Road Collision Caseworker
We are looking for a dedicated & compassionate Road Collision Caseworker (RCC) to join our team in West Mercia.
A Road Collison Caseworker will provide trauma informed support to eligible service users. Eligible service users may include those bereaved by a criminal road traffic collision and those who have witnessed, or who are otherwise affected by, road death.
This role is part time, 30 hours a week and is home-based with regular travel across West Mercia required.

About the Role
As a Road Collision caseworker you will manage a caseload of complex cases, completing actions agreed on Support Plans and reviewing needs with service users on a regular basis. RCCs will advocate for service users, including with the Coroner, and where needed with utility companies, employees, schools and local authorities. Once a service user is ready to leave the service the RCC will help to ensure they have the ongoing support they need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a complex case-load of eligible service users from the point of referral until they choose to exit the service, implement Victim Support's policy, procedures and standards
- Undertake needs assessments with all eligible service users, including children and young people
- Develop a bespoke Support Plan in collaboration with service users which is reviewed and updated at key points
- Provide trauma informed support to service users through a range of modalities including in-person and remotely, depending on the preference of the service user. This will include undertaking home visits.
- Advocate on behalf of service users throughout with Central Motorway Policing Group, Family Liaison Officers, Coroner, housing, schools and employers.
About You
Ideally, you will
- Experience of complex case management including advocacy
- Experience of developing links with partner organisations
- Experience of risk and needs assessment frameworks
- Understanding of coronial (inquest) processes
- Good knowledge of trauma informed working practices
- Understanding of effective safeguarding practices
- Knowledge of working with diverse communities
You will need:
- Experience of working with bereaved people, or other highly vulnerable people
- Ability to work autonomously
- Strong listening skills
- Ability to work calmly in emotional/stressful situations
- Ability to represent the organisation in a variety of settings in a confident and professional manner
- Demonstrate fluency in computer literacy
- UK Driving Licence, access to vehicle and ability to drive
This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement.
