We are working with an amazing mission led organisation to support them in finding a great Helpline Advisor. The role would see you using those great listening and problem solving skills, and supporting people in crisis, and vulnerable people.

There is an opportunity to work mainly remotely, visiting the London office once a month on a flexible basis.  If you prefer to be office based, that is also possible.  You will work with other advisors so that you can support each other, and increase your learning.  The role also home working for the remainder of the week, enabling great flexibility.

The role will see you managing multiple referrals at any one time.  Your comfort in moving at pace from one conversation to another, whilst ensuring that the information that you provide is correct and fully understood will be key.  You will also be learning which cases to refer to other areas and will not be owning casework.  There is great training in place, and the right candidate will be fully supported in getting up to speed in this hugely impactful role.

The ideal candidate will have a clear and reassuring telephone manner, and the ability to communicate complex information in a simple and client friendly manner.

This will involve traveling to a variety of educational settings to deliver our programmes, alongside supporting our Head of Programmes and Programme Coordinators to recruit schools and colleges. Projects can vary from media literacy workshops for schools, online harms CPD training, to city-wide democratic engagement stalls.

The applicant needs to be motivated, interested in counter-extremism, and passionate about Political & Media Literacy. The job is based on a 7-month contract, with likely extension (including a 3-month probation period).

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a wide variety of programmes across a diverse range of settings and cohorts.

• Recruit, coordinate and support schools and teachers across the UK to take up our programmes

• Support in updating and creating resources around the topics of Political Literacy, Media Literacy and Counter - Extremism

About the Role

As part of our collaborative Finance Business Partnering team, you’ll support fundraising, communications, advocacy, and activism across Mencap. You’ll provide clear financial advice, insightful analysis, and strong financial management to ensure our fundraising income is used effectively to benefit people with learning disabilities.

You will need to travel occasionally for meetings. However, this role will primarily be working remotely.

• Partnering with directorate teams to create robust budgets and forecasts, offering support and advice for realistic financial planning.

Finance Business Partner (Property) 18 month FTC

Are you an experienced Finance Business Partner with property experience looking for a role where you can make a real difference in the charity sector? 

Mencap operates in over 1,600 properties in England, Northern Ireland and Wales. This includes providing personal support services for people with a learning disability in a variety of settings, housing management services across 250 properties, retail shops and offices.

We have a fantastic and rewarding opportunity for a Finance professional to support our property team for the next 18 months as they focus on delivering transformation in their processes. This role is a 30 hours fixed-term contract for 18 months, on a 4 day a week basis.

We have large offices in London, and Peterborough and smaller offices located throughout the UK. If there is no office available within a reasonable distance, the role may be offered as home-based with some travel for team meetings. 

We are looking for someone who is a confident communicator with both finance colleagues and operational staff, adapting their style to their audience. In this role, you will need to bring

• Experience in a finance business partnering role within a Local Authority or social housing environment.
• Exposure to property transformation projects and a track record of providing financial support.
• Some understanding of social housing regulations and the financial reporting required.

About the Role

As Media Lead you will be responsible for running the charity's busy press office and you will play a central role in shaping how Victim Support is seen and heard in the media. You'll write and deliver a strategic Media Plan that positions the charity as a trusted and recognised victims' voice, increases the profile of our services and contributes to influencing positive change.

This is a hands-on role where you'll manage media enquiries, build trusted relationships with journalists and ensure our spokespeople are briefed and supported for interviews. You'll work closely with colleagues across external affairs, social media and frontline services, and provide expert media advice to senior leaders. You'll also line manage our Stories Officer and oversee our Stories Library, giving a platform to victims' voices and experiences.
