You’ll work closely with the Head of Sustainable Farming and the Technical Team to plan, deliver, and monitor a wide range of projects and programmes, ensuring milestones, budgets, and resources are effectively managed. The role also involves supporting events and initiatives that promote Integrated Farm Management (IFM) across the sector.

Some UK travel will be required; a full UK driving licence is essential.

About the ESU

The English-Speaking Union delivers high-quality oracy education programmes and projects across England and Wales. We believe every child should be able to make their voice heard and that oracy – speaking and listening – skills play a key part in this. Our debating, public speaking, and cultural exchange programmes aim to embed sustainable cultures of oracy in schools, and empower young people to engage with the world, to speak more confidently, and to listen to and understand different points of view. 

Role Overview

ESU Competition Leads host our ESU competitions, including the ESU Schools’ Mace Debating Competition, the ESU Public Speaking Competition and the ESU Performing Shakespeare Competition. The ESU Competition Lead is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of events (heats) throughout the competitions, with duties including Zoom hosting and MCing. If required, Competition Leads may sit on the judges’ panel and provide constructive feedback to students and teachers participating. You will also support and provide guidance for our volunteer judges, ensuring they have a positive experience while volunteering with the ESU. NB The ESU is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Therefore, we expect all contractors to share this commitment. All contractor appointments are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) Disclosure. 

Responsibilities

 For all competitions you will:

• Support and promote the charitable objectives of the ESU, acting as an ambassador for the organisation
• Assist the ESU Competitions Team in ensuring competition heats run smoothly and act as point of contact for schools and volunteers on the day of heats
• MC or compere Zoom and in-person heats, engaging both students and audience whilst following ESU scripts
• Be the technical host for Zoom ESU competition heats, setting up and hosting Zoom meetings, creating break-out rooms and acting as tech support throughout heats
•  
• Provide accurate heat results in a timely manner to the ESU Competitions Team
• Support volunteer judges and ensure they have a positive and rewarding experience
• If required, be part of judging panels at ESU competition heats (which may include acting as chair judge) offering fair, positive, constructive and unbiased feedback based on our judging criteria
• Follow the ESU’s safeguarding policies and provide oversight of safeguarding and equity requirements, in line with ESU policies
• Signpost teachers and volunteers to resources, other ESU programmes and additional support, such as through the ESU website

     Person Specification

Essential criteria:

• Be over 18 years of age and have the right to work in the UK
• Be confident in engaging with and motivating young people of different abilities and backgrounds
• A passion for education, social mobility and/or developing young people's oracy skills
• Fully proficient in the English language with excellent spoken language skills
• A confident and engaging public speaker with experience hosting events or judging
• Technically competent, with experience in using Zoom professionally, ideally as a meeting host
• The ability to engage with and motivate young people of different abilities and backgrounds
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Commitment and ability to deliver a minimum number of ESU events between November - June
• Able to participate in mandatory training days

2. Following this, you will then be invited to attend either an in-person or online training day. This will be a skill-enriching, interactive session on the ESU, Competitions, judging and day of management.

4. Once you receive your DBS certificate, you will be fully onboarded as an ESU Competition Lead.

The role

About you

Mental Wellbeing Manager

Job Summary:

The Mental Wellbeing Manager will lead Manor Gardens’ culturally competent, trauma-informed mental health work with young men aged 18–25 funded by City Bridge Foundation, and oversee our wider wellbeing programme, funded through other sources including individual giving. They will be responsible for delivering early intervention and therapeutic support for young men from Black and minoritised backgrounds and refugees and asylum seekers, while also managing the delivery of a broader programme of community wellbeing activities for adults.

The postholder will line-manage two Activities Workers and have oversight of a pool of sessional staff and volunteers delivering peer support, group activities, and therapeutic interventions. This role requires a strong understanding of mental health, experience in group and 1-to-1 support, and a commitment to culturally competent, person-centred approaches.

Role Overview and Purpose:

The Mental Health Nurse is a key member of our team, focused on delivering high-quality mental health services to young men in the community. This role requires a proactive approach to engage with individuals who have not previously accessed mainstream mental health support, using culturally sensitive methods to build trust and promote mental well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

1. City Bridge Mental Health Programme Delivery (50%)

· Ensure the effective delivery of therapeutic and early intervention support for young men aged 18–25, including one-to-one and group support.

· Oversee work delivered by sessional psychotherapeutic staff and ensure quality, safeguarding, and continuity.

· Facilitate or coordinate safe, inclusive peer support spaces in community settings.

· Use culturally competent and trauma-informed practices to build trust and engagement among the target group.

· Conduct initial screening or assessments where appropriate and manage referrals to statutory and specialist mental health services.

· Collaborate closely with the Clinical Lead and Evaluation Lead to ensure the quality, safety, and effectiveness of delivery.

2. Recruit, train and support Peer Mentors

· Recruit two cohorts of 8 young bilingual adult men and women from Black, minoritised and refugee backgrounds, who have lived experience of mental ill health, exploitation, violence or traumas related to their experience of migration.

· Oversee the accredited training of 16 young adults as Peer Mental Health Mentors (two cohorts) in partnership with CANDI and ensure additional training in safeguarding, cultural competency and equalities

· Provide 121 support to Peer Mental Health Mentors and ensure they access clinical supervision

3. Management of Wellbeing Team and Sessional Staff (20%)

· Line-manage two Activities Workers responsible for delivering adult wellbeing activities (e.g. gardening, yoga, ESOL, conversation cafés).

· Provide supervision, direction, and support to ensure delivery aligns with MGWT’s values and trauma-informed approach.

· Oversee a pool of sessional facilitators and volunteers, ensuring coordination, safeguarding, and quality of delivery.

· Support co-production and ensure wellbeing activities are shaped by the voices of service users with lived experience.

4. Monitoring and Evaluation (10%)

· Maintain accurate records of all therapy sessions, assessments, and referrals.

· Collect and analyse data to evaluate the effectiveness of mental health interventions.

· Work with partners at Metropolitan University to ensure the external evaluation of the service.

· Contribute to the development of evaluation reports and share findings with key stakeholders including the All-Age Mental Health Partnership Board and Locality Leadership Boards.

5. Partnerships and Community Engagement (5%)

· Build and maintain strong relationships with local partners (e.g. CANDI, MIND, housing providers, youth and refugee organisations).

· Represent MGWT in borough-wide forums (e.g. All-Age Mental Health Partnership Board, Bright Lives Alliance).

· Promote the service through local outreach, events, and communication with community partners.

6. Organisational and Other Duties (5%)

· Contribute to MGWT-wide initiatives and cross-organisational learning and planning.

· Attend internal meetings, training, and working groups.

· Undertake other duties as reasonably required to support the effective functioning of MGWT services.

Qualifications and Experience

· A recognised qualification in mental health or psychological support (e.g. RMN, PGDip in Psychotherapy or Counselling, Occupational Therapy (Mental Health), or other UK-recognised accreditation).

· Significant experience delivering mental health or wellbeing support to people from minoritised or refugee backgrounds.

· Experience delivering trauma-informed and culturally competent support.

· Proven experience facilitating group and 1-to-1 support in community settings.

· Experience line-managing staff or volunteers.

· Experience supporting monitoring and evaluation or working with academic evaluators (desirable).

Knowledge and Skills

· Understanding of structural and cultural barriers to accessing mental health support.

· Familiarity with tools like SWEMWBS and Brief Resilience Scale, or similar wellbeing assessments.

Position

The Psychologist will deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychological interventions, providing psychological assessments, formulations, and therapeutic support to asylum seekers and refugees with complex trauma-related mental health needs. This role will focus on the delivery of trauma-informed care, including interventions such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET).

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Duration: 12 months FTC, with possibility of 3-year extension (subject to project funding)

Location: Birmingham/Sandwell (5-day in-person role working in the project clinic)

Job Purpose

About the role:

This role is based in London with Hybrid working.

As a Senior IDVA you will be:

• The main purpose of the job is to effectively manage and develop a high quality, innovative and pro-active domestic abuse service for victims and their children, including those at highest risk. Also you will need to ensure that the service prioritises the safety, security and dignity of service users and their children.
• The job would also include you being lead in crisis situations and to provide advice and guidance on safeguarding issues and information sharing concern
• Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.
• Develop your team and address their individual development/performance needs, set individual and team objectives and undertake annual appraisals.

You will need:

• To be successful in this role, you will need to have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact on victims and their children, and the legal and practical remedies available to these clients.
• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practice and legislation relating to equal opportunities and diversity, inclusivity, safeguarding and risk assessments.
• Experience managing the delivery of domestic abuse services and managerial experience will also be necessary as well as having a thorough understanding of IDVA work.
• A proven ability to confidently use various IT systems including Case Management, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Outlook and other online applications/platforms.
• You would also need to hold a SafeLives IDVA training certificate, a relevant degree, a vocational qualification or have equivalent experience.
• An enhanced criminal record check and police vetting is required for this role.

About the role

Our dedicated team moderates our full-service accounts (all organic content and paid ads) as well as one-off campaigns and appeals for some of the most recognisable charities in the sector. 

This role is perfect for skilled comms experts who can provide excellent supporter care and is best suited as an additional source of income (the majority of our team are freelancers and consultants). You must be able to begin moderation at 9 am (or earlier), wrap up by 9 pm and adhere to our sub-three-hour response time. 

Our moderators must have a minimum of three years’ in-house, third-sector comms experience. 

As a Social Media Moderator, you would be responsible for:

• Becoming the voice of the cause you are representing, adhering to their brand guidelines and tone of voice at all times

• Identifying, escalating and signposting any safeguarding issues

• Managing your own time and work on own initiative

• Working across a range of social media management tools

• Responding/actioning to all comments and queries in under three hours

• Maximising donations when required

Our moderation takes place between 9 am and 9 pm, Monday-Sunday. 

Different accounts will require varying levels of ‘active’ hours (defined as time spent taking action). You will split your active hours between 9am and 9pm. For example, for an account which requires three active hours, you might carry out your work in six, thirty minute instalments throughout the shift.

As you gain experience, you will be allocated multiple accounts which will enable you to increase your hours worked. 

Whilst you need to be on hand to monitor your accounts during 9am-9pm, the role does allow for a great deal of personal flexibility.
