ROLE SUMMARY
This post holder will be a key member of our delivery team working across a portfolio of our inspiring projects and programmes that support young people to develop their skills, empower their potential and influence change.
We are looking for a fun and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication and time management skills, and someone with an understanding of the issues facing young people and how these can be addressed through our programmes.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Delivering engaging sessions, workshops, and events for young people, both in-person and occasionally online.
- Travelling to programme venues across Greater Manchester (reasonable travel expenses reimbursed).
- Supporting young people to develop skills and confidence, and helping them create projects that make a difference in their communities.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with young people, promoting active participation.
- Working with the Youth Leads UK team to plan, prepare, and deliver activities.
- Bringing new ideas to strengthen our programmes and youth engagement work.
- Being part of the team that represents Youth Leads UK at conferences and events, including volunteer and career fairs.
- Keep up to date on new developments and trends within the youth sector
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience working with young people in group or individual settings — this could include volunteering, mentoring, or supporting peers through school, college, or community projects.
- Strong communication skills (oral, written, and presentational).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent team player who works well collaboratively.
- Understanding of inclusion and the differing needs of young people from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
Desirable Knowledge and skills:
- Confident IT and social media user (e.g. Canva, Zoom, TikTok, Instagram).
- Understanding of community engagement, volunteering, or social action.
- Awareness of safeguarding and child protection (training provided).
- Awareness of issues affecting young people (e.g. education, wellbeing, employment).

About Us
We're a movement on a mission to amplify & centre young voices on charity boards across the UK. When boards are reflective of society and meaningful youth leadership is the norm, our job is done. We work towards our mission by campaigning for the inclusion of young people in decision-making spaces, supporting youth-led action, & running trainings for young people and charity boards on how to think differently about governance.
The Role
Young Trustees Movement is looking for Freelance Trainers to help us deliver our suite of trainings and shake up the charity sector from the inside. Our Freelance Trainers will deliver our trainings Board Boost (for young people) and Across the Board (for charity boards), as well as occasional bespoke sessions for a variety of clients. You’ll be responsible for running our trainings, keeping groups engaged and guiding discussions in an inclusive and supportive way that is in alignment with our movement values.
We’ll provide you with all the relevant training, resources and materials you need to run our sessions independently - and you’ll join a growing network of people helping us advocate for youth leadership & voice.
Main Responsibilities

Lead and conduct training sessions using Young Trustees Movement content & session plans

Facilitation of group discussions - Skillfully manage group dynamics, including handling difficult conversations, and ensuring all participants feel heard and respected

Stakeholder engagement & communication - Act as a point of contact for clients & stakeholders, effectively communicating programme progress & outcomes
Essential Requirements

Previous experience running workshops & trainings

Experience of working as a trainer, demonstrating a strong sense of independence & self-management

This role delivers a range of dynamic and engaging financial education programmes to young people,adults, and professionals. As part of our Programmes and Delivery Directorate, our trainers love working with our participants; they’re the front line of our work, representing Money Ready’s exceptional programme quality in a range of settings.
This role will work with both children and adults across our programme suite and will require significant travel to our delivery locations throughout the area to deliver face-to-face sessions to diverse groups of learners. Occasional virtual sessions will also need to be delivered. All delivery-related travel is covered.
We are proud of the quality of trainers we hire, and we have a good mix of people, including former teachers and youth workers.
You will be joining an excellent team in South England who know their stuff, so there will be ample opportunity for you to learn and to provide feedback on where our programmes might improve. You do not need to be an existing expert on financial education; we will train you on everything you need to know.

The Role:
Are you passionate about helping voluntary and community groups in the BCP Council area to survive and thrive? Can you effectively share your skills and expertise in running such groups with them?
You will be delivering information, advice, guidance, and bespoke support along with training as appropriate on the legal, income generation, technical and good practice aspects of running a VCS organisation.
You’ll be joining a flexible, innovative, and friendly team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and advise new and existing VCS organisations on governance, legal structures, trustee roles, strategic planning, and compliance.
- Provide tailored funding guidance, helping groups identify and access relevant grants, contracts, trading opportunities, and donor support.
- Develop and deliver training and resources, including webinars, model policies, and toolkits to strengthen organisational capacity.
- Facilitate collaboration and partnerships across the sector, encouraging shared learning, co-design, and collective action to meet community needs.
- Maintain strong networks and communication channels, offering one-to-one support, signposting to specialist services, and promoting the sector to stakeholders.
About you
You will have extensive knowledge of the voluntary and community sector (VCS) and an awareness of the changing environment for local communities and voluntary organisations and the challenges they face.
As a people person with great interpersonal skills, you’ll be able to build and maintain excellent professional relationships delivering bespoke support, which enables the local VCS to fulfil their missions more effectively, improve performance and governance and become stronger, safer, and more sustainable.
