The Programme Officer will report to the Programme Manager for the Opportunities for All strand of the Ogden strategy, which includes our work with universities to support physics outreach and public engagement and physics-related internships for 16-18-year-olds. They will manage the administrative and reporting side of the programmes, and organise related events.
Who we are looking for
You will need to have a good understanding of the informal science learning landscape and higher education in England and an interest in physics in particular. You must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with outreach professionals, academics and employers in physics-related sectors.
An excellent team player, you will have experience of working in programme administration and events organisation, with strong communication and organisational skills. A track record of building successful working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, particularly higher education and industry and the ability to work on your own initiative are valuable.

Main purpose and scope of Role
This role will play key to engaging with and supporting PTAs across the region, as well as a variety of stakeholders such as schools, parent groups, local authorities, potential sponsors or supporters and other organisations as our suite of programmes grows. This role initially focuses on the following, but is subject to change as programmes are launched or evolved:
PTA Programme
- Growing our network of PTAs.
- Supporting PTAs through leadership transition to minimise PTAs closing unnecessarily.
- Organising gatherings of PTAs to enhance the PTA community.
- Providing training and awareness sessions for PTAs.
- Providing community support to PTAs during peak activity periods online or by phone.
- Helping schools establish PTAs and supporting them during their first year through our new PTA Launchpad programme.
- Hosting and co-ordinating virtual webinars/meetings to demonstrate the value of PTA membership and the support available.
Parent Programme
- Raising awareness of Parentkind’s growing programme of support for parents, directly or indirectly through schools or other partners.
- Building relationships with parent groups to support engagement with our growing suite of parent support opportunities.
- Organising events for parents as part of our Parent Programme.
- Building relationships with regional stakeholders to support Parent Programme activities.
Other Programmes/Services
- Encouraging uptake or (when charged) sales of our broad and growing suite of programmes and services.
- Identifying and engaging with local and regional partners for our range of programmes.
- Feeding into programme design.
Wider Stakeholder Engagement:
- Attending appropriate conferences and educational meetings across the region.
- Developing relationships with key local authorities and individuals so they advocate our services and the benefits of our programmes
- Developing relationships with MATs so that they can advocate Parentkind and the benefits of its programmes.

The Role
We are seeking a Project Coordinator on a part-time basis to help us create and deliver our vision to develop our site and buildings for the future. This includes modernising our existing facilities, improving access and becoming more environmentally sustainable.
These are ambitious plans and we are not expecting to achieve everything at once. We are looking to create a series of distinct, prioritised projects so we can move forward and need more people capacity in our small team to do so.
The Project Coordinator is a new role, and will undertake the essential administrative, communication, planning and reporting needed to help make our plans a reality. In the first instance, this will be to assist with key building renovations and improvements such as creation of disabled facilities.
The Project Coordinator will not necessarily have formal project management experience, but must be able to pull together a wide-ranging set of requirements, create and improve processes and practices that will allow us to better manage our site development in future.
This role might suit someone wishing to work either three full days or part of each working day. We are happy to discuss flexible working hours.
Principal Duties
These will include:
Gathering and analysing management data
- Using customer bookings and finance systems to extract key information.
- Defining and reporting on key metrics to evaluate the progress and success of projects.
- Collating and using data as required to help with other key strategic tasks such as cost-benefit analysis and business cases.
- Providing data as required to support business planning, funding bids, marketing and communication.
Project communication
- Identifying and engaging with a wide range of key stakeholders, such as partners, customers, contractors, consultants and planners.
- Putting in place systems for better project communication, internally and externally.
- Assisting with scheduling of tasks and meetings.
- Reporting as necessary to the Centre Director and Trustees.
Project coordination

- Putting in place new and robust systems to record project progress and next steps.
- Defining and improving existing management systems.

Role overview
The Project Support Officer will support our Programmes Team with activity related to project delivery while members of the team are on maternity leave. The postholder will be responsible for completing a variety of project delivery tasks that support the smooth running of our online mentoring. We're looking for an analytical thinker to join our Facilitation and Planning team as Facilitation and Planning Officer.
You'll work as part of a team who are responsible for planning and scheduling of all events, conferences and one-to-one sessions across our programme suite. We recruit and support expert faculty to ensure our programmes are delivered to the highest quality in order to enrich participant learning.
Your main role will be to work within the Facilitation and Planning team, supporting with the development of our online system to auto-generate events. You'll be responsible for setting up reporting and monitoring processes to support our optimisation of facilitators, and work closely with other internal programme stakeholders to oversee the creation of new policies and processes such as our Quality Assurance and development offer.

What you’ll be doing
You will support the evaluation of our growing range of programmes. As part of an evaluation team of five people, you will be responsible for managing the evaluation process, taking the lead for our work with young people and adults, including our literacy and employability programmes, criminal justice work and projects utilising role models to support young people’s literacy.
You will provide evaluation support at every stage of the programme cycle, from planning and budgeting for evaluation as part of programme bids or proposals, to supporting programme design and developing draft evaluation plans. You will design evaluation tools and work with the programme and delivery teams to collect data, analyse data and write up findings.
The majority of this work you will be able to do remotely. However, you will need to be able to be in London when necessary for team days, and travel to programme locations for face to face work.

As a research post, you will need an undergraduate degree in a social science as well as experience delivering evaluation projects from start to finish. This should include including writing proposals / literature reviews, data collection, quantitative and qualitative data analysis and write up your findings. You will also need experience of applying different research methodologies and practices, great analytical skills and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, in different styles and for different audiences.
Most importantly, you will also need an understanding of the challenges of working with our target audiences and how best to overcome any barriers and collect data from them.

About First Give
First Give inspires young people to make a difference to the causes they care about. We do this through working in partnership with secondary schools, providing a fully resourced scheme of work that guides an entire year group of students to engage with local charities and causes and then carry out social action (fundraising, raising awareness, campaigning, volunteering etc) in support of them.

Programme Delivery Officer role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join our Programmes Team as a Programme Delivery Officer. PDOs will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the delivery of the First Give programme in up 50 schools, ensuring smooth running of the programme, plus providing guidance and troubleshooting for the lead teachers at First Give partner schools.

Key responsibilities
