Salary: £30,000-£32,000

About the role:

The Senior Multiple Needs Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) will work within a dynamic, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service based at the CGL Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The IDVA will provide support in the local community and at the Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The successful candidate will be co-located up to 5 days a week at the Women’s Wellness Zone.

The IDVA will be closely working alongside CGL colleagues/team to deliver support to women with a range of complex support needs including substance misuse, mental health, domestic abuse, sex working, trafficking, and offending behaviour. The IDVA will work in collaboration with their team members to holistically support women in the borough of Ealing to achieve sustained recovery, improved health and wellbeing, helping women to manage/mitigate risks, and empowering them to reach their fullest potential in society as well as ensuring the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process.

The Senior Multiple Needs IDVA will assess the needs and risks of survivors, carry out short and longer-term risk management, safety planning and support. As well as identify and refer to services appropriate to their needs. They will also proactively advocate and advice women of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies, encouraging them to engage with other agencies, and help co-ordinate the provision of multi-agency support where necessary.

About You:

To be successful as the Senior Multiple Needs IDVA you will need to have:

Excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children, of best practice in supporting survivors of domestic abuse, and of the MARAC. As well as understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.

Bringing your experience of risk and needs assessment, safety and support planning, and crisis planning and successfully managing high numbers of referrals and experience of working in a co-located setting with another agency and providing consultations/briefings to professionals to support in upskilling them around Domestic Abuse. The candidate will have experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to work as part of an innovative service, designed to offer multi-disciplinary wrap-around support to women with multiple needs, with the aim of facilitating long-term recovery.

We are seeking a Philanthropy Proposal Writer, on a one-year fixed appointment to cover maternity leave. You will be responsible for creating persuasive content for use in bespoke proposals for potential donors and funders, most particularly for 7-9 figure opportunities. As well as developing and delivering compelling concept notes and proposals to solicit leadership philanthropic gifts, you will contribute to Campaign content that demonstrates the need for and impact of philanthropy, to help inspire more supporters to invest in and partner with LSE.

You should have exceptional written communication skills with the ability to influence and persuade through use of words, style and tone, an ability to translate complex academic concepts into persuasive content for donors and funders, and confidence in in coordinating activities and people to achieve success.

You’ll have a clear roadmap of what’s coming up and be given the freedom to make good decisions to respond to the context as it changes. There is good support around our senior leaders from the director team, external coaching is available to anyone who requests it, and there are well developed people, finance and compliance functions. We have requisite knowledge around the role to make this suitable for someone with transferrable skills from outside Students’ Unions and if you’re from Students’ Unions, you’ll be working alongside great people to bounce ideas and thoughts off. 

As an organisation, we’ve got a clear strategic framework, insight, people and values frameworks so your contribution will be to role model great behaviours and maintain excellent cross-directorate working. You’ll need to be able to pull different threads together and ensure our work is aligned to our strategy and values. You’ll be providing political advice to the elected student officers so being able to navigate complex stakeholder relationships and navigate others through it is important. 

You do not have to have worked in education, Students’ Unions or the third sector before. The person specification is clear we’re looking for leadership development skills and a navigating complex environments orientation. This is because there is a lot of interest and scrutiny on what our organisation does, our influencing environment, relationships with the university and programmes develop and evolve quickly. 

We recognise that we are looking for an experienced person (albeit without a sector knowledge requirement). If you have additional skills to bring to the role, we’d love to hear them. The Furniture Makers’ Company is the City of London livery company and charity for the furnishing industry.

Our role is to sustain a thriving British furnishing industry with a talented workforce delivering high quality products, which supports those in need from within its ranks and those who have served it in the past. We achieve this through three pillars of activity – education, excellence and welfare.

We are seeking an organised and driven individual for a maternity cover to lead on our education and training programme, which is facilitating the growth of a talented workforce by inspiring, connecting and retaining the next generation. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to make a real impact, addressing the skills gap in the industry, working alongside young people.

This is a varied role with a significant focus on events and project management, including special events, as well as engagement activities to raise awareness of career opportunities in the industry. This includes driving forward our new 'My Furniture Career' website aimed at 15 – 24-year-olds and attending careers fairs. This role will also involve working with specialist education providers to support the provision of industry specific education and training.

