About the role
Smart Works are looking to appoint a HR Advisor to join our People team at a time of significant growth for the organisation. Working closely with the existing team of two, the HR Advisor will play a crucial role in developing the centralisation of the function for all 11 centres across the UK.
The HR Advisor will manage the employee lifecycle staff processes and the trustee recruitment processes, supporting the Head of People in maintaining a professional and efficient function and contributing to the delivery of the People Teams plans and objectives.
An important part of the role is to build excellent working relationships with employees working across Smart Works. The successful candidate will also identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
Smart Works is a national charity, with Smart Works centres across the UK. There will therefore be occasional travel and liaison with local centres across the UK and HQ in London, to support induction and training, as well as the day-to-day role.
Duties and responsibilities

Manage the HR Inbox, advising managers and staff on terms and conditions of employment and legislation relevant to specific policies and procedures.
- Managing the recruitment inbox, provide guidance on staffing requirements.
- Lead user of the ATS system, oversee the recruitment process, posting job adverts, scheduling interviews, drafting letters and contracts.
- Support trustee recruitment, posting job adverts, liaising with trustees and co-ordinating responses via the recruitment inbox.
- Manage the onboarding and offboarding of employees and interns, including induction plans and process, coordinating probation reviews and exit interviews where appropriate.
- Day to day administration of Breathe HRIS, setting up of new profiles, calculating annual bank holidays, managing employee changes and document merge/uploads.
- Compile monthly payroll information.
- Provide advice to line managers and staff in relation to policies, tailoring communication to individual needs.

What does this role involve?
As Veterinary Behaviourist you’ll:
- Work with the Community Clinical Animal Behaviour and post-adoption support teams in devising the optimal behaviour rehabilitation strategy for dogs in their care while liaising with external veterinary practices as required to support the work of clinical teams.
- Support and advise staff across Dogs Trust on matters relating to psychoactive medication and links between disease, physiology and behavioural signs, under the direction of the Head of Clinical Behaviour Services.
- Provide behaviour consultations to owned dogs with behaviour problems especially those with a medical component that requires specialist input.
- Assist with staff training through workshops, clinical case reviews, mentorship and conferences.
About you:
With a good knowledge of dog behaviour, training and welfare you will have a veterinary qualification with postgraduate experience as a veterinary surgeon. With basic knowledge of statistical methods and ability to evaluate published research you will have enthusiasm for professional development, research and developing specialist skills in veterinary behavioural medicine.

You will be conducting assessments, risk assessments, care-planning and working directly with other services such as schools, social care, health provisions, alternative education providers and mental health services.The successful candidate must have exceptional organisational skills and the ability to work with other agencies both face to face, email and via telephone.
An energetic and confident self-starter, you will be required to hold a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we will consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse field with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care. CVAA UK is a membership organisation supporting not-for-profit organisations across the UK who specialise in adoption services. Over 3000 children in the UK need adoption each year because they cannot remain at home or with family members. The CVAA Practice Programme delivers 30 or more online courses each year to those working in the sector, primarily social workers. Due to a restructure of the team, we are now looking for a Training Manager who can oversee the delivery of the programme from mid to late July 2024. Main Purpose and Scope of the Role
This programme is part of a consortium bid via the NCS Community Grant scheme and will run from September 2023 until the end of March 2025. NCS is a government-funded initiative that brings together schools, community organisations, businesses and individuals to build a stronger and more cohesive society.
This role will work independently to deliver the Grow Your Ambition programme for young people aged 16/17 years across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. The programme will be delivered in partnership with local schools, during term time, and includes three experiences; Grow Your Life Skills, Grow Your Employability and Grow Your Community. This role is a fixed term contract until the end of March 2025.
Each young person engaged in the programme must participate in all three experiences, totalling 48 hours. Key phases of each experience include preparation, session and curriculum planning, liaising with schools and external partners and actual programme delivery.
Each programme consists of:
Grow your Life Skills
· A two day, one night, residential experience at our outdoor education centre, Caldecotte Xperience in Milton Keynes.
· Two outdoor adventurous activities on site that focus on teambuilding, communication and problem solving.
· Delivery of Life Skills sessions such as a cooking challenge, money skills, First Aid, mental resilience and more
· Total 24 hours
Grow Your Employability
· Two days based in school, delivered in line with the school day
· Delivery of a variety of Employability sessions such as personal presentation, confident speaking, CV writing and interview skills
· Total 12 hours
Grow Your Community
· Two days based in school, delivered in line with the school day
· One day delivery of a variety of sessions based on social action and community engagement
· One day volunteering with a local charity

