ABOUT SAFETY4SISTERS

Safety4Sisters (S4S) is a specialist Black and minoritised by and for women’s organisation based in Manchester. Our aim is to promote the human rights of migrant women experiencing a spectrum of gendered violence by providing a trauma informed, specialist, holistic and integrative programme of support to Black and minoritised survivors with NRPF. Support is underpinned by the following strands of services and activities; culturally competent advocacy, welfare and destitution support, a specialist refuge dedicated to migrant women with NRPF, therapeutic activities, groups and training, social activities, a helpline for both professionals and women, grassroots campaigning, and strategic advocacy. 

JOB PURPOSE

To support the development and delivery of Safety4Sisters’ policy, campaigning, and influencing work to advance the rights, safety, and wellbeing of Black, minoritised and migrant women and children experiencing violence against women and girls (VAWG).

The post holder will contribute to influencing local, regional, and national policy and decision-making on VAWG, honour-based abuse, harmful practices, immigration and asylum policy, and no recourse to public funds (NRPF). This work will be rooted in survivor voice, frontline practice, and Safety4Sisters’ feminist and anti-racist values.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1.To contribute to the planning and delivery of Safety4Sisters’ policy, campaigning, and influencing work in line with the organisation’s strategic priorities.

2.To undertake policy research and analysis on issues affecting Black, minoritised and migrant women experiencing VAWG, including immigration, asylum, and NRPF.

3.To draft policy briefings, consultation responses, reports, statements, and other written submissions to influence decision-makers and statutory bodies.

4.To work closely with frontline staff, partners, and where appropriate victim-survivors, to ensure that policy and campaigning work is informed by lived experience and practice-based evidence.

5.To support parliamentary, local authority, and regional influencing activity, including engagement with MPs, councillors, civil servants, and statutory agencies.

6.To assist in organising and delivering policy events, roundtables, seminars, conferences, and briefings for external stakeholders.

7.To represent Safety4Sisters at external meetings, networks, events, and forums as required, promoting the organisation’s policy positions and values.

8.To contribute to raising public and professional awareness of VAWG, honour-based abuse, and the specific barriers faced by migrant women, including institutional racism and hostile immigration policies.

9.To manage Safety4Sisters’ social media platforms, ensuring content supports the organisation’s policy, campaigning and advocacy work and reflects S4S values and safeguarding principles.

10. To support Safety4Sisters’ partners and stakeholders to engage with policy advocacy, communications, and campaigning activity, including providing guidance and resources where appropriate.

About the role

Sitting within our people and organisational development team and reporting into the senior learning & organisational development manager, you’ll support us with a wide range of administrative duties across the learning & development; people; equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and internal communications & engagement functions.

• Awareness campaigns: Support relevant awareness days and weeks throughout the year, primarily via social media, contributing a Brazelton-informed voice to wider sector themes and discussions.
• Baby Communication Week: Plan and deliver Baby Communication Week, the organisation’s annual awareness campaign, ensuring strong thematic focus and high-quality events to maximise educational impact and engagement.
• Strategic initiatives: Support additional initiatives that increase the reach, visibility, and impact of the organisation’s work in line with strategic objectives.

3. Content Creation and Brand Compliance

• Visual content: Use design tools such as Canva to produce visual assets — including graphics, videos, and, on occasion, printed materials such as posters — for social media, newsletters, the website, and events, ensuring all content is visually engaging and aligned with the organisation’s branding.

We know that 91% of people affected by a brain tumour will have experienced a negative impact to their emotional well-being; often exacerbated by cognitive issues, personality changes, long term side effects and reduced prognosis. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about talking to those affected by a brain tumour diagnosis and supporting them through our different channels, including phone line, live chat and email.

In this role, you will work across both our Counselling Service and Adults support team, helping us provide a seamless, joined up experience for our service users. You’ll provide empathetic, practical support directly to individuals, whilst also supporting the day to day running of our free counselling service - overseeing referrals, supporting assessments and helping ensure each element of the service meets our standards and the needs of the community. By bridging both teams, you will play a key role in making sure people receive the right emotional and practical support at the right time, no matter how they reach us.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Someone who can support a wide range of people – from those who are looking for general information about treatment or care, to those who need more detailed support from the point of diagnosis, you will be passionate about improving the lives of those affected by a brain tumour.

You will be empathetic and professional, with experience of working in a busy admin or service delivery role. The ideal candidate would also have a strong understanding of counselling principles and practice and would be able to confidently explain our different support services to service users. We are looking for someone with excellent IT and telephone skills and the ability to learn and use various databases is essential.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Provide specialist emotional and practical support and information to people affected by brain tumours, their friends, families and carers through channels including phone, email and live chat.