A successful applicant will have demonstratable experience of organising and delivering large scale events, timely and cost-effective project management and financial reporting. Experience of working in the sector or in a previous educational role is not required.

Job Purpose

• To be the focal point for implementing all Education and Training activity within the Company, and to report back to the Education and Training Committee to maximise its reach and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Events

• Young Furniture Makers Exhibition - To plan, organise and deliver the annual one-day exhibition showcasing the best new talent to industry. Securing event sponsorship and working with sponsors during the organisation process to ensure positive relationships. Working with over 70 exhibitors, multiple sponsors and external suppliers to ensure a successful event.
• Young Professional Industry Engagement event programme - To plan, organise and deliver the annual three-week programme of CPD visits for a selected group of participants to industry hosts across the UK. Working with participants and over 20 organisations to schedule and deliver the programme.
• Furniture Making T-Level conference – Working with the Chair of the Education and Training Committee and selected members to plan, organise and implement a one-day conference on the practicalities of overing the Furniture T-Level in an educational setting.
• Organise and attend several regional career fairs and trade shows to promote the education and training initiatives and encourage young people to consider a career in furniture and furnishings.
• Plan and organise the content of an Education and Training slot at the annual Furniture Makers’ HR Conference to highlight key events and programmes.
• Ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion is considered in all aspects of Education and Training events.

Grants

• Administer a small annual grants scheme supporting colleges and universities which provide specialist furniture and furnishing education courses.
• Manage a travel bursary scheme to support exhibitors attending the Young Furniture Makers Exhibition.

Website

• Administer the jobs board featured on the My Furniture Career website, screening and approving posted vacancies as well as liaising with those posting jobs to confirm the status of the vacancy, sharing data once the vacancy expires and collecting feedback data from the poster.
• To work with the Digital Officer to agree a schedule of content for the website and its associated social media.
• Work with the Communications Manager and Digital Officer to promote the use of the website by the targeted audience group as well as the HR community to post vacancies to the jobs board.
• Produce a quarterly report detailing the usage and any highlights regarding the website.
• Report any technical issues to the website provider and liaise with them to fix the issue.

Reporting

• Quarterly reporting on activity and budget to the Education and Training Committee.
• Supporting the Committee Chair by setting up Committee meetings and taking minutes.
• Supporting the Committee Chair with any other administration as necessary related to the Committee. 
• Assist with any ad hoc administration as necessary related to the FIESTA Committee.

Miscellaneous

• Assisting the Education and Training Committee Chair with any administration in regard to the Masters Certificate Scheme.
• Send quarterly feedback surveys mentoring participants and collect the data for reporting purposes.
• Work with the Communications and Marketing Manager to promote Education and Training events.
• Keep the Education and Training budget up to date and process all invoices in a timely manner.
• Report back to all event sponsors after any Education and Training sponsored event to keep sponsors updated and aware of the events successes.

About the Role

The charity is leading on the Inclusion strand of the programme, delivering training to education professionals in 70 schools across London. The MARAC Coordinator will coordinate, administer, and manage the operation of the MARAC. One of the main purposes of the role is to bring together agencies to ensure that local systems are truly keeping survivors safe, holding perpetrators to account, and preventing domestic abuse. A key principle of the post is respecting the independence of each agency and ensuring the MARAC’s key principles are survivor’s and children’s safety, offender accountability and giving a clear message that domestic abuse is s crime that will not be tolerated. The post holder will be located in Brent, and will meet MARAC partners in a variety of settings in the community. The post holder will also spend time raising awareness of the service, domestic abuse, and the MARAC in addition to training agencies on the MARAC and inducting new MARAC representatives on the MARAC.

The post holder will have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children, of best practice in supporting survivors of domestic abuse, and of the MARAC. The post holder will also have a good understanding of managing a project.

About the role:

This role is for an events person who can support our training and development courses. These courses are delivered either face-to-face or hybrid and are often delivered by a team of the organisation’s members. We use tools such as WebEx, MS Teams and Slido to support the delivery.
