Help us reach more people with work that matters

The UK Electronics Skills Foundation (UKESF) is a national STEM education charity working to address the UK’s electronics skills shortage.

We are looking for a Marketing & Communications (MarComms) Executive to help us reach new audiences, strengthen how we communicate our programmes and create engaging content that brings our work to life.

You will join a small MarComms team and take ownership of significant areas of activity across UKESF. Working with the Head of Marketing & Communications, who sets the overall direction, you will turn priorities into effective campaigns, content and audience engagement.

This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who is comfortable both thinking and doing. As our marketing activity grows, we are looking for someone who will bring ideas, spot opportunities to improve how we work and help us deliver high-quality marketing efficiently.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Audience development and programme marketing

  • Work collaboratively with programme teams to understand target audiences and shape clear value propositions and messaging.
  • Develop and deliver activity that helps us reach and engage schools, students, universities, industry and other stakeholders.
  • Identify the right channels, networks, events and partnerships to build awareness and relationships.
  • Represent UKESF at selected external meetings and events where appropriate.

Campaigns, content and fundraising support

  • Plan and deliver marketing activities across different UKESF programmes and priorities, including campaigns, programme launches and audience recruitment.
  • Create engaging content across channels, including blogs, case studies, news stories, website copy, email, social media and short-form video.
  • Support fundraising activity through clear, compelling communications that demonstrate UKESF’s impact and help engage donors, partners and supporters.
  • Brief or coordinate external creative support, such as designers, photographers or videographers, where specialist input is needed.

Digital engagement, brand and insight

  • Use UKESF’s website, email and social media channels effectively to help audiences discover, understand and engage with our work.
  • Use analytics and other available data to understand audience behaviour, assess what is working and improve marketing activity.
  • Help ensure UKESF’s brand is applied consistently across communications and marketing materials.
  • Keep up to date with relevant digital marketing trends and identify opportunities that could strengthen our approach.

Planning, and continuous improvement

  • Maintain campaign plans, content schedules and other practical tools that support effective delivery.
  • Contribute to team planning, evaluation and reporting on marketing activity.
  • Identify ways to improve the quality and efficiency of our work, including appropriate use of AI and other emerging tools.
  • Provide informal guidance and mentoring to junior team members.

What we’re looking for

We are particularly interested in people who can demonstrate:

  • Experience of working in a generalist marketing and communications role
  • Experience planning and delivering marketing activity across multiple channels.
  • The ability to understand different audiences and turn that insight into clear, effective communications.
  • Confidence creating digital content, including basic video creation and editing.
  • Confidence using straightforward marketing data to improve activity.
  • The ability to take ownership, manage competing priorities and follow work through.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach with colleagues across a small organisation
  • Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills.

Confidence creating engaging visual content would be a real advantage, although you do not need to be a specialist designer.

You do not need experience in Electronics or engineering. We are looking for someone who can work with subject specialists, understand what matters and turn that into clear, engaging communications. You will not need to meet every requirement to be considered. If the role excites you and you think you could make a strong contribution, we would be very happy to hear from you.

Proposed Interview Dates

  • Stage 1 (telephone) = w/c 9th November
  • Stage 2 (in--person at our offices) = 19th November
