Job description

Mental health is one of the most urgent issues facing young people today. At YoungMinds, we are leading the fight to make sure that all young people can get the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what.

We’re looking for a Senior Campaigns Officer to mobilise our network of young Activists and engage a wider group of supporters and campaigners to drive real change for millions of young people. Our tenacious and talented external affairs team has secured major campaign wins and significant new funding for services in recent years which have the potential to make a massive difference. But there is so much more we need to achieve.

As a pivotal figure in this important work, you will play a leading role in our campaigning, creating innovative and ground-breaking ways of achieving change, co-designed with young people.

You will be an experienced campaigner, who is passionate about social justice and determined to ensure the voices of young people are heard by those in power. You have proven experience of delivering engaging creative campaign concepts that, alongside producing effective communications, enables you to reach different audiences providing meaningful impact.

You will be comfortable working in collaboration with departments across YoungMinds and with other organisations on policy campaigns, coalition campaigns and important public and organisation-wide ‘moments’ through the year.

Ultimately, you will understand the role great campaigning plays to inspire and drive real change for young people.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • experience of working on high profile policy campaigns, with a solid understanding of campaign theory and strategy
  • be a creative thinker, with knowledge and experience of using ideas to build relationships and achieve change
  • experience of engaging people with lived experience of an issue, service users and/or campaigners in your work
  • experience of overseeing impactful campaign communications, including social and digital in order to reach a variety of audiences
  • strong project co-ordination skills with the ability to manage multiple projects including planning, implementing, overseeing and evaluating them to meet agree deadlines and targets, responding to changing circumstances
  • excellent copywriting skills

We welcome applications from Black and minoritised, LGBTQIA+ groups and those with disabilities, as they are currently under-represented.

We hope that you would like to join us at a very exciting stage of our growth and development. You’ll be joining a bright, dynamic team who have a passion for supporting our ambitions.
