Director/Head of Transformational Philanthropy

Cambridge, Cambridgeshire (Hybrid)
£75,000 - £100,000 per year
Full-time
Permanent
Job description

This is a different kind of opportunity for a fundraiser. Rather than looking for someone to run an established programme, we are looking for someone who wants to help build one.

You might already be an experienced development professional who wants to work more entrepreneurially, to create and implement a new strategy, or you might be earlier in your fundraising career, with an entrepreneurial approach and a track record of securing major gifts, ready to step up into a senior leadership role for the first time. This is why we are looking at two different job titles: what matters most to us is your appetite to build something new, your comfort with ambiguity, and your ability to translate complex, technical work into a story that moves funders to invest at a transformational level.

For fifty years, TRAFFIC’s research, data and analysis have shaped how governments, businesses, law enforcement and international conventions respond to one of the most complex challenges facing the planet: how to stop illegal and unsustainable trade in wildlife, timber, fish and plants, while sustaining the livelihoods of hundreds of millions of households that depend on legal trade.

We are now embarking on a significant transformation: moving from a project-by-project model towards a bolder proposition, built around a Global Intelligence Hub and Systems Influence, using AI, data and next-generation analytics. It is a pivotal moment to join TRAFFIC, and this role will be central to how we fund our ambition.

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will grow and diversify TRAFFIC's income, with a particular focus on major gifts. You will lead our global fundraising strategy, building and personally managing a portfolio of major and principal gift relationships with high-net-worth individuals, trusts, foundations and corporate partners.

This is a chance to join a well-established and highly regarded organisation at a genuinely exciting moment. For an ambitious fundraiser, there are few propositions like this.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

TRAFFIC is committed to promoting equality, valuing diversity and working inclusively across our entire organisation. We seek to uphold these principles in our behaviour and practices, as an employer and as a global thought leader.
