ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Management Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of the finances, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting and compliance with statutory requirements. The role will provide the CEO and Trustees with high-quality financial information to inform decision-making, risk management and the Charity's strategic objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP
• Leading financial strategy, planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting
• Overseeing monthly management accounts, statutory reporting and audit processes
• Ensure compliance with UK charity regulators, Companies House (if applicable) and HMRC requirements
• Production of monthly/quarterly management accounts and associated commentary
• Collation of year-end information for the annual accounts and liaising with external auditors
• Drafting going concern assessments and responses to management letters
• Monitoring adherence to the Charity’s reserves policy and use of unrestricted/restricted funding
• Overseeing Gift Aid claims for timely/accurate submissions and efficient processing
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
• Assisting with annual budgets and business planning
• Providing financial oversight of new campaigns and strategic initiatives
• Monitoring/forecasting cash-flow
• Monthly payroll processing
• Overseeing all transactional and bookkeeping aspects
• Managing the financial bookkeeper team
• Liaising with the bank and other external bodies
• Overseeing the production of VAT returns for the trading subsidiary
• Maintaining fundraising and donation records
• Advising trustees and committees with clear financial analysis
• Attending board meetings
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA) with +5 years of accounting experience at a senior level
• Strong experience in the UK charity sector and knowledge of SORP FRS102
• Strong experience of accounting systems, including Sage 50 Accounts
• Proven ability to produce management accounts and budgets
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
• Excellent Excel skills
• E-commerce experience, including payment systems
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent organisation and time management
• Team player with a can-do attitude and genuine passion for charitable work

About the Role

We are Zarach, the children’s bed charity. We are on a mission to end child bed poverty, helping children get a good night’s sleep and the chance to thrive at school.
In our nearly eight years as a registered charity, we’ve captured the hearts and attention of many individuals, community groups, businesses and funders who want to support us on our mission. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As we grow, we are looking to recruit a Fundraising and Supporter Engagement Officer to join the Fundraising team, for an initial fixed-term period of 12-months.
As our ideal candidate, you will need to be within commuting distance of our Leeds warehouse, allowing you to travel regularly to meet with the team. This is a hybrid role based between the Leeds warehouse and home, with at least two days per week at the warehouse. Some travel to other locations may be required occasionally for events.
You will be an enthusiastic team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will be organised and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities, and work to deadlines.
Alongside your related skills and experience, we’ll be looking to see that you have a genuine care for our mission and, as such, are self-motivated to do a great job and be a values-led member of our team.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day to day finances of the charity

What You’ll Bring
- Full or part qualified or working towards a relevant accountancy qualification
- Experience of using a digital accounts package for bookkeeping (Quickbooks desirable)
- Experience of producing management accounts, budgets and financial information, and preparing draft financial accounts
- Experience of servicing a Board level committee including minute taking, preparing agendas, papers and minutes.

Main Purpose and Scope of the Job:
Prepare compelling responses to grant applications, support the Business Development Director and wider leadership team with responses to complex tenders and high-value funding applications.

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) is seeking two experienced Policy Managers to join our Health Policy team to provide maternity cover. This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in shaping national child health policy and influencing decision-makers across England and the wider UK.
Reporting to the Head of Health Policy, you will work with College Officers, policy committees, experts and external stakeholders to identify, analyse and deliver a wide range of child health policy projects and activities. You will lead policy development using research, evidence and horizon scanning to inform outputs and support the College’s influencing work.
These are high-visibility roles covering priority areas including prevention, child health inequalities, child protection and children’s rights. You will be recognised as a subject expert in your policy area(s) and will work collaboratively across the organisation and externally to maximise impact.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development of evidence-based policy to influence the child health agenda in England, working with devolved nations colleagues on UK-wide issues
- Horizon scanning and monitoring emerging developments in child health policy to inform strategy and planning
- Producing consultation responses, briefings, analysis and policy reports
- Delivering policy projects using strong project management, matrix working and time-bound working groups
- Building and managing relationships with stakeholders across government, academia, charities, professional bodies and the health sector
- Representing the College externally at meetings, events, conferences and policy forums
- Supporting policy committees and College Officers through expert advice, briefings and coordination of workplans
- Managing and developing a direct report (Health Policy Assistant / Projects Officer)
Essential skills and experience include:
- Relevant professional experience or graduate-level qualification in policy or a related field
- Extensive experience in policy development and influencing, with recent policy outputs
- Strong experience analysing research, evidence, data and health service information

About the team
The Policy team is a small, collaborative and collegiate team looking to expand. We have a unique set-up, sitting separately to but working closely alongside the Communications team as part of the wider Public Affairs team. We influence key decision makers through direct engagement with senior officials, commissioning and sharing research and insight and supporting coalitions which include our portfolio charities to take their voice to decision makers to secure policy and funding commitments.

