Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led literacy across a number of prisons. We now have the opportunity to provide a service at HMP Foston Hall (subject to contract award). Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy programme at HMP Foston Hall, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach.

This role will be prison-based. We are looking for a passionate, creative individual to create a menu that will reflect the design and continue to be accessible to our visitors.

Our café is an important part of the gallery, and our Chef Manager is responsible for providing a welcoming, friendly environment, serving a high quality menu with excellent customer service. This is an operational and hands on role where the large majority of time is spent planning and preparing the café food and drinks and interacting with the general public. The Chef Manager is also responsible for the supervision and the rota management of our café staff, and will collaborate closely with our Commercial Manager to maximise profits and further develop the Café in line with the Gallery’s aims and objectives.

The Modern Art café is currently open Tuesday to Sunday 10am-4pm and we work as a team to produce a clear menu offering paninis, soups, and seasonal specials as well as a wide range of cakes and pastries. Devising dishes to limit wastage and working to strict budgets is a very important part of our menu planning.

Our three Communities Teams are responsible for identifying, investigating and intervening in housing and homelessness practice issues. We engage with our local communities to understand the issues people are facing and apply expert housing knowledge, insight and analysis to identify solutions to them. About the role

As a Housing Rights Worker, you’ll be responsible for delivering high quality housing advice and advocacy in our offices, in community settings and remotely in line with local pressing issues. That will involve developing relationships within communities through a range of interactions, including delivering housing rights workshops. It will also involve engaging, enabling and empowering people with lived experience of homelessness to share their story, give their views and participate in interventions at a local and national level. Influencing a range of stakeholders and decision makers across the housing sector will be important too. And, when it comes to harnessing strong relationships with external partners or recording stories, data and evidence to develop insight that helps us drive systems change, again, well count on you.

About you

Already with some relevant experience, you’re used to working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, have great time management skills and enjoy collaborating with people from other teams and organisations. The Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Team is looking for a Race Equity Officer to co-ordinate and support organisational-wide race equity workstreams and specialist projects included in our Achieving Race Equity Taskforce.

What's the role about

This is a key role working alongside our Project Manager and Senior Race Equity specialist to shape our ways of working to be more inclusive. This will include coordinating activities, supporting taskforce members, researching, create content and training materials with support.

The role would suit somebody with strong organisational and communication skills with a background in race equity work who wants to apply these skills in the conservation sector, or someone with demonstrable coordination/administration skills and EDI knowledge and experience that wants to step into the race equity space.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of coordinating and synchronising resources and people, in the delivery of anti-racist or EDI related activities and events.
• Awareness of the intersectional impact of protected characteristics, the Equality Act 2010 and barriers to people of colour, disabled people and people in other protected groups at work. 
• Experience of generating ideas that relate to EDI topics, creating short written or visual content, making information accessible to different audiences as a blog, video, infographic or other content formats.
• Strong administration and organisational skills, including the ability to manage data or records, manage own time and prioritise, create basic project plans and meet agreed deadlines.
• Experience of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and calendar or similar
• Strong IT skills across a range of software including knowledge or willingness to learn using SharePoint to a good standard.
• Experience of working with ethnically diverse groups or networks in a workplace or voluntary setting with a coproduction approach.
• Ability to recognise and communicate sensitive topics and consider how differences in background and experience might affect how this needs to be planned and delivered.
• Ability to work as part of a team to build trust and strong positive relationships with others, modelling compassion, active empathy and the values of the organisation.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of supporting behaviour change in large and complex settings.
• Experience of working with a Taskforce or group dedicated to achieving race equity or an EDI related area. 
• Excellent knowledge of race equity/equality standards and policies, including best practises within the UK. 
• Experience of responding to race equity/equality issues in the conservation sector.

The role

As Community Fundraiser you will manage and develop myaware’s community events and support in aid of fundraisers. Who are we?

Myaware is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to the care and support of people affected by myasthenia. 

We are working hard to raise awareness of myasthenia, as it is a little-known condition. We provide support for people with myasthenia and their families, whilst offering advice and tips for living with the condition. 

We also fund the research that brings us closer to finding a cure as well as funding specialists nurses and advisors.
