Job Title: Activities Coordinator

Location: Face to face delivery, based in Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) - Local Stations: Westbourne Park and Ladbroke Grove (Circle & Hammersmith and City lines) 

Salary: £32,600

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00. You may also be required to work evenings and bank holidays as required.

About the role

We are looking for an Activities Coordinator to work across multiple services within the area, to manage the running and coordination of regular activities, events, and trips for our residents. Our service provides support to residents who have multiple and complex needs which could include mental health, substance use, homelessness, and/or offending backgrounds. You will line manage a team of 2 peer support mentors. Our Peer Mentor role is designed for people who have lived experience of that faced by our residents. You will support with all aspects of line management and wellbeing support, ensuring they are well supported within their role. 

As an Activities Coordinator, you will coordinate and deliver high quality activities and programmes which work in support to individual support places and goals, by creating a calendar of activities, celebrations, awareness months/days/weeks and events to encourage social skills and community engagement. You will also maintain effective stakeholder relationships, find new partnerships, and create a catalogue of partners which are easily accessible. 

About you

We're looking for someone who has a true passion to support those who have multiple and complex needs, with a drive to help support those who suffer with homelessness, mental health, and substance use. You will be able to build rapport and trusting relations in a professional setting, and able to build positive outcomes. You will have an adaptable and flexible approach to helping others, with an understanding that each individual has different levels and types of support needs. 

• Ability to use, learn and adapt to IT at an intermediate level, including Microsoft and other software programs.
• Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds and/or a good understanding of the sector
• Experience in coordinating and/or delivering activities and programmes with people from various backgrounds
• Ability to lead a team, and support them in achieving outcomes necessary for personal and professional outcomes
• Ability to provide advice, support and guidance to a team and residents on various areas
• Ability to work creatively and encourage creativity in others
• Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral. Ability to form and build effective relationships and rapport with others
• Proactive in making decisions to deal with challenges and providing a solution focused approach using initiative

About the role:

dvance has partnered with Catch 22 to deliver services to young victims of crime in London. In recognition of the distinct challenges facing young women and girls (aged 13 to 18) who have been victims or witnesses of crime, Advance will deliver a dedicated, specialist support service tailored to their unique needs. This is an exciting time to join Advance as we expand our reach to support more young women and girls using best-practice youth, gender, trauma-informed and holistic approaches.

The new service will provide support across all London boroughs in safe, female-only spaces and in the community. It is designed to help young women and girls escape harm, build confidence and resilience, and thrive in their lives and aspirations. They will receive one-to-one support from specialist Caseworkers, as well as access to safe spaces offering groups and workshops, toiletries, clothing, IT access and more.

Caseworkers will provide consistent, holistic support, offering practical help and advocacy, and working to build trusted relationships that empower young women and girls to explore their identities, safety and futures. Advance’s Caseworkers will also be embedded within the wider Catch 22 Victim Services team, through co-location at Catch 22 offices and participation in relevant team meetings and training.

About You:

To be successful as the Young Women & Girls Caseworker you will need the below experience and skills:

You will bring a strong understanding of the complex and intersecting challenges faced by vulnerable young women and girls, including the impacts of domestic abuse, exploitation, mental health issues, and involvement with the criminal justice system. You will have experience providing holistic, trauma-informed, and gender-responsive support to young people, and be confident in managing risk, conducting needs assessments, and developing tailored support plans.

You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with young people, while maintaining professional boundaries and working collaboratively with a wide range of statutory and voluntary sector partners. Your approach will be person-centred, strengths-based, and rooted in empowerment.

You will have a sound understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice, with the ability to respond appropriately to challenging situations and support young people to manage strong emotions in a safe and constructive manner.

As an Assistant Retail Manager, you will join an incredible team and support them to encourage sales, provide excellent customer service, and uphold the highest standards of stock presentation and store cleanliness.

You will be responsible for:
- Assisting the Retail Manager in maximising sales by maintaining high standards of display and layout, ensuring proper stock rotation, and securing realistic pricing on donated items.

- Maximising Gift Aid income and oversee the proper display and administration of bought-in goods, ensuring minimal stock loss.
- Customer engagement and leading by coaching volunteers and staff to have great conversations with every customer on" Rounding up" their purchase, making an "add donation" for our charity and signing up for our loyalty scheme.
- Engaging with the community to drive repeat custom, stock donation, volunteer recruitment and community involvement.
- Supporting the Retail Manager in recruiting and managing volunteers and ensuring all staff and volunteers are following Marie Curie procedures and guidelines.
- In the absence of the Retail Manager, taking responsibility for the overall management and operation of the store.

Key Criteria:
- Previous retail experience, preferably in fashion/clothing.
- Experience of cash handling and financial management procedures (including completion of sales records).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first attitude and the ability to communicate with tact and discretion,
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload, balancing competing demands.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures in a retail environment.
- Experience in managing and motivating volunteers is desirable.

About the role

This role is part of Shelter’s in-house development team, reporting to the Lead Developer, and working closely with all product teams in the Central Digital team.