• Offer enhanced follow up support for individuals who may benefit from counselling, helping them explore their needs and acting as key link between the helpline and counselling service.

• Provide administrate support for our counselling team, including managing a busy diary to ensure effective and high-quality service delivery.

• Complete counselling assessments to identify needs, risks and appropriate support options for anyone who has referred into the service

• Maintain appropriate and accurate records on our service system and CRM database, as required to evidence the impact and reach of our support services

• Support a team of volunteer assessors and helpline triage volunteers to ensure they receive the help and guidance they need to deliver their role.

• Provide accurate, up-to-date information based on current research, clinical guidance and treatments, conducting your own research and adapting communication to each person, while sharing key insights with the team.

• Offer coaching guidance to empower individuals, helping them to achieve the appropriate next steps.

• Develop and review website information related to counselling, mental health and emotional support, ensuring information is accurate and accessible.

• Work to promote the service across all areas of charity and within the wider community

About the role:
As the Bid Officer, you will support statutory and non-statutory funding across Advance’s services, with oversight by the Development Manager and support from the Development and Fundraising Co-ordinator. They will also provide assistance to the Head of Fundraising. You will plan and produce compliant proposal documents, bringing together expertise, best practice, research and data to develop compelling tender responses. FearFree delivers services across the Southwest for victims, children and perpetrators of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking with the aim to break the cycle of abuse and supporting all to live free from fear. We provide trauma responsive support, and this post will be fundamental to ensuring service users, stakeholders, and partners experience this in our daily delivery.

As the Devon Service Manager, you will oversee all the adult ITRS team and be instrumental in developing and sustaining networks, partnerships and new networks across Devon.  You will be responsible to the Head of Service and be part of the service manager team working closely alongside the other service managers.

Alongside your service manager colleagues, you will play a key leadership role in the delivery, development, and oversight of high-quality services for individuals impacted by domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking, as well as for those who use harmful behaviours. You will be part of a team managing a diverse portfolio of services spanning prevention, crisis intervention, behaviour change, survivor recovery, and professional training. These include in-person interventions and digital platforms, therapeutic services and outreach across all age groups and communities.

You will be responsible for ensuring that our services are trauma-responsive, culturally competent and inclusive, with a strong focus on safeguarding, survivor voice and best practice. You will support teams to deliver consistently excellent support, ensure contract compliance and drive continuous improvement and innovation in a changing landscape.

As part of the Service Manager team, you will also hold strategic responsibility in scoping new projects, supporting research and business development opportunities. You will also ensure that the wellbeing and development of our people is at the front of our management and leadership priorities.

As the Devon Service Manager, you will have experience working with health professionals in a management or training capacity, and a comprehensive understanding of trauma-informed practice and managing risk. This service takes an innovative approach to both delivering training to GP surgeries and providing therapeutic support to patients referred to us via surgeries who have received our training.

Operational Responsibilities

• Service Delivery Oversight: Ensure the smooth and effective daily running of services across all areas—domestic abuse, sexual violence, stalking, behaviour change, survivor recovery, and training—delivered both in-person and digitally.

Ensuring all staff and volunteers are effectively performance managed and live the charity’s values and have all appropriate resources to achieve excellence in their field. • Safeguarding and Risk Management: Lead on child safeguarding and act as Deputy Safeguarding Lead when required. Oversee safeguarding practices across services, ensuring timely risk assessments, safety planning, and escalation of concerns.
• Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement: Monitor service quality through audits, case file reviews, feedback, and outcome data. Lead service improvements in response to learning, client feedback, and evolving best practice.
• Policy and Compliance: Ensure all services operate within legal, regulatory, contractual, and policy frameworks. Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with data protection and safeguarding legislation.
• Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track and analyse performance data to assess impact, identify trends, and inform service planning. Produce high-quality reports for internal leadership, commissioners, and funders.
• Partnerships and Representation: Maintain strong local and strategic partnerships with statutory and voluntary agencies. Represent the charity in multi-agency forums, commissioning meetings, and stakeholder events.
• Crisis and Incident Management: Support staff with complex or high-risk cases. Lead operational responses to critical incidents or safeguarding escalations in collaboration with senior leaders. Provide Duty Out of Hours cover as part of a Senior Management Rota for safeguarding and incident management.
• Volunteer and Student Engagement: Oversee the safe and meaningful integration of volunteers and student placements into service delivery, ensuring appropriate supervision and development opportunities.
