Social Media & Communications Volunteer

Do you love animals, social media and telling a good story?

We're looking for a Social Media & Communications Volunteer to join the Tiny Paws MCR team and help us make sure the tiniest paws have the biggest voices! 

Tiny Paws is a volunteer-run, vegan-run small animal rescue in Bury, Greater Manchester. We rescue rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, hamsters, gerbils, chinchillas and degus – and we're looking for someone creative to help us showcase their personalities, educate people about their needs and help them find the homes they deserve.

What will you do?

You'll help us:

• Create engaging content for Facebook, Instagram and TikTok
• Come up with ideas for Reels, TikToks, Stories and other short-form content
• Create adoption profiles for animals on our website
• Produce our monthly newsletter
• Share educational content about small-animal welfare, behaviour, enrichment and species-appropriate care
• Promote fundraising campaigns, events and volunteering opportunities
• Create content for our Tiny Paws Pals monthly donor community
• Help us promote Tiny Paws Pals and encourage more of our supporters to become regular monthly donors
• Create donor stories, impact updates and behind-the-scenes content showing our Tiny Paws Pals what their support makes possible
• Tell the stories of the animals who come through our doors – from their arrival at Tiny Paws to finding their forever homes
• Help us understand what content works and grow our online community

Who are we looking for?

You don't need to be a professional social media manager. We're looking for someone who is:

• Creative and full of ideas
• A confident writer
• Comfortable using social media
• Organised and reliable
• Good at working independently
• Passionate about animal welfare
• Comfortable communicating about fundraising and asking people to support a charity
• Able to turn a photo, video or few facts into a story people want to read!
• Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress, video editing, fundraising or social media analytics would be a bonus, but isn't essential providing you are willing to learn
• Most importantly, you need to understand and support what Tiny Paws stands for. We're an animal-rights-focused, vegan-run rescue and we're opposed to the breeding and selling of animals as pets.

What you'll get from volunteering with us

You'll be able to use your skills to make a genuine difference to rescue animals.

You'll gain experience creating real charity content, fundraising campaigns and donor communications, build your portfolio, work alongside our volunteer team and help animals find the homes they deserve.

The role is voluntary and flexible, with the exact commitment agreed around your availability.

📍 We're based in Bury, Greater Manchester, although much of the communications work can be done remotely.
