Homeless Recovery Worker Assistant
24.5 hrs per week (Four days on / Four days off rolling rota - Early: 8:00 - 15:30; Late: 14:30 - 22:00)

We have an opportunity for a Homeless Recovery Worker Assistant to join our team that supports our clients, keeping them safe and helping them achieve their goals. You will help to provide people with homes and specialist support so they feel more valued and secure, and ready to take the next steps.
This is a great opportunity for those who have not worked in the homeless or care leaver service before. This role is a great stepping stone for those that would like a career in homeless services.
Wokingham Staying Close provides an enhanced support package for young people leaving care in semi-independent accommodation.
Our aim is to work with young people to develop the knowledge and skills they need to manage their own home, ensure their own safety and achieve their goals so they can take the next step into move on accommodation.
This role requires someone who is comfortable giving practical support to people who are learning to be independent and so an amount of life skills would be a good transferable skill.
Further responsibilities will include:

To support clients by helping them to gain practical life skills, and encourage their engagement with the running of the service

To assist clients with managing their finances, paying rent, managing arrears and accessing benefits

To carry out daily checks, for example, on clients and the property, and ad hoc housekeeping tasks

To support individuals to achieve their desired goals

To encourage and signpost clients to the local community and to resources relevant to their aspirations including education, training, employment activity or volunteering

This role will require an Enhanced with Barred List(s) disclosure and barring service check is a requirement for this role. This would be completed on appointment of the role.

Experience in a similar sector

Experience in customer service role

Good communication skills

Clear verbal and written English

Good keyboard skills for data inputting

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