As Principal Front-end Developer, you’ll work in a product team and be responsible for the overall vision and development of the front-end technology stack with a strong focus on the technical design and implementation of Shelters design system.

You will also support the development of products to help Shelter to provide faster, more efficient, and effective services to clients and supporters.

Our tech stack consists of Contentful, Netlify, Gatsby Js, Storybook, CircleCI and Nx.

You’ll head up the front-end development team, mentoring senior developers, supporting them and their reports (a total of 6 in your team) in their day-to-day work. 

Role Specifics 

In this role, you will support the Lead Developer in managing the front-end team, promoting a culture of ownership, responsibility, and innovation. You will take the lead in designing and delivering Shelter’s design system, pattern library, and build tools, while continuously exploring emerging front-end technologies to enhance our digital products and user experience. Working closely with UX, product, and content teams, you will drive strategically important projects from development through to evidence-based improvements after launch. You will champion accessibility, web performance, and modern development standards across the organisation.

You will also play a key role in improving front-end team processes, ensuring high-quality, performant, and accessible code aligned with WCAG 2.1 AA standards. This includes mentoring the team through regular code reviews, setting development goals, and fostering collaboration within Agile teams. By sharing knowledge and staying current with the latest technologies, you will help maintain a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

The Central Digital team team plays a key role within Shelter by producing impactful user experiences for our advocacy and fundraising campaigns, as well as our advice services. About the Youth Endowment Fund

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.

Last year, 244 people in England and Wales tragically died after being assaulted with a knife. Of these, 32 were children. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. Even when violence doesn’t strike directly, we know that the fear of violence has a terrible effect on children’s lives. One in 12 women will be a victim of violence against women and girls each year in England and Wales. Our Children, Violence and Vulnerability (CVV) research with teenage children showed that 33% of teenagers have encountered online content that encourages violence against women and girls.

The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must build an exceptional body of knowledge about violence affecting young people and how we reduce it. This knowledge has to be both rigorous and highly relevant to those making decisions about how to support vulnerable young people. We need to find out what works and what doesn’t through evidence synthesis, data analysis and qualitative research into children’s lives. We need to convert this into highly accessible content on what works, how delivery organisations need to change their practice and how the systems they operate in need to be reformed. We then need to work with the right people that can make change happen, across systems, policies and practice, to have a real impact on reducing violence affecting children’s lives.

Violence against Young Women and Girls

At the heart of our work is getting clear on what works. We are looking for someone who can lead our research and change agenda on violence against young women and girls (VAWG). We have built the foundations of this work by:

• developing our understanding of experiences of violence through our Children, Violence and Vulnerability (CVV) research with teenage children;
• reviewing evidence on the effectiveness of interventions that aim to prevent relationship violence and violence affecting young women and girls, which is summarised in our Toolkit; and
• ensuring a strong focus on VAWG prevention in our Education Systems Guidance and Education Practice Guidance, based on the evidence we have for relationship violence prevention delivery in education settings.  

There is still a lot to do. We need to fund new research to fill gaps in our understanding of what works. We need to turn this evidence into actionable recommendations and sustainable change that will keep children safe from violence.

Key Responsibilities

The Violence against Young Women and Girls Lead will lead the VAWG research and change agenda for YEF. 

You will:

Be the YEF’s expert on VAWG

• Making sure we understand the key issues, stay on top of the latest research and are connected to the right people.

Lead YEF’s research agenda on VAWG

• Commissioning research that fills important gaps in knowledge and leads to important changes in policy and practice.

Develop evidence-based recommendations on the prevention of VAWG.

• Drawing on research and expert insight to produce recommendations for systems and practice guidance, across the seven essential sectors that we work with: children’s services, education, health, neighbourhoods, policing, youth services, and youth justice.
• Writing and publishing evidence briefings and recommendations for policy makers and system leaders about how to prevent VAWG.
• Working across YEF teams to ensure that YEF recommendations on VAWG are incorporated across our evidence and change products, including systems, sector and practice guidance, the Toolkit and implementation resources.

Develop and lead a change strategy.

• Developing great relationships with senior leaders, policymakers, commissioners, and key stakeholders connected to VAWG across England and Wales.
• Generating a strong understanding of key issues and needs across systems and sectors and building credibility and trust in YEF’s evidence products and recommendations.
• Creating practical tools and resources that help leaders put evidence into action.
• Developing, managing and tracking your change plan to get more senior leaders to be aware of and use our guidance, tools and resources, continuously looking for data-driven improvements.
• Delivering events and presentations to effectively connect people with the evidence.

Hybrid Working Details

The office is based in Central London. Those living in and around London are expected to be in the office for a minimum of 2 days per week. If you live outside of London and work remotely, you’ll be expected to work from the London office 2 days per month.

About the role

As a Senior CRM and Data Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting staff across NCVO in making the most of our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

Acting as the go-to expert, you’ll provide guidance, training, and technical support to ensure the CRM is used confidently and effectively across the organisation. Your work will help maintain the quality and integrity of our data through regular imports, cleansing, and quality checks, ensuring compliance with data protection standards.