About this role
The Public Affairs Officer is a new and exciting role in a rapidly expanding organisation at the forefront of youth policy. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support the strengthening of Impetus’ public affairs profile, as well as support colleagues to strengthen and maintain relationships with parliamentarians, decision-makers, sector stakeholders and wider civil society.

You’ll have a passion for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across government and the third sector. You will have a good understanding of the UK’s policy environment with an interest in increasing your knowledge and relationships in this area and developing and expanding links with a range of parliamentary, government and other key stakeholders.
The Public Affairs Officer will be part of the wider Public Affairs Team. Though you will report to the Head of Youth Employment Policy, you will work across both our education and employment policy work, and will be expected to regularly collaborate with the Communications Team, and will understand the role of communications in shaping the political agenda and the public debate. You will have experience of writing for a wide range of audiences, ranging from policy briefings to social media content.
This role supports the delivery of high-quality public affairs work, following agreed plans, templates and processes, and escalating risks or issues promptly.
We’re interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong organisational skills, with experience of either leading or supporting the coordination and delivery of events. We’d particularly like to hear from candidates who have managed a CRM database such as Salesforce. You will be a strong team player, with a collaborative working style.

• Work with the Heads of Policy and Communications teams to contribute to public affairs plans by providing research, coordination and administrative support from the outset of each project

About Adolescent Health Study
The Adolescent Health Study (AHS) is an ambitious new UKRI-funded initiative to establish a prospective, longitudinal population study that will generate a globally leading open science data platform and research resource. AHS aims to recruit at least 100,000 young people from across the UK and to follow their mental and physical health and wellbeing over at least 10 years. It plans to collect data through questions and measures; to obtain bio-samples for a wide range of genomic and other high-throughput assays; and to capture linked data relevant to health and wellbeing from participants’ health, education and other administrative records. There will be a strong emphasis on engaging with and involving young people, schools, parents and other relevant stakeholders in the design and delivery of the study, as well as on including young people that represent as wide as possible a range of backgrounds, experiences and characteristics. AHS will focus on enabling a wide range of research, including studies of the critical biological and social developments that occur during the transition from childhood to adulthood and the determinants of both mental and physical health and wellbeing in adolescents and young adults.
Purpose of the post
The Study Delivery and Governance Lead will play a central role in ensuring AHS meets the highest ethical, governance and regulatory standards. The post holder will lead the development, submission and oversight of the AHS Research Tissue Bank application, coordinate ethical approvals and ongoing amendments, and provide governance leadership to support study development and delivery.
They will also oversee elements of study set up and delivery, supporting the development of piloting tools and protocols, and addressing operational and logistical considerations necessary for successful delivery. They will line‑manage Research Officers and Senior Research Officers, contributing to a cohesive, high‑functioning team.
Main responsibilities
Research Governance
- Lead the full process of developing, drafting, and submitting the AHS Research Tissue Bank (RTB) application.
- Manage ongoing approvals, amendments, renewals and reporting obligations to Research Ethics Committees, the Health Research Authority, the Confidentiality Advisory Group and other regulatory bodies.
- Develop, implement and maintain governance frameworks, SOPs and quality assurance processes required for RTB operation, keeping abreast of developments in the regulatory landscape.
- Maintain accurate documentation, version control and quality‑assurance procedures relating to ethics and regulatory submissions.
- Act as key point of contact for research governance‑related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
Study Development & Planning
- Work closely with the Senior Programme Manager to contribute to the design and refinement of study protocols, piloting phases and operational plans.
- Lead the planning and delivery of specific study workstreams, as required, defining milestones, tracking progress, and identifying interdependencies as the study develops.
- Coordinate cross‑team activity involving research, data, operations and engagement teams to ensure study components are integrated and delivered effectively.
Project Management & Coordination
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans for governance and study‑delivery workstreams as required, ensuring roadmaps are accurate, realistic and kept up to date.
- Identify, track and mitigate risks related to both governance and delivery, escalating as appropriate and working collaboratively to resolve issues.
- Prepare reports and briefings for AHS governance structures (e.g., AHS Executive, Board of Trustees, Scientific Advisory Board).
Team Leadership & Line Management
- Provide mentoring and day‑to‑day guidance on governance‑related queries, ethics submissions and documentation development.
- Line manage selected staff within the study team, supporting workload planning, professional development and quality assurance.
- Foster effective team working across research, operational and scientific colleagues.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams including scientific leads, operational delivery, data management and engagement teams.
- Represent AHS with external partners related to governance, regulatory support, tissue banking and operational delivery.
- Work with the engagement team to ensure young people are involved in all elements of the study development and delivery.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience in research governance, NHS research ethics management, clinical research management or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience drafting protocols, participant documents and regulatory submissions.
- Strong understanding of ethical and regulatory frameworks including the Human Tissue Act, UK GDPR, and NHS research ethics processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear and actionable guidance for colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with experience managing competing priorities.
- Experience in risk identification and mitigation within research programmes.
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field.
- Experience line managing or supervising staff.

