This crucial work helps change us to the inter-generational narrative about numeracy in the UK. Do you want to join an organisation committed to addressing low literacy levels amongst people in prison?

Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led learning programmes across a number of prisons. To ensure the continuation of our programmes during times of staff absence, we are now seeking to recruit a Prison Facilitator on a bank working basis to work across the west midlands region who is able to travel to cover sites in the wider area too. Working closely with prisons and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will support with the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme in the Central region, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships quickly and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. You will also have a willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice, to provide short or long term cover within the region including possible overnight stays.

This role will be prison-based. This is a bank role and so the number of days to be worked will vary and are not guaranteed. About this exciting opportunity

Our successful candidate will provide operational management and effective leadership to a team of Financial Wellbeing Coaches (FWCs) and Peer Advisor volunteers employed in the delivery of one or more contracts awarded by the HMPPS to deliver Finance, Benefit and Debt (FBD) services in Wales.

We will count on you to set performance objectives and monitor progress – ensuring compliance with contractual performance indicators and quality improvement, and to monitor and manage all aspects of delivery and performance.

This key role will also involve managing partnerships, developing and maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders, and managing and coordinating allocated resources, including volunteers and spot purchase funds.  Ensuring there is a safe and trusting working environment for staff and working closely with other St Giles Wise Managers to ensure consistency of approach and sharing of best practice are also key duties.

• Experience of working in, or managing, services supporting challenging people

• Experience working in or managing multi-agency partnerships working towards common objectives 

• Hold a relevant qualification, or be able to provide evidence of training at specialist level in money and/or welfare benefits advice 

• Sound understanding of the requirements of managing a caseload 

• Familiarity with relevant legislation, regulations, guidance codes of practice and industry standards

We are currently looking for an exceptional candidate to provide research support to help drive forward our strategic policy advocacy at a critical time for the climate movement in the UK and globally. Uplift is an impact-oriented research and campaigning organisation that supports a rapid and fair transition away from oil and gas in the UK, with a goal of making the UK a global first-mover on phasing out oil and gas production in line with climate limits and a just settlement for the workforce.

The role
In this role you will support our team to ensure that Uplift’s and its partners’ work uses research, insight, and intelligence to maximise our impact. From ensuring our campaigns are informed by the latest data and analysis to conducting research to inform decision-makers, partners, and the broader movement, this is a diverse role at the heart of our work supporting a just transition away from oil and gas extraction. The successful candidate will have exceptional quantitative research skills and a keen interest in climate and energy-related campaigns. A strong commitment to Uplift's mission and core values is also required.

Responsibilities include:

• Support the delivery of Uplift’s research agenda, contributing to our organisational strategy and campaignsSupport Uplift’s data initiatives by enhancing our rapid-response analytical capacity and conducting high-impact analysis.
• Create and maintain resources for various audiences, including journalists, policymakers, and the climate movement.
• Collaborate with key contacts across the Research, Policy and Legal team to address strategic research questions and support the execution of research projects.
• Contribute to the wider work of the Research, Policy and Legal team, including supporting knowledge management and maintaining high-quality standards in outputs.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in a similar or related research role.
• Strong knowledge of UK climate, energy or environmental policy (direct expertise in just transition, fossil fuels or renewables would be an advantage, but is not essential).
• Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information quickly and accurately.
• A specialised set of quantitative research skills, demonstrating strong data proficiency and experience using, for example, coding languages (such as R or Python).
• Exceptional writing and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Motivation, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment.

This role will be responsible for:

Team & Office Environment

· Monitor STOP THE TRAFFIK’s phone and general ‘info’ inbox, directing messages to the appropriate team members.

· Support the upkeep of the office environment, ensuring facilities are well maintained and team members take shared ownership of the space.

· Coordinate team days and team-building activities, in collaboration with the Team Building Champion.

· Lead onboarding for new staff alongside line managers to ensure a smooth induction experience.

Executive Support Functions

· Provide administrative support to members of the Executive Team.

· Take minutes and capture action points in Senior Leadership Team meetings.

· Prepare briefing notes for key meetings with the Senior Leadership Team.

Finance

· Support the Finance & HR Manager by reconciling transactions on Xero, producing invoices, processing payments, and assisting with monthly and quarterly reporting.

· Maintain key organisational records (e.g. contracts, insurance, supplier information) and handle confidential information appropriately.

The Deputy Director of Strategic Evidence and Learning (Deputy Director of SEL) leads and shapes Malaria Consortium’s global evidence and learning agenda, ensuring that high-quality, policy- and practice-relevant evidence is generated, translated, and used to improve health outcomes and influence disease control/elimination strategies. It has a particular focus on the systematic use of evidence in decision-making for results and impact in malaria programmes and into adjacent extensions from malaria control/elimination into other health conditions. The role provides strategic direction, and oversight of research, surveillance, monitoring, evaluation, and learning across the organisation and facilitates implementation science methodologies.

The successful candidate will have:

• Substantial experience in the systematic use of evidence to support decision-making for impactful health programmes
• Substantial experience in global health with a focus on evidence generation activities and knowledge translation in malaria, vector borne diseases, child health and other communicable diseases
• A PhD, or equivalent extensive experience, in epidemiology, public health, health economics or related field

Head of Programmes is a key role with significant scope to grow as the charity evolves. You’ll lead on the day-to-day delivery of our programmes, including our largest single programme, Maths Circles: a small-group-based maths enrichment programme engaging talented young mathematicians nationwide. You will coordinate a large community of volunteers as well as our in-house team of part-time and freelance staff to deliver an excellent experience for students, parents, tutors and partners.

You will need to be genuinely enthusiastic about using our CRM and Google Sheets to track progress and excited about martialling the charity’s data to communicate clearly with colleagues, partners and trustees. You will take ownership of programme reporting and KPIs, using insights to identify and implement delivery improvements and demonstrate impact.

You will communicate regularly with our diverse community – including speaking directly to young people and parents to resolve issues, recruiting and training education professionals and meeting with partners to organise and manage projects. Beyond programme delivery, you’ll play a crucial part in fundraising, communications, recruitment and planning and will occasionally deputise for the Foundation Director in representing the charity externally.