Duties and Key Responsibilities
· Contact and recruit schools from across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes to sign up to the programme
· Organise delivery dates and programme timetables for their students within the contractual requirements of the programme
· Plan each programme and create a timetable of activities for students to follow
· Deliver sessions to groups of students as per each experience
· Stay overnight for the Grow Your Life Skills residential
- Work with local community organisations to host volunteering days
· Work within a set budget to deliver the programme, ensuring each experience is delivered to a high standard

· Deliver a high quality programme to young people across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes as per contractual requirements

Windsor Road service offers 11 beds to people experiencing mental ill health. We are a CQC registered residential care home. We offer individual one to one interventions and sessions such as social anxiety, anxiety, finance and budgeting, positive self-image, building self-esteem, support with diet and nutrition, healthy eating, sleep hygiene, DBT skills, building resilience, life skills, solution-based therapy, stress management etc. We offer a range of activities in our service planner including a daily coffee morning, a ‘here and now’ group, community gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, social inclusion and family and friends’ days. We support our residents with daily living skills where this is needed, such as support with shopping and cleaning tasks, this could include prompting or supporting alongside them. We also work closely with other agencies and our residents wider care teams, so good communication skills are required. And of course, all of this is recorded on our information management systems, so good record keeping and documentation is also essential. Our service consists of 8 24/7 Recovery Workers, a Service Manager and Registered Manager.
We know that recovery can look and feel very different to each and every one of us. But we also know that if we provide the right support, at the right time, we can inspire recovery nationwide and that recovery is possible for everyone. That’s where you come in. Responsible for helping and inspiring the people who use our services to achieve independence in the community, we’ll rely on you to work with them to come up with a person-centred support plan that will see them achieve their goals and aspirations, as part of your key worker role. - Work closely with the Education Lead to ensure our education offer is sector-leading, sustainable and aligned to the Charity’s strategic priorities
- Plan, manage and deliver to schedule high-quality online courses and resources, from agreeing learning outcomes to go-live
- In production and maintenance work, collaborate with colleagues including subject matter experts (such as clinicians in the Parkinson’s Excellence Network), technical specialists and other internal colleagues
- Support the development of an effective marketing strategy for the Learning Hub, working closely with Professional Engagement, Marketing and Media team colleagues

The Training Administrator plays a vital part in helping to deliver our goals, ensuring that we have an effective and sustainable learning and development programme.
About the role
The role will be central to coordinating our learning and development journey for staff and volunteers. You will be passionate about creating a learning culture and be the first point of contact for learners, organise online and in-person training workshops, and manage our Learning Management System. You will work closely with the People and Culture teams to build an efficient learning and development service and ensure that learners have access to what they need to engage in our learning and development offer. You will also collate evaluation data and create quarterly reports on our training programmes to share our learnings and successes.
About you
If your knowledge, skills and experience include the following then we’d love to hear from you:
- Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, succinct reports and data.
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and with excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills.
- Experience of supporting learning and development programmes and managing Learner Management Systems such as Moodle.
- Confidence in using Microsoft Excel at a basic or intermediate level
- Able to work effectively within a team, supporting multiple stakeholders including staff, volunteers and managers
- A flexible, solutions-focused and creative approach.

AFK (Action For Kids) is a national charity helping young people with disabilities to develop their independence and find employment. Our vision is a world where all people living with a disability get to lead the life they choose. As part of this we provide bespoke employment skills and organise work experience placements across North London. At a national level, we provide mobility equipment not available on the NHS for disabled children and young people up to the age of 26.
Job Purpose
To support young people aged 18+ who have disabilities and/or are neurodiverse to gain employment. The role will be to primarily liaise with businesses and employers to broker new opportunities for supported and unsupported employment. You will also work with a small caseload of young people, assessing their employability skills. You will work closely with the Employment & Skills team to place young people from the Employment Coaches caseloads into employment, as well as locate some voluntary roles and work placements. You will deliver one to one job coaching to enable young people to progress towards their own goals and objectives.
Working Conditions
The post is 35 hours a week, normally between 9.30am – 5.30pm. The post holder may be expected to work some evenings and weekends as required by the job. There is a TOIL policy. This role is peripatetic within London.
Principle Responsibilities
- Engage with businesses and employers to source and secure employment opportunities for the young people AFK work with.
- Encourage businesses and employers to offer volunteering, work tasters and work placements that may also lead to paid opportunities for young people.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the local labour market & opportunities relating to employment, work tasters, work placements and volunteering.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local employer groups, statutory, voluntary and private organisations to support the development of suitable opportunities.