Main Duties
1. Assessing, planning and implementing, in partnership with the individuals you support, programmes of support and/or care that meet their general needs and maximise their independence, presence and participation within the community and to ensure the quality of service delivery.
2. Working with individuals (current and prospective people the Tower Project may support), families, advocates and other professional colleagues as required in order to facilitate good communication and decision making so that the service provided is coordinated and applicable.
3. Working closely with Operations Managers and Referral and Assessment Managers, in addition to external professionals, to assess new individuals and deliver and assist in presentations etc for service development and expansion.
4. Working with individuals (current and prospective), families, advocates and other professional colleagues as required in order to support individuals to maintain their personal finances, benefit entitlements, and tenancy agreements and to therefore gain financial security and long term housing.
5. Ensuring the continued financial viability of each service, closely monitoring budgets, contracts, care hours, auditing as necessary, and addressing any shortfalls at the earliest opportunity.
6. Being responsible for the recruitment, supervision, training and day to day management of staff so that the service can consistently provide the proper staffing levels, attitudes, and skills to support the individuals.
7. Ensuring the allocation of staff duties is clearly and adequately defined and communicated to all staff through the appropriate channels, to ensure that all staff members understand their own and others’ roles and responsibilities.
8. Ensuring that each service remains within its allocated budget; monitoring expenditure on an ongoing basis and taking corrective action as appropriate.
9. Ensuring that all paperwork and returns required by the organisation and support purchasers are completed accurately and on time so that the service can meet its procedural and contractual obligations in terms of data collection and monitoring.

11. Identifying and reporting risks, and if required taking necessary precautions to ensure health and safety for the individuals the Tower Project supports and visitors as specified within service contracts from housing partners and/or purchasing agencies.
12. Maintaining and developing specialist knowledge across a range of work procedures and practice by attending mandatory training and relevant professional development in order to continuously improve knowledge and skills.
13. Building and maintaining an excellent service reputation in the area, with purchasers and local authorities, and the community, ensuring high quality support provision and community presence at all times.
14. Co-ordinating and monitoring all mandatory training requirements, nominating and liaising with appropriate bodies as applicable in order to ensure that training is up to date and all staff members receive the appropriate training.
15. 16. Being responsible for ensuring that all staff are familiar with and are actively implementing company policies and procedures, including fire procedures.
17. Providing the Operations Manager/Director with reports on aspects of the services as directed, including undertaking regular audits of each service in your portfolio.
18. Carrying out duties in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and subsequent Health and Safety legislation.
19. Managing rotas to ensure that all services have appropriate staff cover at all times, and that statutory and contractual obligations are met, if necessary working shifts on a staffing rota including weekdays, weekends, split shifts, wake nights, sleep-in, wake night duty and bank holidays as required, and working at multiple sites as necessary.
20. Planning, managing and covering special events such as service user holidays, liaising with family, advocate, social services etc as necessary.
21. Undertaking on call duties as required and managing on call rota for Team Leaders / Deputy Service Managers / Registered Nurses when you are not on call.
22. You may be required to undertake other duties appropriate to your post and/or hours of work, as may reasonably be required of you at your initial place of work or at any other of the company's establishments.
