About Us
Our Future is a growing organisation working to put communities in control of their town's future. We support local people to shape a shared vision, drive change from the ground up, and unlock long-term funding while influencing national policy to better support community-led change.
Having started in Grimsby and expanded to Rochdale, we're now building a national movement.

In Grimsby, we're currently delivering the Growing Together Fund, a new, permanent and independent community fund designed to back local ambition, support practical ideas, and attract long-term investment into the town. This work forms part of a wider ambition to ensure local people have a stronger voice in shaping Grimsby's future.

The Role
As Place Associate, you'll play a vital role in supporting the delivery of Our Future's work across Grimsby. Working closely with the Place Lead, you'll help turn plans into action by building relationships, organising events, supporting communications and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of local activity.
This is a hands-on, community-facing position for someone who is passionate about Grimsby and excited by the opportunity to contribute to lasting local change. You'll be a visible and trusted presence across the town, helping to connect people, build momentum and strengthen participation in Our Future's work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with residents, community groups, local organisations and partners across Grimsby
  • Attend events and activities, acting as a visible representative of Our Future within the town
  • Organise and coordinate local events, managing logistics, venues, suppliers and attendee communications
  • Support the delivery of engaging activities that build trust, participation and shared purpose
  • Create and coordinate local communications, including social media content, newsletters and community updates
  • Work alongside colleagues and local storytellers to capture and share stories from the community
  • Provide administrative support including scheduling, record keeping and maintaining local databases
  • Support wider delivery of Our Future's plans across North East Lincolnshire as required

Experience & Skills
You may have gained experience in community engagement, events, administration, customer service or a similar environment. Most importantly, you'll bring enthusiasm, strong people skills and a genuine commitment to Grimsby and its future.

You will bring:

  • A strong connection to Grimsby and understanding of the local community
  • Experience building positive relationships with a diverse range of people
  • Experience supporting or delivering events
  • Strong written communication skills and confidence using social media platforms
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A practical, proactive and solution-focused approach
  • Confidence balancing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment

Personal Qualities

  • Warm, approachable and relationship-focused
  • Organised and dependable
  • Adaptable and comfortable working within a small, agile team
  • Positive, community-minded and collaborative
  • Creative and energetic, with a flair for engaging people and bringing ideas to life
  • Passionate about creating positive change in Grimsby

What We Offer

  • 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Five weeks' annual leave plus bank holidays
  • 10% employer pension contribution (3% employee contribution)
  • A flexible, values-driven culture built on trust, collaboration and shared purpose
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to Grimsby's future and be part of a growing national movement
