The London Victim and Witness Service is looking for an Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate to join our IDVA team working 37.5 hours per week. This role offers hybrid working between West Middlesex Hospital, home & the office.

About the role:

This role is hybrid, working 2 days per week in West Middlesex Hospital- Hounslow, home working and team office days.
As an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will:

  • Implement effective ways of working with victims to increase safety and reduce harm
  • Provide a high quality frontline service to victims of domestic abuse, prioritising according to risk
  • Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC & local partnsership responses to keep safety central for victims of domestic abuse

You will need:

  • Have a good understanding of domestic abuse & it's impace
  • To understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management
  • To understand safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues
  • Direct experience of service delivery to vulnerable people
  • Good communication, negoatiation & advocacy skills, both written & verbal when interacting with a range of agencies & individuals
  • Have strong crisis management skills & the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations
