’ network around them to support stabilisation with individual’s wider needs. This caseload will be shared across the team
We expect the post holder to support the Engagement Hub across the winter period by adding extra support through any extra seasonal service offers, as well as any potential SWEP activations, this role will be based at CSTM and at other local sites. While this role is initially 6 months there is the potential for an extension
