Join Us as a Finance Manager

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity and sustainability of ESC. This part-time position (10 hours per week) is essential to maintaining strong financial records, reviewing budgets, and supporting compliance across the club’s operations. As a charity, our financial health is vital to delivering exceptional training, competitions, and community-based initiatives. Your expertise will help us grow and continue to provide high-quality opportunities for swimmers across all levels. Working closely with the Senior Management Team and Trustee Board, you will help with financial operations and contribute to the long-term success of the club.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Management: Maintain the integrity of financial records for the charity and its members.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts as required.
• Account Management: Prepare quarterly management accounts and year-end accounts, including pre-payments, accruals, and journal entries.
• Financial Reconciliation: Reconcile all balance sheet accounts on the management accounts.
• Audit Preparation: Liaise with external auditors to prepare year-end statutory accounts.
• Treasury Management: Manage surplus funds efficiently.
• Payroll & HMRC Compliance: Prepare and manage monthly payroll and pension payments, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
• Policy Review: Conduct an annual review of ESC’s finance policies and procedures.
• Governance & Reporting: Attend trustee meetings and monthly operations board meetings as required.
• Sage Management: Ensure integrity of Sage accounting software.
• Charity Compliance: Submit annual returns to the Charity Commission and Companies House.
• Project Support: Lead ad hoc financial projects as needed.
• Event Support: Volunteer at ESC events, supporting fundraising and engagement activities.

What We’re Looking For:

• 5 years of experience in management accounting.
• ACA/ACCA qualification (or equivalent) preferable.
• Experience in charity finance preferred.
• Proficiency in Sage, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong numeracy and accuracy skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively.
• Flexible and adaptable approach to tasks.

We’re looking for an experienced Evaluation Manager to join our team of researchers and analysts to deliver and develop our evaluation projects, to help build an evidence-base for engineering and technology outreach activities and shape how we use this evidence to inform our own and others’ practice.

This role offers the opportunity to apply your expertise in designing, implementing and reporting on process and impact programme evaluations – most of which focus on young people - utilising quantitative and qualitative methodologies, conducting evidence reviews, and working collaboratively with key stakeholders. You’ll work with colleagues to embed learnings and develop advice and guidance to support the engineering outreach activity more widely.

About the role

At EngineeringUK we use evidence to make a real difference. Through research insight and robust evaluation, we work to improve the impact of our own work, as well as that of other organisations in our sector. Our aim is to make a positive difference to young people’s lives and securing the diverse engineering and technology workforce the UK needs to thrive. The research and evaluation team consists of 6 researchers and analysts who work to provide these insights.

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver and develop our evaluation projects, to help build an evidence-base for engineering and technology outreach activities and to shape how we use this evidence to inform our own and others’ practice.

With support from the Head of Evaluation and Impact, you will be the operational lead on our evaluations, with responsibility for:

• critically assessing the evidence required to ascertain impact of engineering and technology outreach activities across a complex landscape, with an emphasis on groups historically underrepresented in the engineering and technology professions
• designing and managing the evaluation of our educational programmes, including the practicalities and logistics of collecting/analysing these data, and reporting findings to internal and external stakeholders
• working with colleagues to embed learning from evaluation findings into our future activities and the wider evidence base on the impact of engineering outreach activity
• developing advice and guidance on evaluation and impact measurement to support the engineering outreach community to evaluate their activity more robustly.
   

This job would ideally suit an experienced monitoring and evaluation professional interested in evaluating education programmes with a focus on increasing opportunities for young people from underrepresented groups.
 

We believe that hybrid working has many benefits and are pleased to offer flexible working with a minimum of 2 days (or 40%) a week in the office and the option for a flexible start and end to the working day in our vibrant central London office overlooking the Thames and may involve some travel in the UK for evaluation fieldwork. Essential Skills / Competencies

• Knowledge of and experience in using evaluation techniques/practices, ideally with familiarity of education outreach programmes
• Ability to design and use quantitative and qualitative data collection tools and analyse these data using widely used analysis software (for example, SPSS, STATA, R, CAQDAS)
• Experience in undertaking literature searches and reviews, identifying relevant evidence, appraising its quality, and summarising the body of existing work
• Excellent time and project management skills, with experience working on multiple projects at once, adapting to changing priorities, and meeting hard deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to lead evaluation projects independently, from conception to dissemination
• Proactive in identifying evaluation opportunities and driving projects forward

We are looking for a strategic, impact-driven Community Programmes Manager – to lead the continued growth and development of our Community Engagement Programme and our Garden Programme in alignment with our recently launched 2030 strategy.

You will play a key part in developing and delivering our community fundraising strategy, making sure that anyone and everyone who wants to fundraise for people with arthritis has a great experience doing it. You will build strong relationships with supporters, be that as part of a golf club charity of the year partnership, workplace fundraising or supporting someone with a personal connection to arthritis to raise money in their local area. Developing, delivering and ultimately growing our Facebook challenges offer will be a huge focus – we have some great learnings and are now looking to take them to the next level. There will be plenty of opportunity to test and learn as part of this, and you will get the chance to learn and develop in the role too.

You will work collaboratively with teams across the organisation, from marketing to product development to events, to make sure our products meet the needs of our supporters and that their journey through the organisation is seamless. You will join an ambitious, creative and passionate fundraising team who put people with arthritis and our supporters at the heart of our work.

About you

If your knowledge, skills and experience include the following then we’d love to hear from you:

• Proven successful track record of planning and delivering community fundraising products (or similar) to achieve a good return on investment.
• Experience of delivering excellent supporter or customer stewardship through multi-channels and building relationships with a wide variety of supporters on the phone, in writing and face to face driving engagement, increasing income, and increasing supporter retention.  
• Experience to successfully and independently manage projects, delivering to pre-set deadlines, managing high workloads and ability to understand how and when to prioritise work.

Job Title: Service Manager

Location: Luton, floating support service based within the office and around different locations as required

About the role

This is an exciting new role to lead a brand new contract which supports the referral process from the Housing Solutions teams! The service focuses on providing floating and wraparound support to single applicants who are at risk of homelessness and are able to live independently, by providing a housing support plan towards resolving housing needs and support them into long-term, stable housing.

As a Service Manager, you will oversee pilot operations, providing supervision and support to the team, case workers, and other external stakeholders. You will handle referrals to/from councils, allocate referrals to the team, and engage with council's data analysis and reporting to ensure continuous improvement and accountability. You will escalate any complex high risk or high needs cases to the council for reverse referrals and undertake regular monitoring and tracking of Housing Support Officers and Landlord Liaison performance to endure that KPIs and outcomes are being delivered.

About the role:
