About the role 

Our mission at Hope into Action is to enable the local church to house the homeless and we’re looking for a Church and Tenant Empowerment worker to join our team in Portsmouth. 

The role is based at our office in Portsmouth working in partnership with local churches to support and empower tenants in our homes in Portsmouth and the surrounding area. Our homes comprise of single male tenants or single female tenants or families, all of whom have experienced homelessness, and your role will be ensuring that all tenants have up to date personal development plans, risk assessments and ongoing support. 

Each home is partnered with a local church who provide love and friendship for the tenants, that you will also support. This will involve actively engaging with the church and maintaining church interest in the Hope into Action project. The role includes training, equipping, and encouraging church volunteers in their role as mentors and befrienders to the tenants. 

You will need to have a flexible approach to working outside of the normal 9-5 to be able to engage with tenants that work and the volunteers. You will be required to occasionally speak in Sunday services and get involved in occasional weekend and evening events. We are a Christian organisation and candidates values must be in keeping with the Christian faith.

About you 

For this role, you would be someone with a passion for the homeless and our values, who is able to work with church leaders and church members. You will need to be able to work with tenants with support needs, including poor mental health, past offending, and drug and alcohol dependency issues. We value good listening skills. The ability to work in a flexible team and learn new skills is important as we foster working within a strong supportive team. This is a key strategic role in our organisation. You will lead and manage the Somerset Diverse Communities (SDC) team. About the Role

FareShare GM redistributed an amazing 1,929 tonnes of surplus food to 306 community groups, supplying 4.6 million meals to those in need in 2023/24.  In June 2025, we distributed 207 tonnes of food or the equivalent of 494,680 meals to our beneficiaries. 

Working with FareShare UK, we help unlock good food from a wide variety of national and local food suppliers, food that otherwise would have gone in the bin.  We support diverse groups including those catering to the elderly, young families, the BAME community, disabled individuals and those facing homelessness or other forms of poverty.

It’s a busy operation with a lot of moving parts: you’ll take ownership for the smooth running of the Allocations office, supervising the safe distribution of surplus food to our Community Food Members by staff and volunteers.  By working closely with the Warehouse team and delivery drivers, you’ll help ensure timely, accurate and food safe compliant deliveries and collections, optimising our income whilst minimising food waste.

To be a success in this role, you’ll need to have experience in a busy office or operational environment, great communication skills, and experience supervising and motivating staff.  You can adapt to regularly changing priorities, are happy to get involved where needed and constantly review daily targets to keep the team on track.  Ideally you’ll have some experience with volunteers (or have volunteering experience yourself), and/or in the not for profit sector working with disadvantaged groups.

This is an exciting new role to head up DanceSyndrome’s Community work across Lancashire developing, nurturing, growing, and managing our community workshops. Working Hours

Our young people need care 24/7 so we have fixed rotas with different shifts (8, 10 and 12 hours) from 8 am to 10 pm for day staff; and from 9 pm to 8.30 am for night staff.

On average, you will be working 40 hours a week, so meaning if you work 4 shifts of 10 hours each, you will then get 3 days off.

Recruitment Process

At St Christopher’s we are committed to the safeguarding of all children and young people in our care. During the recruitment process you will be expected to complete an online application form to ensure we capture essential information to meet legislation, best practice and vetting requirements.

As our next Assistant Director of Policy, Practice & Influencing, you’ll ensure our strategy and plans for policy, public affairs, campaigns, and industry partnerships help our work towards make this ambition a reality.​

This is a rare opportunity to shape national and sector-wide policy at a time when suicide prevention has never been more urgent. Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team and leading a high-performing team across policy, public affairs and industry partnerships, you’ll set the strategic direction for our influencing work.​

This is a high impact senior leadership role with strategic responsibility for influencing Westminster government, industry, and media. We’re looking for a confident strategic thinker and values- led leader, someone who brings clarity, compassion and credibility in equal measure.​

You’ll be a visible ambassador, trusted adviser, and systems thinker, someone who can help shape our Influencing function to be able to drive forwards progress with our mission. ​You’ll help us build new partnerships, and ensure our voice is not only informed by evidence, lived experience, and practice, but is far reaching and amplified ensuring that Samaritans remains at the forefront of influencing much needed change for the future.

Contract Terms:​​

• Initially a 12month fixed term contract
• £75,000 - £80,000 per annum with Benefits
• We’re open to how this contract is worked, our full time hours are 35 hours per week, but we are passionate about flexible working, and would support you to work part time, talk to us about your preferences.
• Hybrid working: Linked to our Ewell (Surrey) office with a blend of home working and access to work from our offices in Ewell and London Bridge.
• In-person working: Meeting in person and working collaboratively are things we value. We work in person around 2 days or more per month.
