Assistant Social Media Manager

Overview 

Are you a vegan wildlife enthusiast who wants to make a difference and protect UK Wildlife? Why not volunteer on our small, friendly team and create educational online content?  

This remote, flexible, part-time (5 hrs/wk) role is ideal for someone passionate about UK wildlife, animal wellbeing, and ethical conservation.
 

Summary of the Role

• Create 1 social media post a week using Canva Pro.

• Your posts will focus solely on UK wildlife issues. Eg: hunting, shooting, human-animal conflict, roadkill.

• Research resources with appropriate copyright licenses (copyright training given).

• Critically analyse information to create challenging responses to the status quo and campaign for UK wildlife rights.

• Write persuasive captions to accompany your post.

• Submit your post to a feedback and edit process before publication.

• File your published post in our folder system.

  • A lover of all UK wildlife. 

  • Experience with Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Tiktok (1M likes), whether as an enthusiastic individual or in an organisation.

  • Computer and good internet connection.

  • Weekly online meeting to discuss ideas, measure progress and plan tasks.

  • Ideally volunteer 5 hours a week.

  • Respond daily to emails Mon - Fri

  • Reside in the UK to fulfil our insurance criteria

  • Experience with Google Workspace.

  • Well written and spoken English.

  • Computer proficient

  • Understand how speciesism negatively impacts UK wildlife.

  • Any training with Canva.

  • Any education or training with wildlife, conservation, ecosystems etc

  • Any education or training in graphic design etc.

  • Less experienced applicants would need a resourceful nature and a willingness to learn new skills.

  • Use creative ideas and outside-the-box thinking for thought-provoking and factual social media posts.

  • Create content in keeping with our brand.

  • An excellent general knowledge of UK wildlife issues. 

  • Able to critically analyse information. eg: government press releases

  • The ability to write persuasive copy that allows people to challenge mainstream perceptions.

  • Several years of experience creating fun, educational online content.

  • Several years of experience working with social media channels, whether as an enthusiastic individual or an organisation.
