Fauna & Flora works to conserve marine and coastal ecosystems and is committed to mobilising action from the grassroots up to reverse ocean decline. As part of our approach, we seek to both inform and influence policies and practice affecting the marine environment – such as those relating to fishery reform and to illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. In Central America, small-scale fishing operations, which provide vital sustenance and cultural heritage for coastal communities, coexist alongside semi-industrial fleets, which with their technological prowess, wield a formidable presence in some area. Effective management and policies are essential to ensure that fishing practices remain sustainable, balancing the needs of coastal communities with the long-term health of marine ecosystems.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable research experience in the field of marine conservation and fisheries management. You will use your Spanish language skills to conduct a comprehensive desk review and preliminary comparative assessment of policy frameworks in both Spanish and English. You will develop practical research and analytical skills while deepening your understanding of the complexities surrounding marine resource management in the region. Engaging with a variety of stakeholders and synthesising insights from our in-country staff and local partners will enhance your communication and networking abilities, providing you with a holistic perspective on conservation challenges and opportunities at local and national levels.
Moreover, by contributing to the identification of successful case studies and areas for intervention, you will play a vital role in shaping effective conservation strategies, thus making a tangible impact on biodiversity conservation efforts in Central America. We are looking for a passionate, creative individual to create a menu that will reflect the design and continue to be accessible to our visitors.
Our café is an important part of the gallery, and our Chef Manager is responsible for providing a welcoming, friendly environment, serving a high quality menu with excellent customer service. This is an operational and hands on role where the large majority of time is spent planning and preparing the café food and drinks and interacting with the general public. The Chef Manager is also responsible for the supervision and the rota management of our café staff, and will collaborate closely with our Commercial Manager to maximise profits and further develop the Café in line with the Gallery’s aims and objectives.
The Modern Art café is currently open Tuesday to Sunday 10am-4pm and we work as a team to produce a clear menu offering paninis, soups, and seasonal specials as well as a wide range of cakes and pastries. Devising dishes to limit wastage and working to strict budgets is a very important part of our menu planning.

Our three Communities Teams are responsible for identifying, investigating and intervening in housing and homelessness practice issues. We engage with our local communities to understand the issues people are facing and apply expert housing knowledge, insight and analysis to identify solutions to them. About the role
As a Housing Rights Worker, you’ll be responsible for delivering high quality housing advice and advocacy in our offices, in community settings and remotely in line with local pressing issues. That will involve developing relationships within communities through a range of interactions, including delivering housing rights workshops. It will also involve engaging, enabling and empowering people with lived experience of homelessness to share their story, give their views and participate in interventions at a local and national level. Influencing a range of stakeholders and decision makers across the housing sector will be important too. And, when it comes to harnessing strong relationships with external partners or recording stories, data and evidence to develop insight that helps us drive systems change, again, well count on you.
About you
Already with some relevant experience, you’re used to working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, have great time management skills and enjoy collaborating with people from other teams and organisations. What's the role about
